Chapter 1053: You Must Learn to Let Go
Everyone looked toward the newcomer, but for some reason, no matter from which direction they looked, the newcomer was always standing with his back to them, hands clasped behind his back.
Fang Chen furrowed his brow. "Wang Chongsong...."
Li Wuwang softly asked, "What are you here for?"
"Didn't we agree? The person I borrowed should be returned as they were. Why did Bai Qingming's life lantern go out?" Wang Chongsong laughed. "You're not keeping your word."
Li Wuwang smiled and replied, "It's inevitable there will be some deaths and injuries. What's the big deal? Is it really worth you coming in person? I think you're still worried about that little girl who has fallen into demonic ways, right?"
Long Ruo, hearing their conversation, suddenly thought of the person Fang Chen had asked her to find.
The little girl who has fallen into demonic ways?
Her expression turned slightly strange. She felt that everything this group of people did carried some deeper meaning, something even a noble family like the Long Family couldn't fully grasp.
"I was planning to check on her, but... I'm more concerned about my disciple," said Wang Chongsong, smiling. "Bai Qingming is dead. I can let you off the hook for now, but if Fang Chen is gone, you'll have to give me an explanation."
"He has a spiritual treasure. This was something Changsheng didn't anticipate, and I guess you didn't know about it either, right?"
Li Wuwang said, "I will order people to search for this child. Even if you don't speak, I will find him."
Lu Qingshu's eyes were filled with surprise. "Who exactly is this person, and why can he converse so equally with Master..."
Judging by this person's aura, he was only at the Dao Union Realm, not even at the Tribulation Realm. Yet, for some reason, the person gave him a very dangerous feeling.
Wang Chongsong said indifferently, "Has a spiritual treasure? It's probably from that person in the Desolate Academy. But a spiritual treasure requires vast amounts of Immortal Essence, and Fang Chen is not a Loose Immortal, so he can't activate it many times. You should have your people keep a closer watch and bring him back quickly. He has quite a few Blood Spirit Pills on him."
"Are you interested in those Blood Spirit Pills? You're probably just trying to find the inheritance left for him by that anomaly."
Li Wuwang smiled. "Don't worry. Once I find him, I will have someone notify you. You won't be left out of the feast."
Li Wuwang paused for a moment before looking at the group of Loose Immortals from the Long Family. He said, "Are you prepared to take them in? Their karmic ties are heavy, but if they're refined into Blood Spirit Pills, any one of them could become a first-grade pill."
He then nodded toward the Heaven Calamity Dragoness. "Someone like her could easily be refined into a peak grade pill."
Hearing that, deep fear appeared on the faces of the Long Family members.
"Has your Spirit God Sect gone mad? You dare to collaborate with these sword cultivators and even help them cultivate a third-transformation sword cultivator?" Long Jingyao shouted angrily. "If this matter gets out, everyone will come after you. Don't think you can continue to survive on the Chaotic Star!"
"Let them come if they want to. What I fear is that they don't have the courage." Wang Chongsong chuckled.
He casually took out a gourd and swept it toward the crowd. A green light flashed, sucking the first and second transformation Loose Immortals of the Long Family into the gourd.
When Long Ao and the others saw this scene, they all gasped in shock, their eyes suffusing with despair.
The woman in the plain dress looked at Li Changsheng. "Dear, are you truly going to destroy my family?"
Li Changsheng spoke softly, "Since things have come to this stage. I can only protect the main branch. You haven't met my father, have you? Go, greet him properly."
"No need," said Li Wuwang.
With a soft smile, he left together with Wang Chongsong.
Li Changsheng watched them leave, then turned to the sword cultivators beside him and ordered, "Lock them up first. The Long Family has some secret dealings. Ask them well. We need to take full control."
"Yes!"
Long Ao and the others were locked in the ancestral hall, surrounded by heavily guarded sword cultivators. These sword cultivators were originally from the Long Family, mostly vice-heads of major sword academies, like Xue Shan and others.
Long Ao glared at Xue Shan, his eyes burning with endless rage. "Xue Shan, you've come this far because of the cultivation from my second branch. Have I ever treated you badly? You're truly an ingrate!"
Xue Shan grinned. "Long Ao, when have you ever treated me well? You only called on me when you needed me, and when I lost my son, you didn't even blink an eye."
He lightly ran the tip of his sword across Long Ao's neck. Soon, blood began to seep from the cut.
Long Ao said coldly, "If you want to kill me, then do it. Let's see if I'm afraid of you."
Xue Shan said, "You can't die yet. Speak, the Long Family has many assets that aren't registered. Start with your second branch,"
The third and fourth branches could only suppress their anger and silently ponder the current situation, ultimately coming to a conclusion that left them feeling despondent.
It seemed like the Long Family had no way out.
"Dream on." Long Ao sneered. "Even in death, these assets will go with me to the Underworld. Don't even think about getting your hands on them."
Xue Shan glanced at Fu Donghai. "Donghai."
Fu Donghai nodded and raised his hand, striking with a sword that instantly killed a young man from the second branch. This young man was also Long Ao's son.
Long Ao's face twitched as his anger surged, but he held it back. Seeing their own kin treated like animals, slain by the lowly sword cultivators they once looked down upon, the Long Family members clenched their fists in fury.
"Truly a heart of iron and stone." Xue Shan chuckled. "Let's see how long you can hold out."
Fu Donghai understood, and with a flash of his sword, another young life was taken.
"Father..."
"I don't want to die..."
"You won't have a good end!!"
Hearing the cries echoing around him, Long Ao couldn't help but close his eyes.
In just a short while, Fu Donghai had killed more than a dozen young men and women, all of them Long Ao's offspring. Their mothers were now in a state of shock, faces filled with despair and helplessness.
Fu Donghai cupped his hands and said, "Master, only Long Ruo is left, but I wish to marry her."
Xue Shan sighed lightly. "Donghai, you must understand that there are many things in this world that can't be obtained just because we desire them. Some things, some people, are destined to have no connection with you. You must learn to let go."
Fu Donghai's eyes flashed with a cold light. "Yes, Master. I understand."
Without even looking, he swung his sword.
A bloodstain appeared on Long Ruo's forehead, splitting her from top to bottom. She died on the spot. Before her death, there was no trace of fear in her eyes. Instead, there was a faint smile.
Seeing Long Ruo's serene expression as she died, a question couldn't help but rise in Fu Donghai's mind.
Why did she smile?
However, hardly had that thought appeared that Fu Donghai buried it deep in his heart. He didn't dare show concern for Long Ruo in front of Xue Shan.
The wandering souls of the Long Family disciples stood in place, confused for a moment, before they rushed toward Xue Shan with claws and fangs. Unfortunately, they couldn't harm Xue Shan, and he was completely unaware of their presence. No matter what they did, it was all in vain.
Long Xiang looked at Long Ruo with confusion. "Sister, what are we now?"
Long Ruo smiled and nodded. "We're wandering souls now, but you need not be afraid. We still have a way out."
Her brothers and sisters, hearing that, gathered around her with eager eyes.
At that moment, everyone heard a voice.
"Everyone, stop lingering here. Go wait outside."
The wandering souls were slightly startled and looked up, their eyes filled with surprise.
They recognized the two before them. They were both sword cultivators brought by Li Changsheng. One was called Bai Qingming, and the other was Bai Lingyue.
