Chapter 1048: Chapter 26 Revenge Must Be Served (Three updates, 10,000 words)_2
Indigenous people faced the fierce offensive of the Conquerors, utterly powerless to resist, retreating step by step. Under the enormous pressure of death, they finally began to flee, regardless of the punishment that would be meted out by the Gangs if caught.
The combat had reached its conclusion after six minutes.
"Tang Zheng, move everything." Dantai rushed into the warehouse, smashed the wooden crates with the butt of his gun, and gazed at the gleaming bullets and the brand-new firearms wrapped in oil paper with glee.
Tang Zheng’s Space Wristwatch was an enhanced version, completely capable of transporting these military goods worth over thirty million. But the very next second, screams and cries of horror from newbies in a neighboring warehouse reached his ears.
Rushing over, they saw a Minotaurus standing in the warehouse, holding a Japanese female newbie by the ankle and repeatedly slamming her into the ground.
It was a demon with the body of a bull and a human torso, three meters tall and robust, wielding a bloodstained battle-axe. It was the guardian demon of the Tuna Gang; once the warehouse was attacked, it would be summoned from the magic array engraved in the warehouse to strike the enemies.
The skin of the female newbie was bursting apart as blood splattered everywhere. Her bones were completely shattered. Dead, yet the demon didn’t let her go, placed her on the ground, raised the axe, and cleaved her into two, then pulling out her heart and tossing it into its mouth.
The newbies retched, frightened by the gruesome scene.
The Minotaur, having devoured the heart, glared at the survivors and charged.
"Let’s get out." The Self-Defense Force Captain, having recovered from the shock, began to return fire boldly. He was only taking care of his compatriots, Sekiya Ganta and Aoki Hiroshi, who were also fighting.
The newbies hastened to evacuate the warehouse.
"Stop firing." Xu Liangmao roared like a tiger, entering his beastly state and pouncing out to confront the Minotaur. Yu Manli also closed in, hoping her performance would win Tang Zheng’s trust and favor.
"Attack together, full firepower, take it down." Dantai wanted no delay and let out a Mental Impact. "Tang Zheng, you go take care of the firearms."
Tang Zheng took a rare chance to slack off. In less than a minute, he had cleared out the firearms from all six warehouses. When he came back, the Minotaur was already slain, leaving behind two Golden Seeds.
Dantai didn’t take them and distributed them to Li Xinlan and the miserable man, as they had contributed the most. Yu Manli hadn’t slacked off, but compared to the widow’s lethality and the miserable man’s dedication, she still fell short.
"Let’s get out!" With spoils of war in hand, the next step was to cover their tracks and create a false impression to prevent the victims from guessing who was responsible.
On the way back, Pang Meiqin took the wheel, her superb driving skills allowing her to burst forth, shaking off several cars that tried to tail them, even Americans who gave chase for two blocks before losing their trail.
Back at the Dali Hua Hotel, the hearts of the newbies were still pounding, unable to calm down because one of their compatriots died. The Japanese had poor complexions, but they knew it wasn’t anyone’s fault to blame, just bad luck.
"Let’s go, we’ve got a score to settle!" Dantai called for Tang Zheng and Pang Meiqin to take revenge on Crooked-mouth John.
Being one of the top five bosses, John had committed many wrongdoings, and naturally had many enemies. Unfortunately for him, his ten bodyguards were no match for the Conquerors.
With brute force, Dantai twisted the door lock off its hinges and entered the living room.
The bodyguards, caught completely off guard by the direct breach through the main entrance, barely woke up and didn’t even manage to get to their feet before they were stunned by a round of Mental Impact. Dantai then opened fire with his handgun, precisely hitting each at the center of their foreheads, without a single missed shot.
"Do you do assassinations often?" Tang Zheng was curious, noting Dantai’s proficiency. "Who’s the most valuable target you’ve ever killed?"
"It’s a state secret." Dantai was unconcerned about talking might reveal something, as no one in the apartment could stop them. "But I can tell you it was a colonel, a British one."
Tang Zheng and the others entered the bedroom to find John still snoring like a pig, blissfully unaware on the bed.
"Go ahead!" Tang Zheng stepped aside, knowing Dantai had had it in for this guy for a long time.
