Chapter 49: Chapter 47: You Are Brave Behind the Scenes
"Ning..."
She Zhihong’s body swayed several times, his face instantly turning deathly pale.
The bloody hole in his chest was so real, yet it felt like a dream.
Why? Why would Ning Shan attack me?
Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong, standing beside him, were utterly stunned, not having had time to react.
Then came two more PUFF sounds.
Both of their chests were penetrated by a finger as well.
Blood blossomed, the intense pain seizing their breath, their bodies as if struck by lightning.
"Ning..."
The three of them found it unbelievable, their voices trembling.
"She Zhihong, you certainly have some nerve."
Ning Shan approached slowly, her beautiful face as cold as frost, her white dress fluttering in the wind like a blooming mandala flower.
Killing intent filled her beautiful eyes!
Behind her stood Wen Miner, an obedient look on her face. Wen Miner blinked her large eyes, her expression full of innocence. After Ning Shan had searched for She Zhihong and the other two for a long time, it was Wen Miner who had informed her of their whereabouts.
"Senior Sister, why?"
She Zhihong clenched his fists, clutching his chest in agony.
Ning Shan had attacked his right chest; she hadn’t aimed to kill directly.
Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong were also bewildered.
The three of them had no idea what they had done wrong.
They had said some things they shouldn’t have, but that shouldn’t have been enough for Ning Shan to come after them so quickly.
"What, forgotten what you’ve done?"
Ning Shan sneered, raising her slender white hands, her fingertips gliding towards his neck.
"Senior Sister... I really don’t know what you’re talking about."
She Zhihong couldn’t help but swallow, his face contorting as sweat beaded on his brow, half from pain and half from fear.
HISS.
A cold glint flashed.
A fine cut appeared on his neck, trickles of blood seeping out.
"Now, do you remember?"
Ning Shan’s eyes were mesmerizing, her slender fingers sliding, radiating a chill light.
Drops of fresh blood fell from her fingertips, as if she were ready to deliver a deadly blow at any moment.
"Senior Sister, I... I’m innocent! I... I did nothing!"
She Zhihong gritted his teeth. He had indeed done some things he shouldn’t have behind her back, but naturally, he wasn’t foolish enough to admit them. Right now, he desperately wished he could kill Ning Shan on the spot. But he didn’t dare. If he dared to resist now, he would truly have no way out.
"Ning... We really did nothing. It has nothing to do with us."
Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong also struggled to speak, wanting to distance themselves from She Zhihong.
It seemed She Zhihong must have done something Ning Shan had discovered. Recalling what She Zhihong had just said, a chill ran down both their spines.
"Hmph. You won’t shed a tear until you see the coffin."
Seeing them still being stubborn, a trace of coldness flashed in Ning Shan’s eyes again.
With a thought, Spiritual Qi burst forth from her palm, transforming into a three-foot-long sword wind that pierced She Zhihong’s right shoulder.
"You!"
The sharp pain in his shoulder made She Zhihong’s eyes bulge with rage. He was struggling to bear it. What on earth does this bitch want? That madwoman!
"Does it hurt?"
Ning Shan retracted the sword wind and aimed it at Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong. "Since you know how much it hurts, why did you presumptuously attack Wen Zhixing?"
"Attack Wen Zhixing?"
Hearing this, She Zhihong and the others were dumbfounded.
Then, an overwhelming sense of frustration washed over them.
Damn it! They had never laid a hand on Wen Zhixing!
"Ning, we’ve never attacked Wen Zhixing!" Ning Qingzhong shouted, seeing the sword wind aimed at him.
"I don’t believe you!"
Ning Shan’s expression remained cold as she unleashed another sword wind.
PFFT!
The sword wind exploded on Ning Qingzhong’s shoulder, sending blood and flesh flying.
"Ning, really, it wasn’t us who attacked Wen Zhixing! We have no grudge against him," Song Zidong, standing nearby, hurriedly explained again. It’s almost my turn, how can I not be anxious!
"If it wasn’t you, then who could it be?"
Ning Shan’s brows furrowed slightly, but she struck out once more.
Damn it! Song Zidong cursed inwardly.
But he had no choice but to grit his teeth and endure the sword wind.
With that, the three of them stopped trying to explain. Ning Shan had already decided they were guilty. Their faces turned extremely ugly, having been unjustly blamed. Is this madwoman sick in the head?!
"Ning, please forgive them this once," Wen Miner, who had been quietly watching from the background, finally stepped forward to speak.
She then gave the three men a meaningful look.
She Zhihong instantly understood and began to beg for mercy.
"Senior Sister, we know we were wrong. We truly know we were wrong."
Ning Shan’s gaze flickered. In truth, the punishment she intended to inflict was almost complete; she was just waiting for them to admit their mistake, and she would have let it go. She hadn’t expected Wen Miner to be the first to plead for them.
"Senior Sister, our senior brothers must have been momentarily confused."
Wen Miner gently took Ning Shan’s hand, her voice soft and charming.
"Hmph. Since Miner is pleading for you, then this time... I’ll let it pass."
Ning Shan flicked her sleeve, withdrawing her killing intent.
"Thank you, Ning. Thank you, Miner."
The three men lowered their heads once more, their faces, however, showing a hint of ferocity.
"Remember, there won’t be a next time. Miner, let’s go."
Ning Shan swept her gaze over the three men, issuing another warning.
She wanted to return and see how Wen Zhixing was recovering.
But Wen Miner shook her head, saying, "Senior Sister, you go on ahead. The senior brothers are seriously injured; I’ll take them to the Medicine King Hall for treatment."
Hearing this, Ning Shan glanced at Wen Miner with slight surprise. Seeing Wen Miner’s face full of playful mischief, Ning Shan’s eyes twinkled, and she smiled.
"Miner is always so kind-hearted."
Ning Shan reached out to pat Wen Miner’s head.
Then, without further delay, she gathered Spiritual Qi beneath her feet, transformed into a streak of light, and vanished.
"Get up."
As soon as Ning Shan left, Wen Miner helped the three men to their feet.
"Thank you, Junior Sister."
The men looked up, a flicker of gratitude in their pained eyes.
If it hadn’t been for Wen Miner today, they might have endured even more torment.
"Why didn’t you resist?" Wen Miner asked, her smile fading as her expression turned odd.
A jolt went through She Zhihong and the others once more.
They didn’t understand what Wen Miner meant.
"Junior Sister, we didn’t dare," She Zhihong quickly replied, his demeanor respectful.
"No, She, you dared. You’ve been quite brave behind closed doors."
Wen Miner smiled playfully and stepped in front of him, an object appearing in her hand. She Zhihong stared, stunned.
It was a Message Jade Talisman.
"Have you forgotten? You even contacted me." Wen Miner waved the jade talisman in her hand, her smile charming.
"You... You’re from the Righteous Sun Sect!"
She Zhihong was flabbergasted.
How could Wen Miner be from the Righteous Sun Sect? She was taken in by Feng Ruoli as a disciple at a young age, even cherished like her own daughter.
Hearing the words "Righteous Sun Sect," Ning Qingzhong and Song Zidong were completely dumbstruck. What’s going on? The two of them were utterly bewildered.
"That’s right. So, how about it? Would you like to join?" Wen Miner beamed sweetly at the three men, saying, "She, you previously said you’d consider it. Have you made up your mind now?"
CLANG!
Before the three could speak, a fierce sword light flashed before their eyes. A single silver longsword split into three, and with lightning speed, their points pressed against the center of each man’s brow.
"So, what will it be? Joining us? No pressure at all, of course."
Wen Miner’s smile was sweet, her eyes filled with innocent cheerfulness.
