Chapter 211: 131 Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit acquired_1

An endless expanse of dark forest stretched before their eyes, from which a massive explosion erupted, shaking the earth and mountains. Waves of air rolled through, lifting a multitude of fallen leaves high into the air before shattering them into countless tiny splinters.

Deep within the forest, three gigantic black spiders were besieging Bai Keke. On the ground lay another black spider with a bloody hole in its head.

The black spiders’ razor-sharp claws, like scythes, easily sliced through thick black trees. Opening their gaping maws, they spat out a vast web of fine black silk directly towards Bai Keke.

Bai Keke’s body was enveloped in a thick white light screen, and she held a spiritual light-dimmed white shield before her.

The barrage of black silk struck the white shield, producing a series of dull thuds. More cracks appeared on the shield’s surface.

One of the black spiders rushed over and sprayed a stream of foul-smelling black venom, which landed on the white shield.

Green smoke immediately rose from the white shield, and its spiritual light grew even dimmer.

The two sharp claws of the black spider repeatedly struck the white shield, which crumbled apart as easily as if it were made of paper.

The three black spiders let out a noisy screech as they leaped at Bai Keke.

Bai Keke’s face showed a slight change as she was about to employ other measures.

A sharp and piercing scream sounded in her ears, making her dizzy and unsteady on her feet, which slowed the reactions of the three black spiders.

A series of whooshing sounds filled the air as a volley of golden arrows flew in, successively striking the spiders and leaving their bodies riddled with holes, from which blood flowed ceaselessly.

A shadowy figure swept past, and Shen Long appeared.

"Fairy Bai, are you alright?"

Shen Long asked.

"I’m fine, this time I owe you a great deal, Taoist Friend Shen, otherwise, my prospects would have been grim."

Bai Keke expressed her gratitude.

"Fairy Bai, didn’t Senior Bai give you a third-tier Talisman for protection?"

Shen Long questioned.

"She did, but as soon as I entered the Secret Realm, I encountered a third-tier Monster Beast and used it up,"

Bai Keke explained.

"Fairy Bai, I need your help to pick the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit. If I obtain the fruit, I can share one with you. What do you say?"

Shen Long’s tone was sincere.

"Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit."

Bai Keke was somewhat tempted. She pondered for a moment and asked, "I have a question, Taoist Friend Shen, can you resolve my doubt?"

"Please speak, Fairy Bai,"

Shen Long said.

"What about your fellow Spirt Control Sect disciples? Have you really not encountered any since you entered the Secret Realm? Haven’t you come across any Cultivators from Qin Country either? Why do you insist on joining forces with me?"

Bai Keke inquired.

"I really haven’t come across any fellow disciples, and I don’t know where they’ve gone. As for other Cultivators, I have met some, but I chose not to connect with them. The reason is simple; they are neither descendants nor disciples of Core Formation Cultivators. I presume Fairy Bai still has something to protect her life with, so it’s easier to succeed working with you. Of course, you’d be easier to manage. Are you satisfied with this answer, Fairy Bai?"

Shen Long said.

He indeed had come across other Foundation Establishment Cultivators, who either moved in groups or were too weak. After searching for days, Shen Long had finally found Bai Keke.

"Easier to manage, Taoist Friend Shen is quite forthright, aren’t you?"

Bai Keke smiled calmly.

"What do you think, Fairy Bai?"

Shen Long asked.

"You saved my life, so I will help you with this favor. But with your strength, you can’t get the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit. Is it because there’s a third-tier Monster Beast?"

Bai Keke questioned.

Shen Long nodded and briefly explained the situation with the two Snow Pupil Toads.

"Taoist Friend Shen, do you want me to lure out the third-tier Monster Beast?"

Bai Keke asked with a frown.

"I have a set of the Minor Five Elements Formation, along with Demon Attracting Powder, to draw them out. I will pick the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit as quickly as possible. I can only spare one for you. My master tasked me with obtaining the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit when he sent me to the Secret Realm,"

Shen Long explained.

"Just a set of the Minor Five Elements Formation won’t be enough. I have a third-tier Enemy-Binding Talisman Seal on hand, which can trap a third-tier Monster Beast for some time, allowing you to pick the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit safely. You must be quick,"

Bai Keke advised.

"A third-tier Enemy-Binding Talisman Seal! That’s excellent,"

Shen Long said, his face lighting up with joy.

"There’s no time to lose, let’s get going!"

Bai Keke said.

They packed up the corpse of the black spider and left the area.

In an underground cavern, two Snow Pupil Toads lay under a fruit tree that was over two zhang high adorned with eight colorful fruits resembling lingzhi mushrooms. These were the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruits.

