Chapter 1098: Chapter 63: Calculations
"Superintendent, that’s not what I meant." The policewoman’s face was filled with despair, trembling under Tang Zheng’s stern tone. But aside from this method, she couldn’t think of any other tactic to make a high-ranking policeman compromise.
"Hmph, I am not afraid of being maligned, and it seems like you want to spend some time in prison." Tang Zheng turned and walked away, he hated being threatened, even if the policewoman in front of him still had her charm, he was not interested.
"No, I really can’t lose this job, I have two children to support!" The policewoman rushed over and hugged Tang Zheng from behind, "It’s all because I am too greedy. I will surrender all the money I’ve taken, and I will report those who offered the bribes."
Striving to make Tang Zheng stop, she clung on tight, dragging him back.
"Please, forgive me this one time!" The policewoman cried bitterly, realizing she couldn’t hold Tang Zheng back, who was about to reach the door handle.
Tang Zheng’s face was stern.
"I’m willing to do anything, please forgive me?" The policewoman, desperate and sweating profusely, tried to kiss his cheek.
Tang Zheng grabbed her by the back of her neck and with a fierce pull, brought her in front of him.
"What can you do?" Tang Zheng asked expressionlessly, though he had already decided to drop the idea of firing her, considering she seemed to be divorced and had a heavy family burden.
"Anything." The policewoman, left with nothing but her body to use, hurriedly began to unbuckle Tang Zheng’s belt.
At this moment, she was nothing but a willing sacrifice, her police uniform wide open, her high-heels had fallen off, now barefoot on the cold floor, shivering with tension, her pale skin covered in goosebumps.
"Alright, get dressed and take someone to arrest those who offered the bribes." Tang Zheng pushed away her hands, not yet so depraved as to take advantage of a willing woman.
"Thank you, Superintendent. I will redeem myself with good deeds," said the policewoman, hastily thanking him, and calming down as she dressed.
Having her offer of intimacy rejected by Tang Zheng, the policewoman initially felt relief, which soon turned into deep disappointment, but then she thought about other possibilities.
"Superintendent, I’ll head out now." The policewoman walked past Tang Zheng, put on her high-heels, and then left the office.
"Using your authority to play by the unspoken rules could also increase Sin Points, why not take her down?" Pang Meiqin walked in with a cup of coffee, having waited outside all along, only staying out because of the commotion inside.
"You think I’m not bad enough?" Tang Zheng retorted, took a sip of the coffee, finding it bitter, "No sugar!"
"Hmph, she was trying to use you." Pang Meiqin rolled her eyes at Tang Zheng, sat on the desk, and began to file her nails.
"Whatever, I won’t be superintendent much longer, let them talk nonsense."
Tang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.
The policewoman didn’t care about the rumors, what she wanted was status.
"Superintendent, two guys beat up one of our officers and are heading this way," the officer’s voice was frantic.
"A bunch of idiots, this is our home turf." Pang Meiqin was annoyed, pulled out her handgun, and prepared to confront the intruders.
"Don’t be mad, it must be Americans; nobody else would dare to be so brazen." Tang Zheng took several deep breaths and sat back down.
Bang, the door was kicked open; a black man walked in holding another officer by the neck, followed by Anna.
"Does our money burn your hands? It’s just for two police identities..." Anna spoke haughtily, but then her voice choked as she stared, amazed at Tang Zheng, "It’s you?"
"Why shouldn’t it be me?" Tang Zheng shrugged, not expecting the bribers to be Americans, "Let go of my subordinate; he’s just a small fry, don’t scare him."
"You got promoted?" Anna frowned, realizing their situation had become complicated. They hadn’t expected that within just a few days, Tang Zheng would climb to such a high rank. They had intended to secure a position higher than Tang Zheng by getting a substantial ranking policeman, only to end up at his doorstep.
"Well done naturally leads to promotions, but your intelligence is really terrible. If you’re going to bribe someone, shouldn’t you check the target’s status first?" Tang Zheng seemed to mock the Americans while discretely studying their expressions to gather intelligence.
Anna forced a smile; the past few days, Roger’s kidnapping plan had made them pariahs, targets of universal condemnation. If it weren’t for her and the black man having their faces unknown, even stepping out to buy groceries would require disguise, let alone conducting any investigation.
"Since we’re all survivors here, there’s no need for secrets. We need three police identities." The black man tossed the officer out of the office and then threw a leather suitcase on the floor, "There’s ten million in there, enough for you to squander."
Acting arrogantly, the black man stood, a third-order Conqueror confident in his stance.
"Are you an idiot? Think we need money?" Pang Meiqin scoffed, "That stuff’s worthless in the eyes of any survivor."
"So, what do you want?" Anna frowned, needing the police identities for the advantages they provided, especially being warned in advance during pursuits, which alone was worth the cost.
"First, get that ’ghost’ out of here, then we can talk," Pang Meiqin dismissed the black man outright.
"Who are you calling a ’ghost’?" The black man was enraged, his eyes bulging, flames igniting in his hands, ready to fight Pang Meiqin.
