Chapter 1032: Chapter 13: The Beginning of Slaughter and Annihilation
Although it’s called the City of God, every corner and sewer of this city is filled with sin and blood, an immense irony.
This place is a forbidden zone for the righteous, a paradise for the fallen.
This is Sin City, a city brimming with darkness, decline, and decay. Every minute, you can witness acts of violence unfold, gang fights, clients brutalizing prostitutes, even children constantly thinking about how to empty your wallet.
What came into Tang Zheng’s view was just such a ’luxurious’ city, already ravaged by violence and desire, filled with narrow streets and dilapidated buildings. Aside from a few struggling to survive, most are lost in a decadent haze.
Scar-faced thugs engaged in a brawl, corrupt policemen extorting peddlers, wealthy individuals puffing on cigars as they enter clubs, and sexy, unscrupulous prostitutes all painted a picture of abstract decadence!
Here is a living hell for the living, a playground for the dead!
Tang Zheng took a deep breath, as if every bit of air was tinged with sin and corruption, irritating the nostrils and revolting to the senses.
The survivors said nothing, standing on the misty, drizzling streets, observing everything around them.
Under the eaves next door, two prostitutes without clients were smoking and sheltering from the rain. Their clothes were revealing, a lot of skin exposed to the outside. When they saw a man looking their way, they immediately pulled up the edges of their ultra-short skirts, revealing their underwear underneath, eager to seduce a client.
The technology controlled by the Trojans was very advanced. The appearance of hundreds of survivors didn’t cause any disturbance to the environment, and even the prostitutes felt like they had always been there.
Whistles sounded again, breaking the rare tranquility. Subsequently, several groups of survivors began to exchange information, discussing what to do next.
"Is this Sin City?" Dantai looked up to the sky, "It’s getting close to evening, let’s find a place to stay first."
"It seems we have no money," Yu Manli spread her hands. She overheard the conversations of the prostitutes. Though they were speaking English, they didn’t necessarily use US dollars.
"Open the box and put on the protective clothing," Tang Zheng said routinely. Whether or not the newbies listened was up to them, after all, he didn’t have much time to waste.
"The teams will split up soon. Should we prepare in advance?" Dantai couldn’t wait for these foreign newbies to die off quickly. That would save a lot of trouble. "What about the American Conquerors?"
The other side was also sizing up the Warhammer team.
"I’m left with only a dagger, let’s get some weapons first!" Tang Zheng tried to retrieve something from his wristwatch and failed, which meant food would also become a big problem.
"Same here," Dantai pulled out the handgun from his holster, but no bullet came out when he pulled the trigger. It was restricted.
The Mexican drug dealers were the first to act, sending out a six-man squad to a bar some twenty meters away to gather information.
The Italian Team, the Japanese Team, and the Nordic Team, seeing this, remained still, waiting for the results. The American Team, large in numbers and cautious, sent two young men to follow.
"Sir, would you like to buy a newspaper?" A twelve-year-old boy in a white shirt that had been washed pale came over, offering newspapers to an Italian youth standing on the periphery, his face full of hope.
"No," the young man, wearing swimming trunks, shook his head, shooing the boy away. The stench emanating from him was nauseating.
"There’s something off about that boy," Dantai narrowed his eyes slightly, looking around.
"How do you know?" Tao Tao was surprised and asked. She thought the boy looked pitiful.
"Look at his hands, they’re all stained. Do you think anyone would buy such a newspaper? If he was a newsboy, he would carefully cherish the newspapers, as they are related to his dinner," Tang Zheng explained. "They must have been stolen."
Tao Tao was in awe of the group leader, with stars of admiration in her eyes.
Song Tong and the two prostitutes were all astounded, his observational skills were terrifying. Lin Fachan and An Fei glanced at Tang Zheng, while the other newbies were still hesitant, watching the boy.
"Pah, beggar!" The boy suddenly revealed a fierce expression, spat a gob of phlegm onto the thigh of the swimsuit youth, and took off running.
"Little bastard," the swimsuit-clad youth was furious and chased after him with his box.
"Don’t chase, it could be a trick," the female conqueror from the American Team frowned, warning her. Then she received an alert on her wristwatch, looked at it, her face turned pale, and she shut her mouth.
"What do you think she saw?" Dantai studied the woman and thought she should be the brains of the American Team.
"It must be related to that warning. Newbies, sin points, um, could it mean that this round we can’t do any good deeds?" Tang Zheng guessed. He was about to shout the same warning to the youth chasing into an alley but was silenced by Dantai with a hand over his mouth.
"Don’t shout, it’s definitely not something good."
"Do you think I want to do this?" Tang Zheng gave Dantai a cold look. If he had more time, he’d certainly trick someone else into doing it.
The man in swim trunks chased into the alleys, only to see the Newsboy cursing at him and spitting. But because he wasn’t careful, he fell to the ground. Overjoyed, he rushed up and started kicking.
