Chapter 1084: Chapter 51: Daily Thugs_2
"I want to possess you," Pang Meiqin turned around and hugged Tang Zheng. "Even if it’s just for a few days. This game is getting harder, and nobody knows when they might die, so while I’m alive, I don’t want to have any regrets."
Tang Zheng sighed and ran his hand through Pang Meiqin’s hair. He couldn’t act with his teammates, he knew that the best way to make Meiqin truly his confidante was to take her, to make her his woman, but it felt unfair to her because it lacked a bit of love.
"It’s okay; you’ll definitely fall in love with me." Because of Tang Zheng’s silence, Pang Meiqin felt the distance in his demeanor and cried, tears streaking down her cheek. But there was some solace in that the man in her arms wasn’t the type to sweet-talk, he was really gentle and didn’t want to hurt her.
"You should go to sleep early." Tang Zheng kissed Pang Meiqin’s hair gently, but then the woman took control.
"Today, you are mine," Pang Meiqin said, pushing Tang Zheng back into the room.
The moonlight was like water, the beauty’s love deep!
...
The mornings in the City of God were somewhat humid and very busy. The hooligans who had entertained themselves all night were going home, leaving behind the good citizens bustling for their livelihoods, displaying a hint of vitality at this hour.
Tang Zheng’s police uniform was ruined; he went to logistics and got a new set. He had been joking around with that policewoman, but his expression darkened three hours later.
The bank had been breached by gangsters, the hospital burned down; these were major incidents. Yet the director busied himself all morning and handled these troubles.
Watching him sitting there, calm and commanding, Tang Zheng threw a cup in frustration. This guy’s connections were obviously even greater than he had thought.
"Seems like some violent measures are needed after all." Tang Zheng plotted how to get that guy to step down. He entered a convenience store, intending to kill time. Routine patrol? He wouldn’t bother with such things.
After picking up a soda and choosing some snacks, Tang Zheng stood in front of the shelf displaying newspapers and magazines, selecting between them.
There were three major news headlines: The first was about the city mayor personally overseeing the reconstruction and cleaning of the city’s drainage system. Although it was in the final stages, due to a lack of funding, the project had been temporarily shelved. Also, more than twenty workers had died in the underground pipelines, and political opponents were currently using this to attack him.
The second was that the centennial celebration of the city’s founding would be held at the St. Angel Five-Star Hotel. Many celebrities from various social circles would attend, making it a grand event for the City of God.
The third was about a severe melee that broke out in Black Fox Prison, resulting in the deaths of eleven inmates and injuring over thirty.
"Celebration? Prison?" Tang Zheng seemed to have thought of something, but he couldn’t form a complete picture. Picking up two newspapers, he walked toward the cash register, but as soon as he turned past the shelves full of goods, he heard the cashier’s scream and a gunshot.
"Shut up! Move to the side." The thug, his head covered by black stockings, shouted, pushing back the cashier and grabbing money from inside the cash register to stuff into a small bag. He had two accomplices: one keeping watch at the front door, and the other opening the fridge to take the beer he liked.
"Are you stupid? How can you run carrying such heavy stuff?" The thug cursed, and then fell silent as he saw a policeman standing several meters away, magazines tucked under his arm, drinking his beverage, his other hand getting out money.
"Don’t move." The thug cursed and immediately pointed his gun at Tang Zheng, firing a shot next to him as a warning, shattering several bottles of shampoo on the shelf.
Tang Zheng pulled out a shotgun, cocked it with one hand, and aimed it at the thug.
Boom—the shotgun blast erupted, directly blowing off the thug’s head covered in black stockings. The headless corpse fell down. The one who had been grabbing beer was just aiming at Tang Zheng when he took a shot to the chest, blood and flesh muddled, slamming against the fridge.
The hooligan keeping watch by the door pissed himself and turned to run.
Tang Zheng’s face was cold as he fired with one hand, the bullets shattering the glass door, then striking the fleeing thug in the back.
The hooligan, because of the force of the blow, was flung, toppled, and rolled into the street where two cars immediately braked, narrowly missing flattening him into a meatloaf.
"How much is it in total?" Tang Zheng placed the newspaper and the drink on the cash register, not caring at all about those three corpses. His composure was unparalleled, and at that time outside, chaos had already ensued. The presence of the corpse had cars scrambling to get away, fearing they’d be dragged into some trouble.
"Twelve US dollars in total," the cashier stuttered, terrified.
Tang Zheng took out twenty US dollars and placed them on the table, then picked up eight coins in change as he stepped over the corpse and left.
"You again? What exactly did they do wrong to be beaten to death by you?" Cristina just happened to be passing by and saw the conflict here. Thinking it was a major scoop, she didn’t expect to run into Tang Zheng.
"Robbery." Tang Zheng finished his drink, crushed the aluminum can into a ball, and tossed it into a trash bin ten or so meters away.
"You could’ve fired a warning shot, then captured them. They were just 17 or 18 years old," the reporter’s sense of justice erupted, and she roared at Tang Zheng, "You’re just a murderer, devoid of any humanitarian spirit."
"What’s that? Can you eat it?" Tang Zheng continued to stroll, but the reporter wasn’t ready to let him go.
"I’m going to file a complaint against you."
"Please do." Tang Zheng grabbed the walkie-talkie and reported the conflict to headquarters. He no longer needed the credit, so many policemen volunteered to handle it eagerly.
The reporter followed Tang Zheng for a full hour, during which she constantly spouted off, lecturing him about ideals and justice.
"Give me a ticket." Tang Zheng, truly annoyed, bought a movie ticket and went in.
The reporter was not ready to compromise and bought a ticket as well.
This was just a small cinema that could accommodate 800 people. At the moment, a love drama was playing. Altogether, there were barely thirty people watching the film, mostly couples who accompanied each other. However, they weren’t focused on the movie—they were either kissing or whispering sweet nothings to each other.
Tang Zheng found his seat in the front row on the right and sat down. Less than two minutes later, the reporter sat next to him holding a bucket of popcorn and a cup of Coke.
"You’re watching a movie during work hours, I’m going to complain about you," the reporter glared at Tang Zheng vehemently, venting her dissatisfaction.
"If your complaint is successful, then all the officers will have to leave their jobs. Besides, this is a cinema, please keep quiet," Tang Zheng shrugged indifferently, closed his eyes to rest, but soon furrowed his brow and turned around.
In the front row in the center, there was an interesting duo: a man in his forties and a fifteen-year-old girl, and behind them were six young men and women who were talking and laughing loudly, belittling the movie.
The man turned around, for the third time, and gestured for them to be quiet, but it had no effect. Instead, he was hit by a can of Coke.
"Ignore them," the girl tugged at him.
The young people laughed and began to pelt them with popcorn for fun.
"FU~CK, YOU!" The man turned back around, and the youths collectively raised their middle fingers, cursing at him.
"FU~CK, YOU!" The man retorted, and suddenly pulled out a handgun from his coat and fired at the young man who cursed at him first.
