Chapter 180: Chapter 180: The Crown Prince’s Cunning Plan_1
"First Prince..."
Qin Feiyang lowered his head in thought for a moment and asked, "Do you know the First Prince’s cultivation level?"
"We don’t know."
Fatty and Lu Hong shook their heads.
Qin Feiyang stood up and said, "I’m going to the Grand Cultivation Hall. When Chief Li arrives later, ask him about it. Also, find out the rules of the competition—the more details, the better."
Lu Hong frowned. "You just rushed back and look exhausted. Go rest first. I’ll talk to Feng Ling’er."
Fatty nodded.
It was clear that despite Qin Feiyang appearing strong on the surface, he was actually very tired. They genuinely wanted to help share his burdens.
"It’s fine. Just sorting out the Qiankun Bags will be a huge help," Qin Feiyang said with a smile. He turned, left the pavilion, and headed straight for the Grand Cultivation Hall.
Two Steward Elders were stationed there.
One of them asked in confusion, "What are you doing here?"
Qin Feiyang saluted. "Junior wishes to see Feng Ling’er."
"I figured you were here to find Feng Ling’er."
"She’s in practice room number one. Go on in yourself, but remember to be respectful," the two said with suggestive smirks.
Respectful? Qin Feiyang gave a wry smile. Have they forgotten I’m still a minor?
However, he didn’t explain. He saluted them once more and stepped into the Grand Cultivation Hall.
In front of practice room number one, Qin Feiyang stood before the stone door, hesitating to knock. He could imagine how devastated Feng Ling’er would be when she learned of Feng Cheng’s death.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Finally, he let out a long breath and gently rapped on the door.
But after waiting for quite a while, there was still no response from Feng Ling’er, and the door remained closed.
Not here? Qin Feiyang frowned.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, the stone door slowly creaked open, and a pale face came into view.
Qin Feiyang looked at Feng Ling’er. Her cheeks were streaked with drying tears, her eyes were red and swollen, and her face was gaunt. She had clearly just been crying.
A puzzled look appeared on his face as he asked, "What happened to you?"
"Do you need something?" Feng Ling’er countered, her voice somewhat hoarse.
"I..." Qin Feiyang began, then trailed off.
"If there’s nothing, then please leave. I’m not in the mood to entertain you right now." Feng Ling’er finished speaking and reached out to close the stone door.
What needs to be said must be said, Qin Feiyang sighed inwardly. He reached out, stopping the stone door, and looked at Feng Ling’er. "Your grandfather..."
At that moment, Feng Ling’er’s body trembled.
"What?" Qin Feiyang raised an eyebrow. "You already know?"
"Yes. Elder Ji came to me just now and told me herself," Feng Ling’er nodded, tears gushing down her face.
Qin Feiyang asked in surprise, "How would she know? Has the Hall Master returned already?"
"I don’t know anything. I just want to be alone for a while," Feng Ling’er shook her head and slammed the door shut with a BANG. The faint sound of sobbing could be heard from within.
Qin Feiyang stood before the door, somewhat at a loss.
"Jian Haotian, in the entire Martial King Palace, you and Ling’er have the closest relationship. Go and comfort her properly."
Suddenly, an old voice sounded from behind him.
Startled, Qin Feiyang turned to see Elder Wan standing there, his aged face etched with sorrow.
Qin Feiyang said in exasperation, "Elder, can’t you make a sound when you walk?!"
Elder Wan forced a stiff smile.
Qin Feiyang asked, "Has the Hall Master returned yet?"
"He’s on his way back," Elder Wan said. "By the way, I have some bad news for you: Zuo An escaped."
"That should be good news," Qin Feiyang retorted, a cold smirk playing on his lips.
"Hmph!" Elder Wan frowned, displeased. "What kind of talk is that?"
"The truth. With a scoundrel like Ma Cheng involved, it’s hard *not* to fail," Qin Feiyang stated. "By the way, have you told Feng Ling’er the real cause of Feng Cheng’s death?"
"No. She’s already heartbroken, and she’s so young. We don’t want her to carry such a heavy burden. You mustn’t tell her either," Elder Wan instructed. "Also, the Hall Master has reached an agreement with Ma Cheng. The Elixir King Palace will no longer target you. The condition is that you cannot publicize Ma Cheng’s actions on Black Bear Mountain. Especially that Fatty—tell him to watch his mouth," Elder Wan warned, his expression grave.
"If he dared to do it, why is he afraid of people talking about it?" Qin Feiyang demanded angrily.
"He is, after all, the Hall Master of the Elixir King Palace; his reputation is paramount. Our Hall Master, the Yan King, and Pavilion Master Jiang also have to consider the bigger picture. In such complex circumstances, many things can’t simply be done as one wishes," Elder Wan said, his old face full of helplessness.
Qin Feiyang said with self-mockery, "Exchanging the lives of Feng Cheng and the Bear King for peace for all of us—what a ’profitable’ deal indeed."
"Sigh..." Elder Wan sighed softly, patting Qin Feiyang’s shoulder. "The dead cannot be revived. Don’t grieve too much. Live well in the present."
With that, Elder Wan turned and departed. He had actually come here to comfort Feng Ling’er, but now, it seemed his comfort was no longer needed.
Ma Cheng... Qin Feiyang’s hands clenched tightly, his gaze becoming fierce. Although I can’t deal with Ma Cheng right now, I’ll slowly collect the interest he owes me, he thought.
He glanced at the cultivation room, also preparing to leave.
But at this moment, Feng Ling’er opened the stone door, walked out of the cultivation room, and said indifferently, "Follow me."
Qin Feiyang silently followed. Since he had made a promise to Feng Cheng, he naturally had to see it through.
