Chapter 93: The Other World (2)

When Rise lifted his gaze, he found that Kamille was also looking at him. He probably saw how his lips curled into a knowing smile, but he did not avoid the gaze and broadened his smile instead.

Kamille narrowed his eyes, though he did not say anything in the end.

Rise laughed, he was not afraid to be more suspicious than he already was.

He thought of what happened in the past, which made this gate the most shocking. The losses of the small and medium guilds could be said to be huge. They sent their elites and not many... returned alive.

Heh, this was the government’s scheme after all.

They did not actually tell everything, and they used these guilds to probe the other side and also as cannon fodders. The Federation was not naive enough to think that the other world would discuss peacefully, and if the situation was reversed, they might do the same thing when unknown individuals start to arrive on the world already invaded by the gates.

Thus, this situation happened.

"Things will become lively at that side," Rise revealed his thoughts in a calm manner, but the trace of ridicule in his eyes could be clearly discerned. "It won’t be too late to join later."

Rise could have used his knowledge to tip off others, he could have utilized his secret channels to put a stop to the government’s scheme, but why would he do that?

He was not obligated to stop every or any event from happening just because he knew about it. After all... He was no hero; wasn’t he a villain?

People would die, and that was their fate, then or now, it would not change. What does that have to do with Rise? His conscience was questionable but clear without any guilt.

"I realized... Are we finally seeing the legendary elves?" Kianna’s excited voice overtook the silence, her eyes shining with anticipation.

Although they had seen so-called elves on gates, but they were nowhere near the beautiful elves of the legends but more like some kind of tree humanoid monster.

"Ri-right!" Adelline, stopped in her actions of cleaning the dust. "I also want to see them!"

People had that fantasy at some point, and Adelline was no different.

Looking at the ladies, Rise, sitting leisurely at the small table, chuckled.

"Not to disappoint you, but there are no elves here." Rise was never merciful, even with the ladies, dampening their good mood. The two stopped and looked at him with an inquiring gaze. "There are Orcs though, as far as I know."

In an instant, the two women seemed to become deflated like a balloon, deciding to continue tidying up their temporary dwelling with pouts on their faces.

Seeing this, Rise’s lips hooked up.

"Stop ruining their f...cough!" Hayes at the side coughed as dust accumulated on the mat he was holding. He glared at Rise. "Just let the girls fantasize; it won’t scratch your skin."

Rise shrugged, crossing his legs like the young master as he looked at his servants tidying up and organizing the room for him. This situation was not even that far from that reality.

"It’s better than being disappointed later."

He knew that there weren’t elves since this world was more dominated by humans, orcs, and dwarves. As for why there weren’t any elves? Rise did not care.

What he said made sense that Hayes’ could only bit his lips in frustration. He could never win with him.

"Wait," Hayes finally noticed. "Why aren’t you helping?" He raised a brow, frowning at Rise, who was sitting comfortably watching them do the work.

As it was already late, they decided to spend the night and rest. This was also to avoid fighting and encountering monsters. Some of them were more active at night.

Since it was all ruins everywhere, they could only find a relatively intact house. They were lucky enough to see one, although it needed cleaning for being so abandoned for so long.

The second floor was already destroyed, so basically they could only use the first floor, which was not a problem for them as a temporary camp. It was better than sleeping outside.

Rise burst out of laughter; he was finding it so cute that Hayes only noticed it now when he was even commanding him earlier, pointing some spot to clean, and the other obeyed without thinking.

"Well, I don’t know how to clean." Rise answered without any kind of sincerity.

Hayes stared at him deeply. Rise was obviously lying.

"It’s up to you if you don’t want to believe me."

Rise continued to slack off, not intending to help at all.

There was no way he would be able to touch those dusty layers, much less clean them. If he was alone, maybe he would, but since there were others... He did not need to do anything.

"You really..." Hayes were lost for words.

"What?" Rise raised a brow, "Just clean, Vice Leader. Look at them; they are so focused unlike you. Talk less, clean more."

Hayes’ temple throbbed; finally he exhaled and gritted these teeth before calling for Oren.

"You clean here, let’s switch. I don’t want to see someone’s slacker face."

Oren without asking too much did switch with Hayes.

Rise laughed again.

So cute. This was the reason he loved teasing Hayes; he was so easily annoyed.

Everyone was cleaning other than him, after a moment, he stood up. Just as Hayes thought he was about to help them he already waved his hand.

"I’ll go look for Guild Leader."

He did not even hear any reply before he already dashed off and left.

"This..." Hayes sighed heavily. "Truly a young master."

Looking at the door, Hayes turned to the other members. "Let’s just finished so we can rest."

Rise, who left and dumped all the cleaning responsibilities on the other members, did plan to look for Kamille.

His gaze wandered the silent and dark surroundings. Aside from the lights that were coming from their temporary camp, the two moons that were in the sky illuminated the surroundings.

He could not help but raise his head and stare at the two full moons in the sky. Rise almost did not blink as he marveled at its beauty. While the ruins painted a rather tragic sight, the two moons were still a spectacle one could not help but be amazed seeing for the first time.

Rise fell silent.

Slowly, he bit his lips, but he did not stop the smile that was about to appear on his lips. Nostalgia slowly seeped into his being, looking at the moon and the familiar surroundings.

He could not help but reminisce...

The first time he met Kamille.