The third-stage Snow Pupil Toad opened its gaping maw and a pink tongue shot out, wrapping around a Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruit before pulling it into its mouth and swallowing it.

A unique scent wafted through the valley. The second-stage Snow Pupil Toad, upon detecting this fragrance, became excited. Springing up with its hind legs, it leaped towards the cave’s entrance.

Seeing this, the third-stage Snow Pupil Toad hurriedly followed.

Upon emerging from the cave, they dashed towards the valley exit, their speed astonishing.

No sooner had they left the valley than numerous red talismans flew towards them, transforming into a massive fiery red sphere that hurtled toward the second-stage Snow Pupil Toad.

The third-stage Snow Pupil Toad issued a grating screech, spewing out a blue sonic wave that shattered the incoming giant fireball.

Spiritual light flashed, and a five-colored light shield appeared suddenly, like a colossal inverted bowl, trapping them inside.

The second-stage Snow Pupil Toad’s eyes emitted a blinding white light, shooting beams at the five-colored light shield, which immediately frosted over as the ice layer rapidly spread.

The third-stage Snow Pupil Toad then released a blue sonic wave at the light shield, dimming its spiritual light.

It leaped up, landing beside the light shield and viciously striking it with its forepaws.

With a thunderous crash, the light shield wobbled and its spiritual light grew even dimmer.

It sprayed another blue sonic wave, striking the light shield, which flickered in and out of visibility. When its forepaw hit the light shield again, it could no longer hold up and shattered like a bubble.

Several thick green vines drilled out from beneath the ground, entwining the second-stage Snow Pupil Toad.

Its eyes each shot out a beam of white light at the green vines, frosting them over. With a twist of its massive body, the green vines shattered.

A yellow Giant Ape of immense size charged at them, but on closer observation, it was merely an apparition and not solid.

A thick, darting pink tongue pierced through the Yellow Giant Ape’s chest, eliciting a mournful wail as it dissipated into a flickering yellow talisman—an Beast Soul Talisman.

The yellow talisman self-ignited, burning to ashes.

Just as the third-stage Snow Pupil Toad was about to cast another spell, a yellow light shone down from above, revealing another flickering yellow talisman.

With a muffled bang, the yellow talisman burst, transforming into several thick yellow chains that wrapped around its body.

The Snow Pupil Toad twisted its body, tugging at the yellow chains, making a ’clattering’ noise.

The second-stage Snow Pupil Toad tried to help, but to no avail.

Deep underground, Bai Keke held a golden orb that shimmered with light.

"It’s a good thing the third-stage Snow Pupil Toad didn’t mutate, otherwise it wouldn’t have been so easy to deal with," Bai Keke said, somewhat relieved.

While the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruits could increase the chances of mutation for spirit beasts and insects below the fourth stage, consuming them didn’t guarantee mutation.

For the two Snow Pupil Toads, having one undergo mutation was already quite fortunate.

If the second-stage Snow Pupil Toad hadn’t mutated, treasure hunters from the Spirit Control Sect who first explored the Secret Realm would have wiped out the Snow Pupil Toads and harvested all the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruits.

Time passed slowly, and the Snow Pupil Toad struggled ceaselessly, causing lengthy cracks to form on the surface of the yellow chains.

After a short period, it snapped all the yellow chains and returned to the cave with its partner, but the Seven Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruits were nowhere to be found.

Unable to find the perpetrator, the Snow Pupil Toad could only rue its misfortune.

In a hidden cavern a hundred li away, Shen Long was speaking with Bai Keke.

"Fairy Bai, here are the Five-Colored Ganoderma Fruits I promised you," Shen Long said.

Shen Long handed a golden jade box to Bai Keke.

Bai Keke nodded, took the box without inspecting it, and deposited it directly into her storage bag, showing great trust in Shen Long.

"It’s a good thing the third-stage Snow Pupil Toad didn’t mutate, otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten our hands on this so easily," Bai Keke said again, with a hint of relief.

"That’s true, but we didn’t kill the second-stage Snow Pupil Toad. If we had, the third-stage would have freed itself even quicker," Shen Long remarked.

Some Monster Beasts place great importance on their partners. Shen Long had exploited this weakness to attack the second-stage Snow Pupil Toad, giving Bai Keke the opportunity she needed.

Bai Keke nodded and asked, "Taoist Friend Shen, what are your plans now? Shall we continue treasure hunting?"

"No, I’m used to being on my own. Farewell, Fairy Bai," Shen Long replied.

After saying this, Shen Long’s feet glowed with a blue light, and he left the place.

Bai Keke breathed a sigh of relief; she had indeed been worried that Shen Long would turn on
