Chapter 309: Chapter 223 Don’t Play with Guns Carelessly
--------
Gong Jiu and Flower Demon were typical hedonists; they would never set foot in economy class if there were first-class seats available!
In their words, "If first-class exists, there’s a reason for it. I have the money, why shouldn’t I fly first-class?"
Low profile? Thrifty? Are you sure you’re not just posing?
The unpretentious pair, dragging along the even more unpretentious Miss Sui Yi who was fine with anything, entered the first-class cabin. As soon as they did, Sui Yi felt quite a few discreet or outright stares landing on the three of them.
Once seated, everyone did what they pleased. Miss Hua quickly dabbed several kinds of lotions on her face, then patted her cheeks swiftly, put on an eye mask, and violà, with panda eyes, she keeled over!
Thump! "Passed out."
Euphemistically called catching up on sleep.
"Snake sickness, who wouldn’t have a rosy complexion after slapping their face dozens of times..." Gong Jiu sarcastically commented to Sui Yi.
"There is," Sui Yi replied nonchalantly, looking out the airplane window.
"What?"
"Black people."
"...."
Gong Jiu couldn’t help but laugh uncontrollably, clasping the armrest. Mid-laughter, she was interrupted.
"Hello, two beautiful ladies..."
In first class, which is also business class, across from the four seats, next to the "passed out" Miss Hua, there was a young man, neatly dressed with refined manners. Half of his sharp suit suggested he was a business elite, yet the casually rolled sleeves and the spring-like smile added a touch of gentleness to him.
A good-looking face is the best business card, especially when it comes to the opposite sex.
The man greeted Sui Yi with a smile, and Gong Jiu, pleased that he decided to skip over the panda next to her, arched an eyebrow, not too graciously but with a modicum of politeness, lifting her chin slightly, "Hello."
Sui Yi also glanced at him as a way of greeting.
But this apparently took the elite man by surprise. He shifted his gaze, then started making conversation with Gong Jiu and Sui Yi. To be honest, the guy was quite skilled; his tone was moderate, his timing perfect, effortlessly weaving in literary and philosophical references, all without a hint of flirtation or sleaze, behaving quite like a gentleman.
Even though his intent had been clear ever since he took the initiative to greet them.
--Wanna hang out, beauties?
Although it was chit-chat, the man soon realized something was off because Gong Jiu would only reply after he spoke five sentences. Actually, that wouldn’t be too bad, at least she was responding, but..
"Hmm."
"Oh?"
"Uhm."
"What did you just say?"
Are these responses even considered conversation?
The man sighed internally, facing Gong Jiu’s lazy, teasing smile, and he found it embarrassing to stop talking, as she was a great beauty after all, a lively woman with short, flamboyant hair. It seemed too ungentlemanly to remain silent.
So he kept looking for topics..
While the girl next to him, with a colder demeanor, kept reading her book, occasionally glancing at the screen in front, watching a foreign movie playing...
Without saying a word.
As for the other one... if she started talking, that would actually be scary.
Time passed by the minute...
Eventually, Gong Jiu leaned to one side, successfully dozing off, but as she slumped, she bumped into Sui Yi. Thud, the book in Sui Yi’s hands fell to the floor. Sui Yi didn’t immediately reach for the book, instead, she gently straightened Gong Jiu, adjusted her seat so she could lie down comfortably, and covered her with a blanket.
After she was done, Sui Yi turned to pick up the book on the floor, only to find the book was already within reach.
"Thank you," Sui Yi said, nodding her thanks to the man across the aisle.
The man didn’t speak. After Sui Yi took the book, he turned away and looked at his laptop.
Catching only a fleeting glimpse of the man’s hand, Sui Yi already turned back, only to notice the elite man across from her looking somewhat peculiar.
His gaze was complex and obscure.
He even asked, out of the blue, "Miss, what do you think of this movie after watching it?"
The movie was "The Shawshank Redemption," a bit old but one of the classics.
Being a classic, any review would seem redundant.
He seemed to be deliberately complicating things.
And Sui Yi, watching the movie for the first time, recalled its general plot...
The protagonist was a business elite who, begrudging his wife’s affair, intended to commit murder with a gun. Though the murder did happen, it wasn’t by his hand, yet he was imprisoned. The last straw was enduring many years, his future in ruins...
