Chapter 1120: Chapter 5: Black Long Straight Girl

"Did I just lose my first kiss like that?" Feeling the soft lips of Tang Zheng, as well as his breath, Dong Zixuan’s expression became blank. She had secretly imagined more than once that her first kiss would be given to the man she loved under a romantic atmosphere, but definitely not like today, so she began to struggle fiercely.

The policewoman bit down on Tang Zheng’s lips and then punched him in the stomach.

Tang Zheng pretended he couldn’t withstand the blow and stumbled backwards.

"Scumbag!" Dong Zixuan cried, rushed out of the bathroom, and left the suite. She was a woman who dared to love and hate, and she had taken a liking to Tang Zheng because she thought he was manly; he wouldn’t back down when he faced a thug and had the guts to step up and do the right thing.

From childhood, the policewoman, thanks to her affluent family, never lacked suitors. Having seen all kinds of men’s performances, it was Tang Zheng’s uniqueness that attracted her. She could tell that he genuinely didn’t want to get entangled with her.

"He must have some secret on him?" The policewoman ran into the elevator, feeling a bit better, but she also didn’t want to pry. This encounter, as of now, was over.

Tang Zheng was ruggedly handsome and perfectly built, and he had a sense of self-reproach, especially when he looked serious, which gave a sense of security. The first impression would make anyone take a liking to him. If Tang Zheng hadn’t done what he did, but instead sat down to chat, there was an eighty percent chance he could have become friends with the policewoman, and even developed a romantic relationship. It was a pity he never thought about these things and intentionally angered the policewoman to make her leave.

Although they had only met for less than three hours, Tang Zheng roughly guessed her character from the policewoman’s behavior. This was the simplest way to get rid of her.

"Boring!" Tang Zheng took another shower, shook his head to dispel the thoughts of the policewoman, and then deleted the photos of Teng Yuangxiang, giving her a phone call.

"Where are you? I’m alone, and it feels so desolate!" Teng Yuangxiang was excited, thinking the photo had worked, but instead, she was met with a torrent of scolding.

"What are you doing? What if I had lost my mobile phone? Do you want your pictures to be spread all over the internet?" Tang Zheng completely ignored Teng Yuangxiang’s intention to offer herself, "For these fifteen days, do not disturb me."

"Curse you to be a gay in your next life!" Listening to the beep on the phone, Teng Yuangxiang gave a bitter smile, unable to help but curse, and threw her mobile phone out.

The mobile phone hit the ground, and the case broke apart.

Tang Zheng locked the room door and used the sofa to block it before he went to have supper. During that time, he made phone calls to Qin Yan and her group members, but the calls were still switched off. Worrying was useless, so he could only go to sleep.

The spring morning was exceptionally sunny, but Tang Zheng slept until the afternoon. When he woke up, he continued to make phone calls, but still got no answer, which made him lose interest in going out. He ordered a super large dinner, and after eating, he went back to sleep.

The next day, when the sun was high, the ringtone of the mobile phone woke Tang Zheng up.

"Uncle, we’re back, and no one is dead," Lu Fan’s lively voice hit Tang Zheng’s eardrum, "I miss you so much, shall we have lunch together?"

"Good girl, spend some time with your family and rest!" Tang Zheng was entangled by Lu Fan talking until his battery ran out before ending the conversation. After replacing it with a new one, he made his rounds of calls to the other group members.

From the tone of their voices, everyone seemed to be in good spirits.

"Qin Yan, let’s have dinner together tonight and you can tell me about your gaming experience this time." When Tang Zheng said this, he was somewhat nervous, afraid of being rejected. He really didn’t know how to treat Qin Yan, but he needed the detailed account. Lin Weiguo had to go home to be with his child, so it obviously wasn’t appropriate to disturb him at this time, and he wouldn’t be satisfied with the accounts from other people.

Qin Yan agreed but brought Bai Guo with her that evening. She wasn’t the type of woman to pester relentlessly and had her own pride. After being rejected by Tang Zheng, she maintained the relationship as just friends.

Although she had many suitors, after comparing them to Tang Zheng, Qin Yan always felt that the others were lacking. Because of her age and her mother’s nagging, sometimes in her midnight dreams, she really wanted to spend ten thousand points to clone a Tang Zheng for warmth.

"Why don’t we go to KTV together?" After dinner was over, Bai Guo looked at Tang Zheng driving away and felt depressed, as she wanted to help them get together.

"Tired. I’m going home to sleep," said Qin Yan as she got into the driver’s seat and launched the car, "Are you coming or not? Otherwise, I’ll leave you behind?"

"I’m coming." Bai Guo hurriedly rounded the hood and ran to the passenger seat, her oversized breasts jiggling, causing a passing young man to nearly spurt blood from his nose.

Tang Zheng didn’t want to experience another subway station incident like two days ago, and waiting for cars was also a waste of time. Coincidentally, there was a car show in the city that day, and he went to buy a Porsche Cayenne in the afternoon, even taking care of the license plate.

Tang Zheng had captured many Space Wristwatches, which in total included more than twenty luxury sports cars, but to stay low-key and avoid unnecessary trouble, buying a car with complete documentation was the most appropriate choice.

