Chapter 45: Green Vines

While flames burned the vines and the young man’s body, the woman calmly watched the young man’s last struggle. Just as the young man gradually lost consciousness, the woman tightened the vine around his neck. A second later, there was a cracking sound echo in the silent room.

Crack! Crack!

The man’s neck was broken as he died with open eyes. There is still a sneer hanging on the corner of his mouth when he died. When the fire was finally extinguished, the woman looked at the young man’s half-charred corpse for a moment, before stabbing the corpse with a vine.

Glug~ Glug~ Glug~

The eerie sound of sucking echoed in the silent room, and no one dared to raise their heads. After a few minutes, the woman controlled the vine and gently placed the white skeleton in another corner of the room like a treasure. Touching her stomach, the woman licked her red lips and looked at the humans sitting in the corner again.

In the next second, countless vines shot out from under her white dress. As screams echoed inside the hospital, more and more white skeletons were added to the pile of skeletons in the corner of the room.

In the building opposite the hospital, Zhu Lin, Xiu Wu and Tan Wei were busy killing zombies, while Tu Tu and Ji Yang were busy digging out the crystal nucleus. When they heard the screams coming from the direction of the hospital, they looked at each other.

As for Tan Wei, when he heard the screams, he calmly burned a zombie to death, and asked, "Did those screams come from the hospital?"

Xiu Wu glanced at him and said, "Mhm. Let’s hurry up. We still have to go to the hospital to get medical supplies."

After several days of cooperation, their coordination and teamwork are getting better and better. In just one hour, they cleaned up the zombies in the office building, and then rushed to the hospital. Without the little zombie controlling the other low rank zombies, they easily made their way to the hospital.

Standing outside the hospital, the four of them and a little rabbit looked at the ground covered by green vines around the hospital entrance. Tu Tu jumped on Zhu Lin’s shoulder and asked, [Master, is this the same as the Corpse Flower before?]

Zhu Lin looked at the vines thoughtfully, and said, [I’m not sure. The vines look normal, but I can sense strong devil energy flowing inside these vines.]

[Then what should we do? The entire hospital has been covered in vines, but we still have to go in.] Tu Tu asked again.

Before Zhu Lin could answer Tu Tu’s question, Xiu Wu’s voice came from beside her.

"Xiao Wei, try to burn those vines." He said calmly.

Tan Wei nodded, then raised his hand, and transmitted his energy to his palms. In the next second, two big fireballs flew out and shot towards the vines.

Boom! Boom!

The fireball hit the vines and made a loud noise, attracting several nearby zombies. Seeing those zombies approaching, Xiu Wu raised his hand and chopped off the heads of the zombies with his ability. Sensing a crystal nucleus in one of the zombie’s heads, Tu Tu ran out to dig out the crystal nucleus.

By the time the rabbit returned with the little crystal nucleus, the dust had already settled. They looked at the vines again and found that Tan Wei’s fireballs just left a small burning mark on the vines.

Tan Wei raised his eyebrows and threw a few more fireballs towards the vines, but none of them could do much damage to the vines. When he wanted to attack again, Xiu Wu stopped him and said, "These vines could resist fire. Let me try."

With that said, Xiu Wu activated his ability and chopped the vines into pieces. Seeing that his attack worked, Ji Yang said, "Fortunately, Lao Xiu’s space blade can cut it."

Before they could breathe a sigh of relief, the vine moved, and a new vine grew rapidly from the place where it was cut off. Looking at the regeneration speed of the vines, Tan Wei frowned deeply and said, "These vines cannot be burned or be cut off. It seems that this mutant plant is very difficult to deal with."

Looking at their gloomy expressions, Zhu Lin asked, "How about we go to another hospital?"

Xiu Wu shook his head and said, "Except for the nearest hospital which is in the city center, there is no more hospital in this area. But to get to the other hospital, we must pass through densely populated residential areas and shopping areas. Apart from the large number of zombies along the way, there are a lot of zombies inside that hospital too."

He frowned slightly and added: "Before the end of the world, many people got sick, and most of them went to that hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, after a week, they all turned into zombies. It’s too dangerous to go there just with the four of us."

Since going to the other hospital is very risky, their only choice is to collect the medical supplies from this hospital. Otherwise, Zhu Lin will need to give up her mission and pay for the penalty fee.

Because this is her mission, Xiu Wu asked, "Xiao Lin, what do you want to do? Should we go to this hospital, or go back to the base now."

Zhu Lin thought for a while, looked at them and said, "I will go in alone. This is my mission, and I don’t want the three of you to take this unnecessary risk."