As it turned out, Feng Ling’er wanted to drown her sorrows in alcohol.
By midnight, she was completely intoxicated and unconscious.
Qin Feiyang carried her back to Quiet Heart Lake.
Fatty and Lu Hong immediately came forward.
Reaching the second floor, Qin Feiyang entered a room and laid Feng Ling’er on the bed.
Then, he stood up, looked at Lu Hong, and smiled. "Fetch a basin of water to help her freshen up, and change her into some clean clothes. For now, just stay with her. Take her out more often and talk to her."
"Understood," Lu Hong nodded.
"Thank you for your trouble," Qin Feiyang smiled and said to Fatty, "You, come downstairs with me."
The two quickly went downstairs and sat by the tea table.
Qin Feiyang asked, "What about the medicinal herbs?"
Fatty took out two Qiankun Bags, his voice thrilled. "Boss, do you know what Master Fatty found in the Bear King’s treasure? Two Red Fire Glazed Trees with a total of six leaves, seven Fire Ginsengs, two Blood Ginsengs, one Nine Suns Flower, and one Snow Crystal!"
"What?" Qin Feiyang was dumbfounded. Such incredibly rare medicinal herbs?
Fatty continued, "Besides these, there are many other relatively precious medicinal herbs. As for Gold Coins, there weren’t that many, just over 1,000,000."
Qin Feiyang chuckled. "With these medicinal herbs, will we still be short of Gold Coins?" He felt a surge of gratitude towards the Bear King, but at the same time, his guilt deepened. If I hadn’t notified the Yan King and the others, how would the Bear King have died?
Fatty frowned and said angrily, "Boss, don’t take all the responsibility on yourself. You’re just adding unnecessary pressure. If anyone’s to blame, it’s that old bastard Ma Cheng!"
Qin Feiyang smiled faintly. "I’m fine."
"Sigh!" Master Fatty let out a long sigh, then grinned. "Master Fatty has sorted them. We have enough ingredients for three Potential Elixirs and six Vermilion Glazed Pills. They’re all in this Qiankun Bag." He pointed to the Qiankun Bag on the left.
"Three portions!" Qin Feiyang was overjoyed. He turned to Fatty, his eyes glinting.
Fatty rubbed his nose and chuckled. "Why are you looking at Master Fatty like that? Are you captivated by Master Fatty’s handsome looks too?"
At that, Qin Feiyang rolled his eyes and smiled. "I might as well entrust all the medicinal herbs and Gold Coins to you for safekeeping."
Fatty paused, then grinned slyly. "Aren’t you afraid Master Fatty will line his own pockets?"
Qin Feiyang said nonchalantly, "It doesn’t matter. I’ll just ask you for them when I need them."
"So you want to be a hands-off manager!" Fatty looked exasperated. "Honestly, Boss, keeping all the medicinal herbs and Gold Coins with Master Fatty isn’t very safe. What if Master Fatty gets robbed? So, we should split them. Master Fatty will hold onto the medicinal herbs, and Lu Hong can manage the Gold Coins. What do you think, Boss?"
Qin Feiyang smiled. "That’s quite thoughtful of you. You two decide amongst yourselves. I’m going to refine Potential Elixirs now. Give me the Qiankun Bag once you’ve sorted it, and remember to leave me some pocket money."
"Dream on! Master Fatty won’t leave you a single silver coin!" Fatty cackled.
Qin Feiyang shot him a look, grabbed the Qiankun Bag on the left, and prepared to enter the old castle.
"Boss, wait! What about this?" Fatty quickly called out, holding up a piece of paper.
Qin Feiyang took it, and his expression instantly darkened.
It was an IOU!
It stated that Qin Feiyang owed the Treasure Pavilion 30,000,000 Gold Coins. If not repaid within a month, an interest of 1,000 Gold Coins would be charged daily.
"Thirty million! Where are we going to get that kind of money?" Fatty fumed, his head throbbing. "Damn it, that old bastard Chief Li! Why doesn’t he just go rob people?"
Qin Feiyang asked, "How many Gold Coins do we have now?"
"Just over 4,000,000," Fatty replied.
"Only just over 4,000,000? That’s a drop in the bucket. Once I refine the Vermilion Glazed Pills, we can use them to pay off the debt." Qin Feiyang tossed the IOU back to Fatty and vanished without a trace.
After a while, Lu Hong came downstairs.
Fatty asked, "How is she?"
"She’s asleep," Lu Hong smiled. "What were you two talking about down here just now?"
Fatty said, "Boss said that from now on, Master Fatty manages the medicinal herbs, and you manage the Gold Coins. In other words, Master Fatty now controls the material assets, and you control the finances!"
Lu Hong smiled. "That’s a good thing. It shows he trusts us a lot."
"Exactly! So, you have to do a good job and not let Boss down. How about we go on a date? A candlelight dinner to celebrate?" Fatty leered at her.
An icy frost instantly covered Lu Hong’s face. Fatty’s neck seemed to shrink, and he hastily scrambled away.
「Meanwhile.」
In a grand hall of the Royal Palace.
Lin Hao frowned. "Your Highness, the elimination round starts tomorrow. Jian Haotian still hasn’t registered. Do you think he’ll even participate?"
The First Prince said, "If I knew, would I be fretting about it here?"
Lin Hao suggested, "How about we increase the rewards again?"
The First Prince’s eyes lit up; that was indeed a good idea.
"Alright. Announce it tomorrow morning."
"The first-place prize: one Nine Suns Flower and one Snow Crystal."
"The second-place prize: three Red Fire Glazed Tree leaves."
"The third-place prize: one Fire Ginseng."
"I refuse to believe we can’t draw him out!" The First Prince sneered, a cold light flickering in his eyes.
