Chapter 147: Chapter 150 Tracking_1

In that brief moment of distraction, the sound of a crash echoed as the Lamborghini collided directly into the sedan waiting at the red light up ahead.

I am entirely at fault for rear-ending the car.

But that’s not the main issue! The worst part is, the car I rear-ended was a police car!

Yang Gang felt a chill run down his spine.

Damn it, what’s the situation? My arms trade venture hasn’t even started yet, and I’ve already had a run-in with the police. This isn’t a good sign at all!

At that moment, the door of the police car ahead opened, and out walked a female officer in her uniform.

Yang Gang took one glance and realized, astonishingly, it was Gu Ran.

This is just incredibly unlucky. Just earlier tonight, I had humiliated her brother. This woman is bound to want revenge on me.

Gu Ran walked up to Yang Gang’s car window and knocked on it.

With a resigned sigh, Yang Gang rolled down his car window. Upon seeing that it was Yang Gang, Gu Ran was visibly taken aback.

After a slight pause, Gu Ran collected herself: "Yang Gang, why are you loitering around at such a late hour?"

"Dropping off a guest," Yang Gang replied coolly. It was a reasonable explanation and, in fact, the truth.

Gu Ran didn’t seem skeptical.

Hurriedly, Yang Gang added, "Officer Gu, here’s one thousand Yuan. Your car only has minor bumper damage and it’s just a Honda, this should cover the costs. Let’s not involve the traffic police over a minor accident. I’m in a tight hurry."

"In a rush? To do what?" Gu Ran asked casually.

Yang Gang replied calmly, "I’ve got to get home. According to the Yang family’s rules, we shouldn’t be out too late on our birthdays, or else bad things might happen."

"Fine, you may go. Don’t worry about the repair costs. I’ll take care of it myself," said Gu Ran.

Hesitant, Yang Gang looked at Gu Ran, then asked, "Officer Gu, about your brother..."

"Oh, he’s already gone back to Yanjing," Gu Ran paused, then laughed and said to Yang Gang, "Don’t worry, he won’t cause trouble for the Yang family."

Looking at her in surprise, Yang Gang asked, "You... You don’t hate me?"

"Hate you? Why?" Gu Ran asked, seemingly taken aback.

"I have publicly humiliated your brother..."

"Oh, that." Gu Ran paused momentarily, then laughed and said, "My brother has always been the disrespectful type, especially towards women, even with me. To be honest, I’ve been suppressing lots of anger too. So, seeing him being put in his place was quite satisfying."

Yang Gang grimaced, thinking to himself, "Sisters aren’t reliable after all, they would eventually become someone else’s family. Speaking of which, a wife is more reliable. But..."

Young Master Yang fell into a gloomy train of thought: "Where is my wife?"

He suddenly remembered the divination that was foretold by the scruffy Taoist priest.

"Your future wife will be the woman who will take your virginity. In other words, the first woman you have an intimate relationship with will be your future wife."

A corner of Yang Gang’s mouth twitched: "That... This surely must be a scam! Which of those four suspects would I dare to marry?"

Gathering himself, he said: "Officer Gu, I will be on my way."

Upon returning to Yang’s villa, Yang Fei and Yang Ya had all gone to bed.

Yang Gang returned to his room, he took his password-protected box out. Then he looked at the four gifts on the table and hesitated a bit before he stuffed the good luck knot from Yang Fei into his pocket as well.

"Hmm... Keeping these two safety knots on me, hopefully, they can ensure a safe arms smuggling operation this time!"

After packing his luggage and under the cover of Yang Lin, Yang Gang quietly left the Yang’s villa.

He hailed a taxi at the foot of the mountain, heading straight for Hangcheng Port.

Gu Ran, driving her patrol car, checked the time. It was almost the end of her shift.

Just then, she noticed something.

"Yang Gang? Why is he in a taxi? Didn’t he say that there’s a rule in the Yang family to not stay out too late on birthdays, otherwise bad things would happen?"

Gu Ran was filled with doubts, watching the direction the taxi was heading in.

"The port! What is Yang Gang doing going to the port at this time?" Gu Ran suddenly grew very alarmed.

Incidents have been happening in Hangcheng lately. First, there was the explosion on the yacht owned by the rich young man from Yanjing. Then, the police received an anonymous tip that international drug traffickers were carrying out drug deals in Hangcheng.

"It’s unlikely that Yang Gang was involved in the yacht explosion incident since there’s no benefit for him or the Yang family. But as for drug dealing... it appears that the Yang family’s business has recently plunged into a financial crisis..."

Realization dawned upon Gu Ran: "Could the Yang family be attempting to alleviate their financial stress by dealing drugs to generate revenue?? It’s highly possible! Otherwise, there’s no explanation for why their young master is sneaking off to the port so late at night!"

Gu Ran immediately began tailing in her car, careful not to get too close to Yang Gang’s taxi, knowing fully well his high perception.

Unaware of Gu Ran tailing him, Yang Gang was considering the safe transportation of the military-grade stealth material from Yiserlie to Huaxia.

It looked like a simple arms transportation task, but in reality, it was fraught with danger.

Getting from Yiserlie to Huaxia by land was not feasible. There were too many countries to pass through, the odds of the arms getting exposed were too high.

Transporting by air wasn’t an option either. There was no way such sensitive military material would pass Yiserlie’s stringent security checks.

The only option left was transporting by sea. But there are at least three American naval bases along the way, making the route highly challenging.

The American navy, however, is not the biggest threat. The most substantial threat comes from pirates.

There are three notorious pirate-infested areas between Yiserlie and Huaxia: the southern South Sea, the central Indian Ocean, and the southern Arabian Sea.

Over the past decade, at least 500 cases of arms possession have taken place in these three regions.

Most of these cases involved smuggled weaponry, but there were also instances where arms traded directly between nations were stolen. These large-scale trades usually made use of armed warships for transportation.

Even so, the pirates still marked them as targets, showing just how formidable these pirates were.

Some of these armament-purloining pirates are full-time pirates, living purely on the spoils of their raids. Then you have the ’fake’ pirates – these are usually arms smugglers themselves. They hijack and steal weapons under the guise of pirates, then resell them to clients.

This kind of treachery among arms smugglers is quite common.

The Japanese manga, "Queen of Arms," portrays the bloody internal warfare among arms traffickers.

Yang Gang was well aware of how weak his team was.

Although Qingjiao and his team had worked as mercenaries in Central Asia, they had been off the battlefield for several years. If they were to face gunfire again, it was uncertain whether they could regain their skills as veterans.

Zhao Shanshan was an even more uncertain element.

According to Yang Feng, Zhao Shanshan had a unique gift for firearms. She quickly learned how to disassemble and reassemble guns in just half an hour. In one day, her shooting accuracy had surpassed that of Qingjiao and his team, earning her the title of ’prodigy sharpshooter.’

However, Zhao Shanshan had never personally experienced the nerve-racking battlefield. If a life-or-death crisis arose, it was uncertain whether she could overcome her fear and demonstrate her talent in shooting.

In this team, the only ones truly capable fighters were two people: Yang Feng and Yang Gang.

Thankfully, at least no one in the team was a liability. As the common saying goes, it’s better to face a formidable adversary than rely on a worthless teammate.

With a sense of regret, Young Master Yang had to console himself with that thought.
