Chapter 71: Chapter 69: Senior Sister, Please Have Some Self-Respect

Yun Xinyue had just finished her closed-door cultivation. There was too much she didn’t understand. All she felt was that the Wen Zhixing before her seemed to have changed drastically. He even dared to proactively ask her for a Spiritual Instrument!

Yun Xinyue, however, didn’t answer. Wen Zhixing kept staring at her.

Yun Xinyue naturally pretended not to see; she wasn’t foolish.

"Senior Sister, you don’t even have a spare Spiritual Instrument, do you?" Wen Zhixing asked with some disappointment, then turned and mumbled, "Then I’d better go find Senior Sister Ning Shan. Senior Sister Ning is very kind."

"Wait a minute." Yun Xinyue furrowed her brows. "Junior Brother Wen, what are you saying? Did Ning Shan give you a Spiritual Instrument?"

She and Ning Shan didn’t get along well, and hearing this instantly displeased her.

Before her closed-door cultivation, she had warned Ning Shan not to mess with Wen Zhixing. Now, it seemed the two of them must have interacted.

"She did," Wen Zhixing replied, turning his head and casually spinning a tale. "The Phoenix Palace Master said she wanted to take me as her disciple." He then took out the sword talisman he kept close to his chest. "The Phoenix Palace Master also gave me this for protection."

"A Protection Sword Talisman!" Yun Xinyue’s lips parted slightly in surprise.

What was going on with the people from Wutong Peak? How could they be handing out both Spiritual Instruments and Protection Sword Talismans? What were they playing at? Could it really be that they want to snatch people from us?

Yun Xinyue’s mind was in turmoil.

After Wen Zhixing finished speaking, he made to leave again.

"Junior Brother Wen, don’t be hasty," Yun Xinyue quickly said. "I didn’t say I wouldn’t give you one; I was just thinking about what would be suitable."

Wen Zhixing immediately stopped, turned around, and smiled. "I knew Senior Sister Yun was generous."

With that, he stretched out his hand to Yun Xinyue again. "Senior Sister, come on, give it to me."

"Junior Brother Wen, I left in a bit of a hurry. How about you come with me to get it?" A cunning light flickered in Yun Xinyue’s eyes as she narrowed her moist gaze.

Wen Zhixing immediately frowned and took half a step back. "Senior Sister, you’re not... lusting after my body again, are you?"

Yun Xinyue didn’t get annoyed but instead leaned in closer. "Oh? After all this time, haven’t you missed your senior sister at all?"

A pair of alluring eyes held a hint of flirtation, stirring Wen Zhixing’s heart. A faint, sweet fragrance, almost milky, wafted to his nose.

*\[You are full of Yang Qi and can release it!\]*

"Senior Sister, please conduct yourself with dignity." Wen Zhixing maintained his composure, his eyes clear and unwavering.

He was not a man to be easily swayed!

"Junior Brother Wen, you still can’t take a joke. Come with me." Yun Xinyue smiled tenderly and hooked her arm through Wen Zhixing’s, though her eyes narrowed slightly.

After some time apart, this Wen Zhixing had become a bit bolder. Where was this confidence coming from? She decided she had to find Qiu Yinger first and ask what had happened.

Wen Zhixing did not resist and walked shoulder to shoulder with her towards the Cultivation Hall.

「Meanwhile.」

Outside the Cultivation Hall of Soul Devouring Peak, many disciples stared in horror at Qiu Yinger, who was barely breathing, inside the hall.

Qiu Yinger, found lying in a pool of blood, had finally been discovered early this morning. After a night of recovery, she was barely clinging to life. After swallowing some elixirs, her breathing had just managed to stabilize, but her condition was still extremely grave.

Just then, Wen Zhixing’s curse struck for a second time, torturing Qiu Yinger until she fell unconscious again.

A few wanted to step forward and help, but they were nearly ensnared by the Power of the Curse. This made everyone else afraid to approach, fearing they too would be afflicted.

This wasn’t the first time Qiu Yinger had been cursed, but they had never seen it this severe.

