[Vote for Three More Updates] 867: Chapter 303: Ping’an Comprehends the Way of All Beings!
[Vote for Three More Updates] Nine skies initiated the intent of Dao, the Western Continent thundered.
Li Ping’an steered his boat across the nine skies, waiting for his moment to enter the scene.
He had estimated, even if the Human Race had the advantage from the start of this massive battle, it would still take at least several days to complete the encirclement of the Spirit Mountain area.
Thus, he looked down upon all living beings from on high, gaining a flash of spiritual insight as he pondered the relationship between ‘war and peace,’ ‘living beings and the Heavenly Dao,’ and, without much hesitation, he began to meditate, carefully perceiving the world around him.
He had been to the battlefields between the Human Race and the Demon Race,
that experience gave him a profound understanding of the great battle of living beings that was about to erupt below, evoking many vivid, realistic, and fleshy images in his heart.
Gradually, Li Ping’an’s insights began to overrun him.
He was contemplating the Heavenly Dao;
also contemplating the Way of Living Beings;
or perhaps, he wasn’t cultivating but trying to understand, to resonate.
Suddenly, cries of killing echoed in his ears;
Li Ping’an seemed to have returned to before Broken Dawn City once more, watching the Demon-like Centurion Fu Yu, his heart’s vision suddenly emptied.
He flew like a bird over the battlefield in the Western Continent, watching from above as millions of living beings collided like torrents and dams, observing the demon soldiers starting to retreat on a large scale in just an instant.
Then he saw packs of demon beasts ravaging the battlefield, numerous demon beasts attacking the Human Race’s battle formation from all directions, their numbers beyond counting.
Suddenly, a somewhat eerie flute sound started, and the demon soldiers’ eyes reddened.
The Demon Race had begun to use “Devouring Spirit Art.”
Li Ping’an couldn’t accurately explain the state he was in right now.
He overlooked half of the Western Continent, floating freely, his heart filled with numerous enlightenments, even directly understanding the principle of “Devouring Spirit Art.”
—This art required planting talisman seeds in the demon soldiers’ and demon souls beforehand, also having a certain time effectiveness, generally, the Demon King would imbue it in drinks, given to unaware demons to consume.
The emergence of the demon beasts and “Devouring Spirit Art” gradually increased the intensity of the battlefield.
Li Ping’an silently observed all this, sensing everything.
It seemed the Heavenly Dao was trying to teach him some truths, making him understand that the mutual killing among living beings was unavoidable;
or perhaps, the Heavenly Dao wanted him to realize that restraining the powerful was to protect this world and even more living beings.
In Li Ping’an’s perception, the flow of time seemed to malfunction.
His current state was like his Primordial Spirit had left the body, yet it was even more mystical.
The Primordial Spirit still resided in the Spirit Platform, with nothing unusual around;
one moment previously, he had been overlooking half of the Western Continent, seeing the mighty torrents formed by the aggregation of the force of the living;
in the next breath, he seemed to stand at the center of a brutal battlefield, watching Magic Artifacts flying chaotically, seeing packs of beasts and demons shredded by the Human Race’s battle formation, seeing immortals depleted of their immortal power swallowed by beast hordes…
Formless and traceless, fluttering naturally.
He seemed to have become the eyes of the Heavenly Dao, or as if the Heavenly Dao had given him countless new eyes.
Time passed unknowingly in such a state.
The battle lines began to push from south to north.
After both the Human Race and Demon Race suffered numerous casualties, the leaders on both sides consciously elongated the battle line to lessen the intensity; the Human Race began to capitalize on their formation, Magic Artifacts, talismans, and Elixir Pills, while the Demon Race continuously transformed demon beasts in the rear, creating expendable demon soldiers.
In the deserts, mountains, and lakesides of the Western Continent, there were fires of war raging since ancient times.
‘What does the Heavenly Dao want me to comprehend?’
‘Or rather, is this just the Heavenly Dao making me clearly see the scene of living beings slaughtering each other?’
‘That’s not quite it either, it seems the Heavenly Dao doesn’t really want me to do anything; it’s my Dao heart that’s restless, borrowing the might of the Heavenly Dao and the perspectives of all beings.’
Li Ping’an fell silent.
Having understood these things, he no longer indulged in wild thoughts but focused on ‘viewing’ the great battle.
At times, he became a celestial soldier of the Human Race, following behind the leader, obeying orders from behind to encircle demon beasts or charge fearlessly;
at other times, he became a demon beast full of murderous desire, blindly charging forward, attacking everything within reach;
and at times, he became innocent beings affected by the war, like an old tree, a plant, a shivering fish, a worm rolling in the soil.
Various profound insights remained in his heart.
The verses of the “Dao Scripture,” which he had not deeply understood before, now continuously surged in his mind.
No reason, only nature.
Li Ping’an continued to perceive, ponder, and walk through the frontline battlefield of the great war in the Western Continent.
Gradually, he was no longer satisfied with just ‘watching.’
He began to feel the emotions of these living beings who lent him their sights, as well as their strong wishes buried deep in their hearts.
Li Ping’an, without any personal bias, naturally wandered through the hearts of all beings, hearing distinctly different heartbeats.
‘These damn demon beasts, why can’t they just die themselves!
Kill!
Wipe them all out!’
‘We need to bring as many back as possible…
Damn it, if I had the cultivation of a Heavenly Immortal, there would be fewer casualties…’
‘Death, all must die, you all must die here!’
‘Why make us fight the Human Race, I don’t even eat people; I’m here for plant cultivation.’
‘Mother, I want to go home…’
Li Ping’an silently listened, his vision filled with continuously blossoming bright red flowers.
War has never been an art, nor a continuation of politics; it’s the living beings mutually slaughtering each other, struggling for the right to survive in this world.
Using one’s own might to bully the weak and initiate wars, this is evil;
