Chapter 649: Chapter 652: Christmas Eve (3)_1

In a high-end coffee shop in Hangcheng City.

Yang Fei, sat by the window in a white chiffon dress that skimmed her knees. The dress contrasted starkly against her black stockings, creating a visually-striking effect.

Opposite her sat Sima Bing, dressed in a full suit.

"Feifei, you look beautiful today," Sima Bing’s calm and gentle voice broke the silence.

Yang Fei laughed: "Thank you."

Sima Bing took a sip of his coffee, his gaze shifted to the window as he hesitated, then said softly, "I always imagined that you would dress up especially for me, but it seems that was just my wishful thinking."

"Uh..." Yang Fei lowered her head, staying silent for a moment before looking up at Sima Bing and saying, "Teacher Sima, I..."

Sima Bing gestured her to stop: "You don’t have to say anything. I think I already know your answer."

He paused for a moment, then said: "Our agreement was due tonight at twelve o’clock, but you asked me out at six in the evening. You’re all dressed up. It seems to me that you want me to give up quickly so you can go to other appointments. Am I right?"

Yang Fei opened her mouth, wanting earnestly to apologize, but all that came out was, "I’m sorry."

Sima Bing gave a bitter smile: "It doesn’t matter, I was prepared. But..."

He paused, then, locking his gaze onto Yang Fei, added: "The thing is, I thought what you liked was a mature, stable, romantic man with artistic talent. I have strived to be that man. But when I became that man, I realized what you like is not exactly that."

After another brief silence, he looked into Yang Fei’s eyes and asked softly, "Feifei, can you tell me what kind of man you really like?"

Yang Fei’s expression turned somber.

Sima Bing was right. She’d always told herself she should fall for a mature, stable, and romantic man with artistic talent.

But when a ’Prince Charming’ who perfectly fit this description showed up before her, her heart didn’t flutter with excitement.

Why was that?

She remained silent, unable to find an answer.

Seeing that Yang Fei did not reply, Sima Bing gave another faint bitter smile: "If you don’t want to answer, that’s okay. Feifei, although you rejected me, I don’t regret falling for you. Instead, I feel extremely lucky to have loved you. Without you, I wouldn’t be the person I am today."

Yang Fei knew Sima Bing was referring to his journey from an ordinary piano teacher to a world-renowned piano master.

She felt a bit awkward.

After all, she had casually made a promise to Sima Bing back then, a promise she’d broken after he’d reached his goal.

At this moment, Sima Bing stood up and gaze at Yang Fei: "But now, it’s all over. I will try to give you up. I won’t bother you again. And I sincerely wish you happiness. Well, that’s it, goodbye."

Without waiting for Yang Fei to respond, Sima Bing walked away.

As Sima Bing left the café, a charming woman walked up to him: "Hmm... It’s quite surprising. I didn’t expect you to give up so easily."

Sima Bing glanced at the woman. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small listening device, crushed it, and said indifferently, "Han Yan, stop these petty tricks!"

He paused, turned back to look at Yang Fei sitting dazed in the café, and said flatly, "And no, I haven’t given up. This is called retreating in order to advance. Many women do not realize your worth until you leave."

"Hmm, I see." Han Yan glanced at Yang Fei remained silent.

Then Sima Bing and Han Yan left.

Moon-viewing hill, Hangcheng City.

It was a high ground in the city center of Hangcheng City. From there, you could gaze at the stars and moon, or overlook the city, making it a famous spot in Hangcheng.

There stood Yang Gang alone, gazing silently at the starry sky under the veil of the night.

The sky was cloudy, devoid of stars. One could only wonder what Yang Gang was looking at.

Just then, footsteps gradually approached from behind.

Yang Gang turned around, his eyes lighting up slightly.

It was Gu Ge.

Although they both had long hair, Gu Ge and Gu Xiaorou had different styles. Gu Xiaorou preferred to part her hair on the left, while Gu Ge favored the right.

"Gu Ge, why are you here?" Yang Gang tried to look composed as he asked with a faint smile.

"Hmm, there’s still some time before the party, so I thought I’d come here to greet the Christmas snow." Gu Ge said lightly with a smile.

"Christmas snow?" Yang Gang looked at the sky; although it was cloudy, there was no forecast for snow tonight.

Gu Ge nodded: "The fortune teller at the corner street said it would."

The corners of Yang Gang’s mouth twitched as he remembered Li Qing.

Considering how Li Qing had once transformed into a quack fortune teller, confidently feeding him a story about marrying the woman who had taken his virginity. But now, his outlook of a confirmed bachelor seemed more likely than ever.

Just when he wanted to curse about the fortune teller having no professional ethics when a snowflake fell into his palm and turned into a droplet of water.

Looking up, he saw that the sky was full of snowflakes.

It was believed to be a divine sign whenever it snowed on Christmas or rained on Qingming (Tomb-Sweeping Day).

This was the third snowfall since winter started in Hangcheng, decorating the city, and adding a fairy-tale touch to the Christmas night.

Yang Gang clicked his tongue: "The fortune teller is trying to overtake the weather forecast!"

Watching the snowflakes swirling all around, he swept his hands up, cupping them into a heart-shaped container for the falling snowflakes.

"That’s a unique gesture," Gu Ge blinked her eyes and laughed.

"Hmm, a girl taught it to me a while back. She promised to accompany me every Christmas Eve, but this year, she broke her promise." Yang Gang said, his voice monotonous.

Following Yang Gang’s gesture, Gu Ge brought her hands together in a heart shape, and smiled faintly, "The girl you’re talking about is Xiaorou, isn’t it?"

Yang Gang nodded.

Gu Ge gazed at the snow-filled sky, hesitating a moment before softly saying, "I’m not familiar with the specifics of what happened between you two. But from my brief interactions with Xiaorou, she typically does not break her promises unless it’s absolutely necessary. She once told me about something you asked her, you asked her if she’d stay by your side if everyone else abandoned you, and she said, yes. But now that she’s disappeared, I believe she must have had her reasons."

She paused, then continued, "Even at this moment, I believe she’s fulfilling her promise to you, in her own way."