Dantai pulled out an M9 Military Dagger and shoved it into John’s mouth.
The icy sensation startled John awake and, because he instinctively closed his mouth, the sharp edge of the knife cut open his tongue and lips, flooding his mouth with blood.
Just as John tried to cry for help, the military knife was thrust in a bit further, frightening him into quickly shutting his mouth.
Pang Meiqin turned on the chandelier.
John saw it was Dantai and made a whining noise in his throat, pleading for mercy, but the special agent paid no attention.
"I’ve said it before, if you say the wrong thing, you have to take responsibility," Dantai’s tone was frighteningly cold, "and I hate it when people try to act tough in front of me."
Thud, thud, Dantai opened fire, shooting into John’s armature. The guy tried to reach for the handgun hidden under another pillow but got caught.
"But it doesn’t matter now; you won’t have the chance to say anything wrong anymore." Dantai continued to fire, shattering John’s other hand.
John was so pained that his forehead was drenched in sweat. He wanted to scream, but when his mouth instinctively clamped shut, the knife cut him again, and blood streamed down from the corner of his mouth.
"Alright, I’m leaving now, I hope you remember this lesson." Dantai turned the knife handle, gashing John’s mouth, then rose to his feet, aimed at his ankle, and opened fire several times, knocking off the entire foot. The sheet was soaked with blood.
"If you’re lucky, you’ll be discovered before you take your last breath and sent to the hospital. However, I doubt the Tuna Gang would care for an invalid, and your enemies will seize the chance to kick you while you’re down."
Hearing Dantai’s words, John clearly foresaw the terrible predicament awaiting him, trembling with fright and, compounded by blood loss, his body began to convulse and spasm. At the time of death, his face was grotesquely twisted.
Tang Zheng blew open the safe and took out all the gold and diamonds inside.
The next morning, the whole South City was in chaos. The Tuna Gang, having lost their firearms, searched thoroughly in every corner. Tang Zheng and his party, having bought firearms yesterday, were naturally a prime target. However, because all the firearms had been stuffed into the Space Wristwatch and Dantai had handled the aftermath very well, they aroused no suspicion.
The Tuna Gang found the blasted bus at the garrison of the third gang. After failing to seek an explanation and receiving no satisfaction, war broke out. Coupled with various smaller gangs fighting over the territory left by the Viper Gang, combat had become unmanageable, resulting in complete chaos in South City.
"The more chaotic, the better," Dantai was very pleased with the situation, lavishly throwing money to hire quite a few jobless natives to join the combat.
Tang Zheng didn’t want to become a godfather and planned to take a different path, but first, he needed to acquire a legal identity to live openly under the sunlight of the City of God.
Anna, the native, came through once again, leading Tang Zheng to a lawyer.
"You want a legal identity? That’s very difficult!" The male lawyer was actually an ’acquaintance’, the very client who favored being mistreated that they’d met at Milly’s place the previous day. Although he still appeared haggard, dressed in a suit, he looked somewhat successful, at least in Anna’s eyes, who thought he was living a much better life than her.
"In short, can you do it or not?" Actually, seeing this rundown office, Tang Zheng knew the chances were slim, but having an idea of what to do made things much easier—he could seek out a powerful and influential lawyer.
"I can’t do it, but I can connect you with someone who can, for a small commission." It had been a long time since the man had received a paycheck, so he was very eager, "I’ll introduce you to Attorney Federer. He’s the most famous lawyer in the City of God. He has connections with many politicians and police officers. Many illegal immigrants go to him to obtain a legal status."
"Mr. Federer? I’ve heard of him, an honorable citizen of the City of God, a famous philanthropist." Anna also kept up with the news, after all.
"Yes, him."
"Hmph, the price must also be steep, right?" Observing the man’s hesitation, Tang Zheng guessed things weren’t so simple, but he didn’t call it out, "It seems very quiet here, you haven’t had any customers for a long time, have you?"
The man was not good at hiding his feelings and his face turned awkward.
"I’ll hire you for seven days as my private lawyer." Tang Zheng wasn’t familiar with the laws of the City of God and was wary of being fleeced by Federer, so he hired this man.
