Yang Ya stood unperturbed, her gaze icy. She was no pushover, Yang Ya was a three-time champion in amateur Taekwondo during her university years at Hangcheng. She could easily beat up these petty thugs within minutes.

Just then, however, a man appeared from another corner of the alley. With the poise of an eagle and an expression quite as icy, it was Gu Jiang, the richest young master of the Gu family in Yanjing.

He shot Yang Ya a glance, then looked over the young men: "Committing burglary broad daylight, you guys have quite the guts. You must be keen on going to jail."

His tone was indifferent, as if he didn’t regard them at all.

The local hoodlums became a bit annoyed.

"Hey, angel face, you think you’re some kind of hero who can save the damsel in distress? I suggest you scram before you piss us off, and we carve you up first!"

One of the thugs pulled out a knife and brandished it, trying to intimidate Gu Jiang.

Chuckle!

Gu Jiang scoffed contemptuously, "Just with you scallywags?"

The thug with the knife grew angry at his words, and, cursing under his breath, he approached Gu Jiang, knife in hand.

A glimmer of coldness flashed in Gu Jiang’s eyes. He swiftly kicked the knife-wielding thug, his kick as fast as lightning. Before the thug even processed what was happening, he received a heavy blow to his chest and with a muffled grunt, he was sent flying.

The remaining thugs were taken aback and threw themselves at Gu Jiang in unison.

Gu Jiang smirked contemptuously, his movements swift as lightening.

When Gu Jiang finally came to a halt, the thugs trying to rob Yang were all down on the ground, no longer putting up a fight.

"You alright?" Gu Jiang dusted his hands nonchalantly, looking at Yang Ya.

Yang Ya gave a slight smile: "Thank you, I’m fine."

"Good to know." Once Gu Jiang said that, he walked away.

Yang Ya didn’t think much about it and continued her way to the hospital.

On the other hand.

After dropping off Yang Ya, Yang Gang was on his way back to school when he saw an advertisement on a bus stop. He braked suddenly, almost causing a rear-end collision.

Ignoring the honking from the vehicle behind him, he stared at the poster.

"Damn, the ’Gallows’ are having a concert in Hangcheng? Gu Xiaorou might just die of excitement if she knew. But wait... now that Sister Miao is in Hangcheng as well, Gu Xiaorou, being the ’Gallows’ number one fan, should also be keeping a low profile, right?"

The honking from behind grew more urgent, only then did Yang Gang slowly start the car.

Back at the university, as soon as he parked, the committee members for the ’National Campus Beauty’ voting surrounded Yang Gang.

"Young Master Yang, the voting for ’National Campus Beauty’ ends today, and all the male students have cast their votes except you. Yang Fei and Gu Xiaorou are still neck and neck for the top spot. Who are you going to vote for?" asked the nerdy-looking young man.

Yang Gang’s lip twitched. If only he had known this would happen, he would have cast his vote earlier. Then anytime he met Yang Fei, he could say he voted for her. And anytime he met Gu Xiaorou, he could claim his vote went to her. But things didn’t go as planned...

He hesitated for a moment, then pulled his ballot out from his pocket and handed it to the young man in glasses.

The guy in glasses took the vote but did not open it on the spot. Instead, he led the crowd away from there.

Yang Gang went back to his classroom.

Gu Xiaorou was already seated and she appeared a bit out of sorts.

Seeing her state, Yang Gang was taken aback.

"Could it be that the woman who stained the sheets is Gu Xiaorou? That would be so weird. Didn’t she already sleep with Zhang Yu?"

Yang Gang sat behind Gu Xiaorou, hesitated for a moment, then nervously asked, "Xiaorou, what’s wrong? You look so out of it."

Gu Xiaorou glanced at Yang Gang and scoffed, "Gang, why is my bed sheet missing?"

Yang Gang was taken aback, but being the natural ’actor’, his reaction was quick as he plastered on a guilty expression, "I took it."

Gu Xiaorou looked embarrassed, she whispered, "Gang, are you some kind of pervert? Why did you steal my bed sheet?"

"I didn’t steal it, I took it. Can educated people be accused of stealing?" Yang Gang said, unruffled.

"I’ve heard this joke before, but where did it come from?" Gu Xiaorou thought for a while, but couldn’t recall.

"This quote is from Mr. Lu Xun’s ’True Story of Ah Q,’ It’s normal for American people to not have heard it." Yang Gang said.

Gu Xiaorou, indignant, retorted word by word, "My nationality, Huaxia!"

She paused, then continued, "Stop changing the topic, tell me, why did you take my bed sheet? Was something embarrassing on it?"

Hiss~

Yang Gang flinched. Could it be that Gu Xiaorou had noticed something?

After a moment’s pondering, Yang Gang calmly replied, "Ah, last night I climbed onto your bed, drunk as a skunk, and had a dream. Then... you know what happens."

Gu Xiaorou exclaimed in disgust, "That’s gross!"

She paused, then asked, "Did you dream about Sister Miao again?"

Gu Xiaorou glared at Yang Gang, but didn’t inquire further.

Yang Gang let out a sigh of relief. He had been observing Gu Xiaorou’s expression and found no signs of suspicion.

"Right, Gu Xiaorou is, after all, the one least likely to be suspicious." Yang Gang thought to himself.

Just then, the classroom’s loudspeaker went off. A slightly vulgar voice cleared his throat and then announced, "Good morning, students of Star Sea University. Before class starts, we would like to share some campus news. The tenth ’National Campus Beauty’ voting has completed, and the results are out."

He paused at that.

The students of Star Sea University were all ears. They were curious about one thing only, that is: Did Yang Fei manage to secure her title as the top campus beauty for the third year in a row? Or did Gu Xiaorou, the beautiful half-blood lady, rise to the top and steal Yang Fei’s reign?

The two involved, Yang Fei and Gu Xiaorou, kept a calm expression, but they cared deeply within.

Both women knew very well that whoever came out on top meant that Yang Gang had voted for her.

However, as bystanders, they were not entirely sure whether the women were more anxious about the school’s beauty ranking or who Yang Gang voted for.

After a riveting pause, the voice on the speaker continued, "The winner of the tenth Star Sea University ’National Campus Beauty’ is..."
