Immortal Father -
Chapter 906 - 906 316 Massacre!
906: Chapter 316: Massacre!
[Vote for Monthly Pass]_2 906: Chapter 316: Massacre!
[Vote for Monthly Pass]_2 Surrounding villages are numerous, all dwelling in simple thatched cottages and straw huts.
In the villages, every household worships the ‘Reed Law Goddess,’ offering prayers three times a day as a rule, and each month they must take rice, hunted game, and cloth to exchange for ‘incense’ and talisman water at the temple.
Most here are mortals, with many a sallow and emaciated figure, hardly clad, as if the mundane towns of the East Continent had suffered a disaster year, and no Immortal had managed to provide shelter in time.
Li Ping’an suddenly understood why it is said that being born under the main Heaven and Earth is a mortal’s blessing.
Li Ping’an concealed his form and walked among the villages, without actively invoking the Path of Sentient Beings, yet it brought to him the voices of sentient hearts.
Throughout there were wails of living creatures, but also some laughter.
Up ahead at the entrance of the village a disturbance erupted: two monks, their faces shining with fat, with sticks in hand, knocked an old man to the ground.
They brutally beat him with their sticks, turning the old man’s forehead into a bloody, fleshly mess, as he screamed in agony.
Yet within the village, every household shuttered its doors.
Those who had been out and about quickly scurried back into their homes, bolting their doors and windows shut.
The monks cursed and swore as they spoke;
It seems that this old man failed to exchange for incense on time, causing the family’s deity statue to lose its incense offerings.
Li Ping’an’s chest pendant, an ice-blue ornament, trembled slightly but was stilled by his hand.
Li Ping’an didn’t linger, his form vanishing into the temple.
Upon reaching the temple and passing through a rather weak Formation, the whining sounds crept into everyone’s ears.
In front of the temple’s deity statue, over a dozen old monks entwined themselves in unrestrained passion with beauties raised within the temple, their pale bodies wriggling like maggots, a sight that nauseated Li Ping’an.
Behind the main hall, hundreds of figures sat in silent meditation, their eyes half-open, void of any brightness, and along with the chanting, strands of faint golden light surged towards the firmament.
— These Dao Soldiers came from other minor Heavens, not sustained by the local incense offerings.
— They chanted here only to prolong their own lives through the merit of the local incense, waiting to be sent to the main Heaven and Earth.
Li Ping’an looked up, revealing golden light in his eyes, to see a massive expanse of pale red Merit Clouds related to incense offerings in the sky.
The merit here was several times that of the great deeds of the God Tian Hu in the past;
A Wild God had been born here, one that feared the local evil creatures and disciples of the Western Sect alike, thus it concealed itself and slumbered, daring not to stir.
Although a Wild God is but a deity of incense-worthy spirit, it began to develop its own consciousness prior to birth, each one rather intelligent and able to sense the laws of the Heavenly Dao, following the will of the Heavenly Way in their actions.
So, such Wild Gods neither dare to, nor intend to ally with, the evil creatures.
To eradicate the evil creatures, the Heavenly Dao might have to expend its power, and the evil creatures’ sins must reach the level of ‘intolerability by Heaven and Earth’;
But to annihilate the Wild Gods, the Heavenly Dao need not exhaust any of its power;
It only needs to collapse the consciousness of the Wild Gods.
“However,” Guilingling transmitted a message to inquire, “there is a countless amount of grain beneath the temple, all rotting away.
Why not use it for mortals?”
Li Ping’an did not respond, merely pondering while looking at the sky.
Luo Xuejing explained:
“It makes controlling mortals easier, letting them struggle for survival without starvation, and leaving them too weak to rebel.
“It’s not just that; the salt wells, essential to the mortals, are controlled by the temples everywhere, and they reward those mortals who behave well with a precise amount at fixed times.
“The only thing in this Heaven and Earth not under the control of the Western Sect is the water supply.”
Immortal Huanglong muttered somberly: “Deserving of death!”
“And what shall we do after killing them?”
Li Ping’an asked:
“It’s not difficult for us to band together, slaughter the evil spirits here, annihilate over ten thousand monks within the temples, and destroy millions of Dao Soldiers in this world.
“It would at most be half a month’s work.
“But what after that?
The tens of millions of mortals here will fall into disarray due to the collapse of order…
If those evil spirits retaliate against the mortals…
to them, these mortals might just be soul food…”
Several beams of immortal light departed from Li Ping’an’s body, morphing into Qing Su, Zi Yao Xianzi, Immortal Huanglong, and Luo Xuejing.
Qing Su looked at Li Ping’an’s face and said softly: “Disciple?”
“Hmm?”
Qing Su said: “Do not blame yourself for the evil deeds of the wicked.
You and I are not Sect Hierarchs; we can only do what is within our power.”
“I know, Master.
I’m just worried about them and thinking of ways to protect these mortals.
“When Immortals wage war, they will inevitably be affected.
“The distance from the Misty Realm is too great; it’s difficult for tens of millions of mortals to relocate there, not to mention crossing the vast Void outside the main Heavenly Dao…”
Li Ping’an took a light breath, his gaze growing resolute:
“Prepare to act.
“Uncle, the Soul-Cleaving Banner.”
“Oh, okay,” Mother Gui Ling passed the Soul-Cleaving Banner back to Li Ping’an, “Use this with caution; it somewhat harms the Heavenly harmony.”
“Magical treasures are neither good nor bad; the morality lies within the heart.”
Li Ping’an brought his sword fingers together, gently gliding them in front of him; Immortal Huanglong, Mother Gui Ling, and Zi Yao Xianzi simultaneously conceived three positions in their minds, the locations of three Western Sect disciples.
“Uncle Huanglong taught me the art of surprise attacks.
Wait for my command later; show no mercy.
These are the culprits of the world’s calamity, utterly eradicate them.”
“Good!”
Immortal Huanglong responded affirmatively and gave a few words of instruction to the two Immortals, then the three high-skilled experts simultaneously concealed their forms and departed stealthily.
Li Ping’an called out, “Come forth!”
From Li Ping’an’s waist, a bag flashed with immortal light, transforming into Xing He and Xinghan along with the four trusted aides, Tingzhu and Soul-Cleaving Banner, who immediately bowed with fisted hands.
“You four, follow my master’s lead.
After the disciples of the Western Sect are wiped out, target the evil spirits of this world!”
“Yes!”
Li Ping’an’s right hand gave a light shake, and the White Tiger, carrying Ningning Mu and Wen Ling’er, landed beside them.