"What should we do? Should we go help?" one disciple asked, worried for Qiu Yinger and unsure what to do.

But at these words, everyone merely exchanged glances and then silently looked away. Help? How could they help? They were truly powerless.

"What are you all looking at?" Just then, a somewhat authoritative voice came from behind.

The crowd hurriedly turned their heads to see Yun Xinyue, who hadn’t been seen for a long time. Wen Zhixing followed silently behind her. As the instigator, he naturally knew what was going on.

"Heh." Wen Zhixing chuckled softly. A flicker of pleasure went through him; he could certainly hold a grudge.

"Senior... Senior Sister Yun..." The disciples outside the hall hastily paid their respects.

"What happened?" Yun Xinyue frowned. Turning her head, she saw Qiu Yinger on the floor inside the hall, coughing up blood.

"Yinger!" Yun Xinyue cried out in shock. Her figure flashed, and she appeared right beside Qiu Yinger.

"Senior... Senior Sister..." Qiu Yinger struggled to lift her eyes. Seeing Yun Xinyue, a bitter expression crossed her face. Her face was incredibly pale, and her eyes had lost all their light.

"What happened?" Yun Xinyue’s eyes widened in disbelief. A jade bottle appeared in her hand, and she quickly put an elixir into Qiu Yinger’s mouth.

What was going on? Normally, Qiu Yinger was incredibly assertive, deferring only to their Master. She would even occasionally provoke her, her senior sister. But now, she was so frail.

"Yinger, who hurt you?" Yun Xinyue asked, drawing Qiu Yinger into her embrace, her eyes blazing with fury. Who would be so audacious as to harm someone from their lineage?

"Senior Sister... I... I think... I might be dying..." Qiu Yinger looked at Yun Xinyue, her eyes dim. She truly felt she was on the verge of death.

If this curse lasted any longer, she wouldn’t be able to hold on. She didn’t expect Yun Xinyue to be able to solve it either; after all, even their Master couldn’t handle it.

Yun Xinyue’s expression turned grim at her words. "Dying? What exactly is happening?!" she demanded, her face etched with urgency. How could so much have happened while I was in closed-door cultivation?

"Senior... Senior Sister, I’ve been cursed..." Qiu Yinger closed her eyes slightly, her lips curling into a faintly desperate smile.

"Cursed..." Yun Xinyue repeated, taken aback. She immediately recalled the curse she herself had experienced. Back then, the curse had been fleeting, and since she was busy consolidating her cultivation, she hadn’t paid it much mind.

Could Qiu Yinger have been struck by the same curse as I was?

"Yinger, first tell me exactly what happened. Don’t rush, speak slowly," Yun Xinyue said, taking a deep breath before asking again.

"Okay..." With Yun Xinyue’s arrival, Qiu Yinger seemed to find a pillar of support. Combined with the elixir she had ingested, her condition actually began to show some slight improvement.

"It happened a few days ago, on that day I..."

As Qiu Yinger recounted the events, Yun Xinyue gradually learned the full story, her brow furrowing deeper the more she heard. The curse sounded identical to the one she had encountered. The only difference was that the curse on her had merely flitted past, unlike Qiu Yinger, who was grievously injured each time.

This was no coincidence. Someone was targeting their lineage.

"Yinger, the curse you mentioned, I’ve encountered it too," Yun Xinyue said gravely after hearing Qiu Yinger’s account.

"Senior Sister, you were cursed too? COUGH! COUGH! COUGH!" Qiu Yinger exclaimed, becoming somewhat agitated, her almond-shaped eyes widening further.

"Yinger, don’t worry about that now. Focus on healing," Yun Xinyue comforted her again.

As for anything else, she was powerless for the moment. After all, even their Master, Si Nanyan, had no solution. What could she possibly do?

"Senior Sister Qiu, are you injured?" At that moment, Wen Zhixing stepped forward, his voice full of concern. "Does it hurt? Don’t worry, just bear it a little longer, and you’ll feel better soon."
