After enduring many experiment tests, I finally found a chance to escape from the secret laboratory."

He paused, looked at the ruins around him, and said, "Unfortunately, when I successfully escaped from that hell place, the world had turned into another hell. Those who betrayed me and hurt me are all dead, and I have no home to go back to now."

Listening to his story, Zhu Lin lowered her eyes slightly and remembered the people wearing white coats she had seen in the village before. If what this zombie said is true, then the strange zombie they caught before should also be the result of those people’s experiments.

Thinking of those people, Zhu Lin’s eyes flashed with cold light as she thought: ’No wonder the world has become like this. It turns out that all of this is the result of those people’s experiments.’

Lei Haozhan saw her standing there quietly and asked, "Miss Zhu, can you stay with me from now on?"

When I am close to you, I even feel comfortable and full of life. Besides, if you wanted to kill me, you wouldn’t stand here and talk to me calmly."

After saying that, Lei Haozhan took a step closer to Zhu Lin. There was only thirty centimeters between the two of them. He took a deep breath and exhaled again with a peaceful expression.

The feeling he got from inhaling her scent was much better than the feeling he got from that small piece of black branch. It was as if the fire that had never stopped burning inside his body suddenly disappeared, leaving only a comfortable warmth.

Hearing his sigh, Zhu Lin looked at his relaxed and peaceful expression thoughtfully. After thinking for a while, she took out a two-centimeter-sized black branch. The moment the black branch appeared on her palm, Lei Haozhan’s eyes lit up.

Looking at his reaction, Zhu Lin was convinced that the comfort he got from her was actually from her divine power. When the divine energy enters his body, it can neutralize the devil energy and repair his body. Over time, if he absorbs enough divine energy, he can even transform back into a human as he still retains his sanity and consciousness.

Zhu Lin showed the two-centimeter-long black branch to Lei Haozhan and asked, "Do you feel warmth when you get close to this branch?"

Lei Haozhan shook his head and said, "I just felt attracted to it, but I didn’t feel anything besides that strange attraction."

Hearing this, Zhu Lin nodded and then used her divine energy to burn one end of the black branch. Thirty seconds later, a thin line of smoke slowly rose from the burnt end of the branch. As soon as the smoke appeared, Lei Haozhan’s expression changed.

Looking at his intoxicated face, Zhu Lin was now sure that it was not her or the branch of the Phoenix Tree that attracted him, but divine energy. When Zhu Lin found out about this, she said, "This branch is for you."

Lei Haozhan stared at the small black branch in silence for a few seconds, then raised his eyes to look at Zhu Lin and asked with a hint of disappointment in his voice: "Will you leave after I accept this branch?"

Zhu Lin nodded and said, "I still have things to do, so I can’t accompany you."
