Immortal Father -
Chapter 577 - 577 203 Fenghou Coughs Up Blood Ningning Returns
577: Chapter 203: Fenghou Coughs Up Blood, Ningning Returns 577: Chapter 203: Fenghou Coughs Up Blood, Ningning Returns The Eight Trigrams Plate spun for several hours.
Fenghou’s expression shifted from initial ease to gradually becoming solemn, wrapping herself in multiple layers of Dao Charm, getting serious, and divining with all her might.
Everyone watched without understanding.
Li Dazhi also felt a bit uneasy and moved closer to Li Ping’an, exchanging glances with his son.
Their biggest secret was that they were “not natives of the Desolate Era.”
If Fenghou were to divine this, who knows what trouble might arise.
Li Ping’an, however, appeared quite calm, comforting his father with a look, indicating there was no need for worry.
If Fenghou could divine this secret, she would have already done so when divining about him.
—There was no helping it.
Due to matters of the Human Race and the Heavenly Court, Fenghou was bound to keep divining about him.
Li Ping’an waited for a while, and feeling somewhat sleepy, he said to his father:
“You wait here, I’m going to check on Ningning.”
“Ah, go ahead…
Eh!
This is Minister Feng’s residence, don’t wander off!”
Li Dazhi hastily called out, but Li Ping’an just waved his hand and had already slipped out of the main hall, strolling toward the back garden.
Xing He and Xinghan wanted to follow and protect him, but were stopped by Wang Shan.
“Immortal Officer Wang, why are you stopping us brothers?”
“Yeah, we need to protect our lord!”
“What lord, you should be addressing him as master!”
Wang Shan cupped his hands and smiled:
“What danger could there be in Minister Feng’s home?
I heard before that Li Mu’s daughter is staying here temporarily.
She is our master’s childhood friend, a sworn sister, and his betrothed.
They are meeting here; why should you two rough fellows tag along?”
To the side, Feng Tingzhu whispered, “We should still report to Minister Feng.
The master just went straight to the backyard like this…”
“Don’t worry, it won’t be a problem.”
Wang Shan looked at Fenghou, who was focusing on operating the Eight Trigrams Plate, and said softly:
“The master has his own considerations, we just have to follow orders.”
The three trusted aides nodded to each other.
Unconsciously, the three had come to regard Wang Shan as their big brother, and while they might not follow his every command, they certainly held him in high regard.
Li Ping’an and Ningning Mu hadn’t seen each other for several years.
As Li Ping’an neared the loft where Ningning Mu was staying, a sense of restlessness arose in his heart, bringing with it a surge of impulse, which then turned into a twinge of anxiety.
He feared the estrangement that might come with meeting again, the distance that could creep into their conversation;
He was afraid their eyes might unconsciously avoid each other’s gaze;
He feared they wouldn’t be able to find the fervor they once shared.
But as Li Ping’an, led by a maid, passed through the corridor and around the flower hall, and saw Ningning Mu waiting inside the door of the loft, all his impulse and anxiety transformed into joy.
She greeted him with a poised curtsy, saying:
“This humble girl pays her respects to Inspector Li.”
Then, unable to help it, she let out a chuckle, her bright eyes sparkling as she gazed at Li Ping’an.
The fairy’s youthfulness always accompanies a girl’s air, her body light and soft, her eyes gleaming bright.
Bathing in incense and honeyed agar, all for the man who captivates her heart.
Ningning Mu was now only half a step away from becoming an immortal.
She was even more porcelain and luminous than years before, her figure still graceful.
She had been impressive since a young girl and now was even more so, with a slender waist one could hardly encircle with a hand, and the fullness of her figure straining against her garments.
Her straight and rounded legs and the jade of her feet hidden under her skirt supported that thrilling curve of her waist.
Her fair swan-like neck and her delicate, seductive face, with a hint of the ethereal, could easily make one stand still and gaze, forgetting where one was.
The maid in front coughed lightly and whispered, “Inspector Li, Miss Ningning is waiting for you.”
“Oh, right, thank you for showing the way.”
Li Ping’an cleared his throat and calmly stepped past the maid into the room.
Just as he was about to say a few awkward greetings to cover up the embarrassment with his bubbly voice, Ningning Mu called out softly and took two steps forward, throwing herself into his arms.
“Brother apprentice.”
Li Ping’an instinctively opened his arms; with a slight gathering of his hands, his left arm went around her waist, and his right hand rested on her back, naturally completing the embrace.
The maid stepped forward, bowed her head with a light smile, closed the door, and the loft’s Formation activated on its own.
Ningning Mu sobbed on his shoulder.
Li Ping’an hurriedly asked, “What’s wrong?
Did someone from the Feng family bully you?”
Ningning Mu gently shook her head, “I haven’t seen you in so long…
The elder sisters of the Feng family are nice to me, it’s just, I wanted to visit you and they always refused…”
“There, there, why cry?”
Li Ping’an patted her back, feeling that she had grown much thinner, her skin still smooth and translucent, but her back was practically devoid of flesh.
He said, “Now I have the small statue given by the Holy Mother, so from now on, you will stay by my side.
Wherever I go, I will take you with me.
Later I will speak to Minister Feng about this.”
Ningning Mu was slightly surprised and looked up at Li Ping’an, “Really?”
Li Ping’an wasn’t sure how to respond, and as he looked down…
Her peach blossom eyes were slightly red, with the appearance of tearful begonias and newly blossoming crabapples, truly heart-melting.
Li Ping’an bent down and leaned in closer.
Ningning Mu didn’t dodge, bit her lip, and then closed her eyes to meet him.
Before long, the two found themselves at the bedside, and thankfully, Li Ping’an snapped out of it in time, stopped short of the edge, simply holding Ningning Mu, whose eyes were slightly dazed, and did nothing more.
Once they had both calmed down, they sat embracing in an armchair.
Her body was incredibly light and soft, no doubt because her Dao Body was infused with Spiritual Energy, bringing it close to that of a celestial.
Li Ping’an twirled a strand of her hair, looking at the sky of the secret realm through the door crack, his mind filled with many images.
Emperor Jun and Xihe, the Splendid Pool shrouded in mist.
“Ningning, let’s get married,” Li Ping’an said softly.
“Now?”
Ningning Mu nestled in his arms, whispering, “Actually…
without getting married…
as Dao companions, there aren’t so many rules…”
