Chapter 515: Chapter 518 Lose Control_1

"Auntie is here." At that moment, Yang Ya walked out of the villa and greeted her.

Yang Lin glanced at Yang Ya and said, "Little Ya, are you heading out?"

"Mmm, I’m meeting a friend for afternoon tea." Yang Ya replied, with a bag on her shoulder.

It was still afternoon in Hangcheng.

"Afternoon tea?" Bai Ninglu paused before speaking, "Yang Gang, he’s still missing.."

"Oh."

Bai Ninglu suddenly raised her head and stared at Yang Ya, her expression one of disbelief. " ’Oh?’ That’s all you’ve got? Yang Gang is your own younger brother, isn’t he? He might be dead or alive and you still have the mood to hang out with your friends for afternoon tea?! Yang Ya, when did you become so heartless and indifferent?"

Both Yang Lin and Yang Ya were taken aback.

"I’m sorry, I lost my composure. I should go first." Saying this, Bai Ninglu wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes and turned to leave.

"Dad, what’s wrong with Auntie?" Yang Ya asked, confused.

Yang Lin glared at Yang Ya. "Little Ya, don’t you worry about Yang Gang at all?"

"That’s because... because..."

Yang Lin sighed and turned to go back into the villa.

Yang Ya stood silently before heading out. Bai Ninglu was nowhere to be seen.

With mixed emotions, she asked herself, "Why does that woman suddenly remind me of my mother?"

She was lost in her thoughts along the way.

When she arrived at the agreed cafe, a tall beauty with a neat, short haircut walked over and hugged her tightly.

"Little Ya, your chest is still so pert. I’m so envious." The short-haired beauty joked.

Yang Ya rolled her eyes. "Chu Meng, I’m only 23! Are you so eager to see my chest sag?"

Chu Meng chuckled. "Let’s go inside and talk."

The two of them then went to a private room.

"Little Ya, it’s been a few years since we last met, hasn’t it?" Chu Meng took a sip of her coffee and chuckled.

Yang Ya also took a small sip of her coffee and laughed. "Almost five years, I guess."

"Back in high school, we were known as the twin stars of stunning beauty." Chu Meng remembered fondly.

Yang Ya laughed. "I prefer the title ’Stunning Twin Princesses.’ It sounds more powerful, not like some decorative vase."

"That’s totally your style." Chu Meng let out a sigh. "Ah, all those foolish boys were fooled by you. They all thought you were an angel when in fact, you were a devil."

"That’s slander."

"Oh, by the way, I heard about the plane crash involving your siblings. Judging by your demeanor, they’re both alright, aren’t they?" Chu Meng put down her coffee and suddenly asked.

"Right." Yang Ya nodded. She instinctively thought back to the incident at the villa’s gates and wondered to herself. "Why did that woman get so worked up when she heard Gang was missing?"

"Hey, Little Ya, what are you thinking about? I’ve been calling you several times." Chu Meng waved her hand in front of Yang Ya, finally bringing her out of her reverie.

Yang Ya picked up her coffee cup again, took a small sip, and smiled. "Just thinking about some things."

Chu Meng pouted. "Cut it out, don’t play dumb in front of me. Oh, I heard you’re working as a nurse now?"

"Bingo! Correct answer. I’m now a bona fide angel in white," Yang Ya laughed.

Chu Meng looked regretful, "I thought you’d be like your mother and become a scientist. You certainly have the talent for it."

Yang Ya rolled her eyes, "Hey, Chu Meng, cut the chatter and get to the point. I have to get to work soon."

Chu Meng laughed sheepishly before hesitating slightly, then asked somewhat shyly, "I heard that Wenhao went back to Hangcheng. Is that true?"

"Hmm... I see." Yang Ya took a sip of her coffee and smirked, "I can’t believe you still haven’t been able to forget that guy all these years. Let me tell you, I seriously question your tastes. What do you see in a pervy glasses-wearing freak like Chen Wenhao?"

Chu Meng blushed slightly, "Hey, I just want to know where Chen Wenhao is staying."

Yang Ya shrugged, sipping her coffee with a smile, "You’re too late. Chen Wenhao did indeed return to Hangcheng, but he has already left for Yanjing with his parents a few days ago. Oh, by the way, Chen Wenhao’s younger brother is currently staying with us. Would you like to meet him? He’s far more accomplished than his older brother. If you wait another ten years, oh, twelve years, you could marry him."

Chu Meng looked disgruntled, "Yang Ya, you’re mocking me, aren’t you?"

She sighed, took a sip of her coffee and cast her gaze to one side, saying faintly, "I’m just trying to make one last effort. After this, there may not be another opportunity."

Yang Ya didn’t respond, just continued quietly sipping her coffee.

The room fell silent.

After a moment, Chu Meng looked back at Yang Ya with a slight smile, "Little Ya, I’ve decided to join SA. We’ve had disagreements about genetic modification in the past, and I still believe it’s a violation of natural law. Large numbers of innocent people become subjects for genetic modification experiments, and most of them die horribly on the experiment table. Those who survive disrupt the principles of social fairness and indiscriminately kill the innocent. Genetic modifiers should be expelled from human society."

She paused before continuing, "Of course, we can negotiate peaceably with members of the Moderate Faction of genetic modifiers at this stage, in the hope of coexistence. But we, SA, cannot coexist with radical organizations like Stabbing Gold and Dawn of Light. It’s either they die or we perish. There’s no other choice."

"I see." Yang Ya took another sip of coffee, her expression neutral.

"As it happens, I came to Hangcheng this time on a mission. A very dangerous mission, with a high probability of death. That’s why I wanted to know Chen Wenhao’s intentions before setting out." Chu Meng paused and smiled bitterly. "But it seems that Wenhao has already left Hangcheng. The Goddess of Destiny didn’t show favor to me after all. It looks like this mission is fraught with perils."

Yang Ya kept sipping her coffee and said nothing.

In the end, the reunion of two old high school friends ended in a somber atmosphere.

Yang Ya walked out of the coffee house, staring at the setting sun and murmured, "A bloody sunset..."

Her thoughts were in turmoil, and when she came to her senses, she found herself at the gate of Yang’s villa.

Yang Ya remembered the emotionally agitated woman, "Why do I feel oddly familiar with her scent?"

She walked into the yard and saw Yang Lin sitting dejectedly on a stone bench with his husky lying immobile at his feet.

Yang Ya went over and asked, "Dad, can you arrange another date with that lady?"

Yang Lin sighed, "She has already left Hangcheng and may not come back."

At his words, a strange sense of loss washed over Yang Ya.

She lowered her head and softly said, "Dad, I’m sorry."

Yang Lin collected his emotions and gave a faint smile, "It’s not your fault. Maybe I’m just unlucky. Or maybe it’s your mother’s curse."

After speaking, Yang Lin walked towards the garage and said, "I’ll discuss some company decisions with Li Kun tonight, so I won’t be home for dinner."

"Okay, understood." Yang Ya nodded.

After bidding farewell to Yang Lin, Yang Ya returned to her room alone. She lay on the bed, silently gazing at a photo placed on her bedside.

The photo was slightly yellowed, indicating its age.

In the photo, a young girl of about three happily nestled by a beautiful lady’s side.

Yang Ya reached out and picked up the photo, letting her gaze linger on the young woman and murmured, "Mom..."

Just then, her cell phone suddenly rang. She checked the caller ID, her expression surprised.
