Chapter 494: Chapter 497: Square Market
"Kid, if you’re not entering the city, step aside quickly! People are still lining up behind you!"
Faced with the guard’s expulsion, unable to produce a Divine Stone to enter the city, Yan Rufeng could only leave dejectedly.
Wandering outside Xuanwu City, Yan Rufeng now realized that traveling in the Divine Realm without Divine Stones was impossible.
"Sigh..."
"Looks like I still need to earn some Divine Stones first..."
Although not very large, the bustling of Xuanwu City did not fall short of any city in the Immortal Domain.
At the city gate, people coming in and going out of Xuanwu City brushed shoulders, flowing like an endless stream, creating a bustling and lively scene.
Staying outside the city, Yan Rufeng learned from the bits and pieces of conversations that five thousand miles southwest of Xuanwu City was the Divine Beast Mountain, not only inhabited by Divine Beasts but also abundant in medicinal herbs for alchemy...
Having always relied on Elixirs for his livelihood, Yan Rufeng knew the immense utility of Elixirs, but so far, he had not yet refined a Divine-class Elixir.
"Hmm!"
"Why not go collect some medicinal herbs from Divine Beast Mountain to refine Elixirs, trade them for Divine Stones, and then enter the city to settle scores with that old scoundrel..."
With a direction and goal in mind, Yan Rufeng didn’t linger, summoned his Flying Sword, and flew straight toward Divine Beast Mountain.
The towering and majestic Divine Beast Mountain stood tall, its rugged peaks stretching endlessly, one of the few mountain ranges on Zhenwu Continent.
However, the Divine Beast Mountain, with no expectations of return, had been nourishing over twenty surrounding cities of varying sizes for countless millennia.
Yet, the products meeting the needs of those cities came only from the outskirts of the Divine Beast Mountain, and as for its depths, no Human Clan member had ever set foot there...
As the towering peaks gradually came into view, Yan Rufeng, who had arrived on his Flying Sword, saw no one around and slowly descended.
Under the lush forest canopy, wildflowers clustered. Standing in the grass, Yan Rufeng spread his Divine Sense, surveying the surroundings.
"Uh!"
Yan Rufeng suddenly slapped his forehead.
"I came in a hurry and forgot that as a newcomer to the Divine Realm, I don’t even know what the medicinal herbs are here, let alone the methods for refining Divine Pills. What should I do?"
Just as Yan Rufeng was pondering over his dilemma, he suddenly heard footsteps in the distance.
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Yan Rufeng leaped up a large tree and concealed himself.
Two figures appeared in the distance, gradually becoming clear, revealing a man and a woman beneath Yan Rufeng.
The man wore a blue robe, with a White Jade ornament at his waist, his thick black hair tied up high. His features were handsome, exuding a heroic demeanor.
The woman’s figure was tall; dressed in white, she had a slender waist that could be held with one hand, her beauty unmatched, exuding an otherworldly aura.
"Senior Brother!"
The woman in white suddenly stopped.
"What’s the matter, Junior Sister?" The man’s voice was magnetic.
The woman in white frowned deeply.
"If we can’t complete the guild tasks this month, I really worry the leader will disband our Ziyi Hall."
"Junior Sister, once we reach the square market in Divine Beast Mountain and purchase some inexpensive medicinal herbs and Divine Beast Inner Cores, refining them into Elixirs will solve all our problems." The man in blue was full of confidence.
"Sigh... let’s hope so!" The woman in white said sorrowfully.
As the figures of the man and woman gradually disappeared, Yan Rufeng descended from the tree after they had completely vanished from his sight.
"Ha!"
Yan Rufeng chuckled.
"Who would have thought there’s a square market deep within Divine Beast Mountain? What a surprise."
"Since that’s the case, why not check out the square market first, to understand how the Divine Realm’s markets differ from those in the Immortal World in terms of selling Divine Herbs and Miracle Medicines..."
Having decided to go to the square market, due to not knowing its exact location and being unwilling to spend time searching, Yan Rufeng followed the path where the man and woman had disappeared.
Before long, Yan Rufeng appeared behind the man and woman, just as he was about to greet them, he heard a shout.
"Who are you?"
"A good person," Yan Rufeng said calmly.
"Hmph!"
The man in blue snorted coldly.
"Sneaky, you don’t seem like a good person at all. Please stay away from us."
"Senior Brother!"
The woman in white gently tugged the man’s sleeve, hinting at restraint.
"Ha!"
Yan Rufeng laughed.
"If I, Yan Rufeng, were a bad person, then there would be no good people in this world."
The woman in white smiled slightly, her beauty unmatched.
"So it’s Young Master Yan, this little girl was being rude."
Though very polite, the woman in white had an extremely serious expression, remaining cautious while pondering what Yan Rufeng’s intentions were.
Having lived for two lifetimes and roamed the Immortal World for ten thousand years, Yan Rufeng naturally saw through what the woman in white was thinking.
"I inadvertently heard you two mentioning going to the square market to buy some medicinal herbs. Coincidentally, I also need to visit the market. May I join you?" Yan Rufeng asked with a smile.
"I think not," the man’s cold voice cut in.
"Senior Brother!"
The woman in white whispered, "It’s getting dark, if we encounter trouble, having one more person means one more strength. For safety’s sake, let’s travel with Young Master Yan."
The man in blue scoffed, "Junior Sister, are you certain he’s a good person?"
"He doesn’t seem like a bad person!" The woman in white replied.
The man in blue flung his sleeve dismissively and heightened his tone, "Junior Sister, if you wish to travel with him, you both go to the market together."
The man in blue turned to leave.
"Senior Brother."
The woman in white’s eyes reddened instantly, about to cry.
"We won’t travel with him, okay..."
The man in blue raised his head, again took a good look at Yan Rufeng.
"Kid, did you hear that? My Junior Sister doesn’t want to travel with you, stay away from us!"
Yan Rufeng shook his head helplessly, watching them leave.
As night fell, the calls of birds and beasts occasionally echoed. Yan Rufeng, keeping his distance from the pair, suddenly noticed that they had stopped.
"Junior Sister, it’s getting dark, let’s rest for now," the man in blue said.
"Senior Brother, let’s get through this dense forest before we rest."
The woman in white said.
"If we wait until after passing through the forest, it’ll be pitch dark. Setting up camp then will be inconvenient," the man in blue said discontentedly.
"Senior Brother, as cultivators, sleeping outdoors is perfectly normal. What’s inconvenient about it?"
The woman in white continued striding deeper into the forest.
The man in blue was downtrodden, reluctantly following the woman in white.
"Sigh..."
Yan Rufeng sighed, "Those Heavenly God Realm siblings can’t even perform Sword Flight. Who knows when they’ll reach the market at this rate."
Reflecting for a moment, Yan Rufeng decided, "If it doesn’t work out, I’ll just head in this direction and look ahead myself."
"Whoosh..."
A flash of rainbow light, and Yan Rufeng had already departed on his Flying Sword.
The pair walking in the forest looked up suddenly.
"Senior Brother, that man flying on the sword seems to be Young Master Yan," the woman in white said enviously.
"Tch!"
The man in blue scoffed, "Junior Sister, you must be mistaken. That so-called Young Master Yan can’t be a True God Realm expert..."
"Senior Brother, how do you know he isn’t a True God Realm expert then?"
The woman in white ignored him and continued walking...
