Imposter Young Master -
Chapter 920 - 925: Five Years (Part Two)
Chapter 920: Chapter 925: Five Years (Part Two)
The yellow sand stretched vast and endless.
Yang Gang struggled to lift his head, his gaze swiftly scanning the over one thousand desert red foxes ahead, among which at least thirty possessed divine skills.
Yang Gang didn’t even know how many times he had encountered a pack of foxes like this.
Though he had successfully annihilated or repelled the red foxes in previous encounters, the scale of today’s encounter far exceeded the bearing range of the extremely exhausted Yang Gang!
What was worse, he had gotten separated from Little Little and Little Ao! Even if he wanted Little Ao’s help, there was no way to ask for it now.
"Damn it, heaven wants to doom me," a trace of unwillingness crossed his heart as he looked up at the blazing sun, his expression bleak.
Yang Gang couldn’t even remember how many times he had faced such life-or-death crises. At first, he still had confidence to break through, but as the battles grew harder and the situation more dire, he himself had lost faith.
"Since being transported here, exactly how long has it been?"
Yang Gang didn’t know.
Ever since he arrived, he had been constantly hunted by various desert monsters.
Endless battles, perpetual slaughter, relentless fleeing, without a chance to think about anything else.
In this boundless and dangerous desert, time had become the most meaningless thing.
Yang Gang felt that he was about to forget time itself.
Distracted, he collected his emotions; a trace of shock passed through his pupils as he lifted his long saber and diagonally slashed out a startling arc.
The golden light of the saber was particularly eerie under the brilliant shine, to the extent that even the sun overhead seemed to dim momentarily.
The red foxes opposite could truly sense the terrifying energy contained within the slash.
Almost at the moment the saber light flashed out, a gap appeared among the desert red foxes that surrounded Yang Gang.
Seeing this, Yang Gang steeled his heart and focused all his energy on fleeing.
His figure flickered, a residual image slipping by, his true body already flashing past the fox pack, running towards the far backside.
The red foxes seemed to not react for a moment. Several breaths later, the giant fox leading them let out a long howl, and the pack of foxes, enraged and humiliated, chased after him.
Yang Gang, fleeing for his life, didn’t dare to look back; his strong desire to survive temporarily made him cast aside the negative emotions that this lonely and desolate wasteland life had brought him.
This man and the many foxes unleashed a hunt of war in the desert.
Although Yang Gang was fast, even so, the distance between the prey and the pursuers kept closing in.
Bitter resentment welled in Yang Gang’s heart, and he gritted his teeth, once again increasing his speed.
Who knows how long it had been, but when a flash of green suddenly streaked across Yang Gang’s pupils, he came to an abrupt stop, joy in his heart.
Could it be...
Looking ahead, a few miles away, lush woods stood out unusually in the midst of the desert!
With hope in his heart, Yang Gang bit down on his teeth once more and desperately ran forwards.
Moments later, Yang Gang had already reached the woodlands first, with over a hundred desert red foxes hot on his heels.
Yang Gang stood atop higher ground, and as he looked around, his expression suddenly became strange.
An odd scene suddenly broke into his field of vision.
Below the high ground, guarded by a ring of towering trees, lay an inner desert spanning a hundred miles, unexpectedly appearing before his eyes, the golden yellow sand exceptionally striking.
Yang Gang instinctively surveyed his surroundings, finding himself in what appeared to be ring-shaped, lush green mountains, densely forested and covered with underbrush. Yet within these sweeping mountains lay an inexplicably large desert, an odd anomaly indeed.
The rolling hills and verdant vegetation encircled the golden sands at their center, creating an eerily striking contrast! How could a seemingly vibrant green forested region contain a hundred-mile radius desert? Or conversely, how did a lush ring-shaped mountain suddenly emerge in the midst of a vast desert?
Although Yang Gang felt there was something peculiar about this mysterious desert, he dashed towards it like a bolt of lightning without hesitation. He had no choice; if he continued to flee in the outer desert as before, he would either be killed by the desert red foxes or die of exhaustion. By escaping into this enigmatic desert, perhaps he would stand a chance to survive while the red foxes had not yet caught up.
After dozens of breaths, the pack of red foxes finally reached the mountain range, neither too high nor too small. The leading red fox, casting a reluctant gaze at Yang Gang fleeing into the desert, hesitated slightly, its eyes filled with unwillingness, but ultimately, it left, tail swishing behind.
They seemed to dare not venture into these mountains.
-----
After the red foxes retreated, Yang Gang lay on a patch of grassland, gasping for air.
Before he could catch his breath, a sudden surge of purple smoke a few kilometers away roared into an uncontrollable, tyrannical release of energy.
A ball of fire, with the heat to melt a mountain, burst forth with a ’boom,’ like a blooming lotus, coming at him from the side.
The skyward aggression transformed into billowing vapors of clouds.
The world grew dark in an instant as if the heavens were manipulated by someone’s whim; the edge of what had been a clear sky suddenly became shrouded in a persistent mist, with misty fog whirling about. Sudden peals of thunder shook the void, sowing chaos below as the purple lightning on either side of the clouds, attracted by the violent energy, crackled like a tumultuous tide. The purple fog spreading all around was completely engulfed by the purple smoke, or perhaps they merged indistinguishably.
"Damn it, what’s going on!" Yang Gang exclaimed, scrambling to his feet from the ground.
Then, not long after, a colossal creature nearly a thousand zhang in size, its body ablaze with purple flames, stood proudly in the void, and let out a long howl that resonated for thousands of miles, the waves of sound like tangible blades, leaving a trail of ’sizzling’ as the vital energy burned in its path.
The moment the bird-shaped monster revealed itself from the purple smoke, its body swelled against the wind.
A sharp screech, and the world was startled.
"Damn! What kind of monster is this?!"
Yang Gang finally understood why the red foxes didn’t dare set foot here.
"Wow, a Fire Phoenix Beast, heavens, I’ve actually foreseen a legendary top-tier monster," Little said, popping out from somewhere.
Little Ao followed close behind Little.
Upon seeing Yang Gang, Little Ao immediately rushed towards him in excitement.
Yang Gang was momentarily stunned, but then overjoyed.
Since they had been separated by an attack from a tiger-shaped monster, Yang Gang had heard neither hide nor hair of Little or Little Ao for a long, long time. He had thought their reunion hopeless, yet here they were, miraculously reunited.
He put his joy of reunion on hold, as Yang Gang had a more pressing question.
"Little, how long has it been since we were transported to the Pandora Star?"
After calculating with her fingers, Little answered, "Hmm... by Earth’s time, about five years, I guess."
Pfft!
Yang Gang nearly spewed blood.
"Damn! Are you kidding me? Five years and I still haven’t made it out of this desert!"
Remembering something else, Yang Gang grew even more despondent, "Five years... Little Yang Fan must be around five by now, right?"
Little looked at Yang Gang and remarked, "Still thinking about rescuing Mistress Miao? Forget it. We might not even make it out of this desert ourselves. Besides, after five years, Mistress Miao might already be remarried on Pandora Star. Not to mention Lady Ya and Xiaorou, they could well be married with children by now."