"Stop hitting me, I was wrong, I’ll give you the stolen diamonds!" the Newsboy shouted, putting on a pitiful act.
At the mention of diamonds, the man in underwear paused, eyeing the boy’s hand as he reached inside his jacket.
"Here you go!" The Newsboy dove at the man in underwear, pulling out not diamonds but a sharp dagger, which he plunged straight into his heart with a fierce twist.
This child was clearly used to killing, his movements brutal, skilled, and steady. The added element of surprise left the young man unprepared, and he was hit.
"You..." The strength drained from the young man in his underwear, and he collapsed to the ground.
Spurt, spurt, the Newsboy’s face twisted in savagery as he stabbed twice more before stopping. Then he began to search the man’s pockets. Two other boys jumped down from a rooftop nearby, one helping him loot the body, the other keeping watch over the alleyway.
The Italians heard their companion’s scream, and their faces changed as they ran toward the alley, only to find a body lying in a pool of blood, and they started yelling.
The brutality of this city was epitomized by a child setting up an ambush and killing in broad daylight, shocking all the newbies.
Before they could even react to the shock, greater carnage arrived. Suddenly, gunshots and the sound of breaking bottles erupted from the bar. Seconds later, two panicked American youngsters ran out, followed by three Mexican drug dealers who were retreating and shooting back as they went.
"Run!" Tang Zheng yelled, making a decisive retreat.
The Mexican drug dealers rushed out to support their companions, but it was too late. The three unfortunate souls barely made it out of the bar before being riddled with bullets and collapsing on the steps. Then five burly men, armed with what were known as ’Chicago Typewriters’—Thompson Submachine Guns—came out, unleashing a hail of bullets at the Mexicans.
Soon the street was filled with the roar of gunfire as the newbies fled.
The two American youths ultimately couldn’t escape, took bullets in their vests, and were killed.
The Mexicans, who believed in an eye for an eye, lost six men in an instant and were nearly exploding with rage. They started a shootout, intending to slaughter everyone in the bar, which unwittingly gave the newbies some time to run for their lives.
Under the Conquerors’ leadership, the Americans left through an alleyway, with the Nordic Team and the Italian Team following. The Japanese Team hesitated for a moment, but finally, at the insistence of the sakura girl, they followed the Warhammer Team.
"There’s no advantage of time, location, or coordination, why even fight?" Dantai mocked the Mexicans. They had the brute strength but lacked adaptability. In truth, he had overestimated them; those were just poorly disciplined grunts who wouldn’t have died in the shootout otherwise.
After losing four more men, the cold reality set in for the Mexican drug dealers, prompting a retreat. But they were chased down by the gangsters, unable to escape, and with snipers taking potshots, their rear was cut off within ten meters. Three were taken down on the spot, morale plummeted, and the remaining three ran for their lives, though they too couldn’t escape death.
An old man perched in a second-story cabin took out one of the dealers, then shouldered his rifle and roared down at the street, "That’s my spoils of war, nobody touch it!"
Unfortunately, nobody heeded his warning. The crowd from the bar swarmed out, stripped the Mexicans bare, and even the bodies didn’t go to waste—they were eventually dragged away by two boys and sold to a restaurant.
The rain intensified, quickly washing away the blood on the ground. Less than twenty minutes into the game, sixteen Mexican drug dealers had been annihilated due to their conceit and lack of caution.
"Where do we go now? Our clothes are soaked through!" Ruan Feifei was dissatisfied with the efficiency; everyone had only half their abilities, but killing those thugs was still no challenge.
"You guys find a place to get out of the rain; I’m going to find some hookers," Tang Zheng said, dashing into the rain curtain.
"At a time like this, still thinking about women? What trash." Yin Zhijian disparaged Tang Zheng, wanting everyone to despise him, but he completely underestimated Tang Zheng’s reputation within the group.
Several cold gazes swept over, and before Meiqin could act, Yuanxiang had already darted beside Yin Zhijian and slapped his cheek, then kicked him hard between the legs with her knee-high boots.
Yin Zhijian screamed in agony, clutching his lower abdomen as he fell, curling up like a shrimp.
"That’s for your foul mouth. Don’t you know what you are? Is Tang Zheng someone for you to comment on?" Yuanxiang swung her shoe tip and kicked Yin Zhijian in the mouth, instantly splitting his lip and causing blood to pour out along with several teeth.
Teng Little Three vented all her accumulated resentment on him.
"Enough," Dantai intervened, or else there might be a death.
** generally had a good understanding of the nearby terrain and power dynamics, and asking them questions wouldn’t attract much attention, which is why Tang Zheng targeted them.
Soon enough, a target appeared in his sight: a blonde in a leopard-print miniskirt, her legs wrapped in black stockings, standing under an eave, boredly touching up her makeup. Upon seeing Tang Zheng looking her way, she immediately stood up with excitement..
The hooker licked her lips and threw a seductive glance, attempting to tempt Tang Zheng.