Tang Zheng’s car speed was very slow. Through the rearview mirror, he saw Qin Yan’s Audi drive away. He sighed, suddenly feeling idle. He wanted to make a phone call to Xiu Ru to clarify their relationship, but he was afraid of hurting her heart. Looking at the ground illuminated by the dim street lights, he suddenly felt very irritable and smashed the steering wheel hard.

"Let’s go for a walk around the university!" Tang Zheng suddenly missed his college days very much. Thinking of Mu Nianqi’s words that he could return anytime, he was somewhat tempted, but he quickly suppressed the thought.

He parked the Cayenne on the side of the road, rolled down the car window, and watched the carefree students entering internet cafes, the supermarket, eating at food stalls, excitedly discussing DOTA and Warcraft. A smile formed on Tang Zheng’s lips.

"How I envy the daily life of peace!" He glanced at the brightly lit teaching buildings inside the campus and drove away.

Twenty minutes later, Tang Zheng passed by Tao Ran’s small supermarket and heard that familiar "Hotel California" again. The sound of the guitar was like a slowly flowing spring in the night; this time, it was a girl’s acapella.

Tang Zheng pushed the door open, and the singing abruptly stopped.

"Welcome!" Sitting behind the cash register, Tao Ran put down the guitar and stood up. Seeing that it was Tang Zheng, his professional smile faded to an indifferent expression.

"Hello?" The girl’s Black Long Straight hair was still clean and smooth, covering the left half of her cheek. For some reason, seeing her calmed Tang Zheng’s mood.

"Yeah!" Tao Ran’s expression was a steadfast rejection, which hurt Tang Zheng.

"Alright, I’ll go pick something!" Tang Zheng was not good at chatting with girls and, feeling awkward, walked towards the shelves. He grabbed a can of beer in frustration, opened it, and gulped it down his throat.

"Does he really like me?" Nearly a month had gone by, and just as Tao Ran was about to forget the young man who had helped her, he appeared again. She couldn’t guess his thoughts, and of course, she didn’t want to guess. She had already decided her life trajectory—to guard this supermarket until she died.

Black Long Straight stopped playing the guitar, picked up a bookmark, and opened "War and Peace," which she had borrowed from the library three days earlier, to continue reading.

Tang Zheng enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. After casually picking some food, he leaned against the shelves and sat down in a spot where he could see Black Long Straight.

The bright moon hung high, the glass door blocked the noise from the main street, and inside the store, only the occasional sound of Tao Ran turning pages remained, peaceful as if surrounded by nature. Tang Zheng could almost smell the scent of grass.

"Fallen asleep?" Half an hour later, Tao Ran put down her book and, seeing Tang Zheng actually sitting on the ground with his head tilted asleep, walked over.

For some reason, looking at Tang Zheng’s sleeping face that still carried the traces of fatigue and weariness, Black Long Straight suddenly couldn’t bear to wake him. She tiptoed closer but eventually stopped and went back to the cash register. She took the coat hanging on the chair and covered him with it.

"Work must be tiring, huh?" Tao Ran muttered to herself, returned to the cash register, flipped through some pages but found herself unable to focus. Her gaze involuntarily fell on Tang Zheng’s face, thinking of his identity, considering his background...

Very few people came to the supermarket at night, but in order to earn more money, and because she disliked having Black Long Straight at home, her stepmother used this as an excuse to drive her out.

Since graduating from high school nearly a year and a half ago, Black Long Straight spent most of her daily life in the supermarket. There was a small partition in the back where she usually rested and cooked.

"What if I had persisted back then?" This thought hadn’t surfaced for a long time. Black Long Straight rested her chin on her hands as she fell into reminiscence.

That year, after receiving her Peking University admission letter and failing to get tuition fees from her parents, she struggled. She managed to save enough money by working all summer, but the day before she was due to report, the wages she had stored in her closet disappeared. She knew her stepmother was responsible, and for the first time, she yelled out loud, only to be met with a brutal beating...

After three days of not eating nor drinking, Tao Ran gave up. She knew that starving to death would please her stepmother. In truth, Black Long Straight was afraid of death. She had had enough of the beatings every three days and rebukes every five days. She tried to slit her wrists, but when the fruit knife was actually placed on her wrist, she chickened out, she ran away!

A month later, the thoughts of suicide faded, she got used to living in the supermarket. Without quarrels or beatings, Tao Ran suddenly thought this wasn’t bad and compromised, starting a life as bland as plain water. Because she had few encounters with peers her age, she hadn’t even experienced love.

Time passed with the man sleeping and the woman’s distracted thoughts. Tao Ran watched Tang Zheng’s sleeping face and suddenly smiled, but right then, she heard a loud clang that startled her.

"You little wretch, how many times have I told you? Just leave one light on at night, you’re wasting your mother’s electricity. I’ll cut your living expenses by a hundred next month." The speaker was Tao Ran’s stepmother, a petite and somewhat chubby middle-aged woman with curled hair dyed reddish, wearing fashionable spring clothing and a pair of reddish-brown knee-high boots.
