Immortal Father -
Chapter 439 - 439 158 Knocking and Knocking
439: Chapter 158 Knocking and Knocking 439: Chapter 158 Knocking and Knocking Sunshine, beach, no bikinis.
Within the immortal power barrier enveloping the eastern beach of Dong’an City, Li Ping’an unbuttoned his inner jacket, holding a scripture in hand, contemplating three critical questions.
These three questions were quite crucial.
The first was naturally his current major concern; having his sword sharpened to its finest, how he should deal with Forge-Heaven Gate and its powerful backing.
He couldn’t just take the token from the Yellow Emperor to Forge-Heaven Gate and demand their account books.
The second question was naturally his father’s tribulation.
Although telling his father about such matters had greatly relieved Li Ping’an’s Dao heart, there had been no changes to his father’s tribulation since the destruction of Blood Fiend Hall.
This issue was actually more pressing, but compared to dealing with Forge-Heaven Gate, this one left Li Ping’an even more clueless.
He couldn’t even deduce what had triggered his father’s tribulation, and could only guess it was related to Demon Cultivators or demonic beings.
‘Could the Colorful Python that appeared last time be the key to this situation?’
Li Ping’an was at a loss.
The third question was more urgent.
Li Ping’an looked up at his junior sister, who stood barefoot on the edge of the waves in a pink dress as if about to ride the wind away, and he pondered deeply in his heart.
He and that Sun Yingying had agreed to retrieve some information today.
This was a matter of business; he provided Spirit Stones, and the other party provided the information—it was all legitimate business, and he didn’t even have to show his true face to do it.
Yet, deep down, he felt inexplicably uneasy.
‘Does Sun Yingying really have feelings for me?
Or is she merely jesting, as she’s a brothel madam who has seen much of the affairs between men and women, thus treats such matters nonchalantly?’
Li Ping’an sighed deeply and slumped into his chair.
The key to deal with Forge-Heaven Gate, the cause of his father’s tribulation, that troublesome Sun Yingying…
A white figure drifted by like a tuft of cotton.
Qing Su, dressed in a loose white gown, seated herself next to Li Ping’an’s sun lounger and picked up a jug of Immortal Fruit brew from an ice bucket nearby.
“Are you worried?”
“Master, have you already tried all the fresh food in Dong’an City?”
“They’re more or less the same.”
Qing Su took a sip of the fruit brew, slightly stretched her body, and watched Wen Ling, who was busy burying a little White Tiger, her gaze somewhat distant.
She said, “They seem so at ease.”
“Who?
Wen Ling?”
Li Ping’an continued flipping through the scripture, smiling:
“Although she’s carefree, she doesn’t have much power to maintain such ease.
It’s only because of Master’s protection that she can enjoy such freedom.
“Did you feel tired at the Eastern Alliance meeting, Master?”
“No, Wen Rou will take me to play and see the sights.”
Qing Su closed her eyes to rest, her voice becoming much softer:
“But sometimes I think, since I have accepted the offerings from the Eastern Alliance, I ought to do something for them.
Playing around every day seems a bit too idle.”
Li Ping’an laughed: “Isn’t it nice to have some leisure?
On your next trip to the Eastern Alliance, why not take Wen Ling with you?
Let her look after the White Tiger for me; it might still be a few years before it fully grows.”
“Alright,” Qing Su glanced at him, “I heard from your Uncle Qing Xu that you have been recruiting Immortal Soldiers?
Why not recruit women as well?”
Li Ping’an replied: “These are simply the rules of the Eastern Alliance.”
Qing Su hummed softly: “But there are quite a few female soldiers within the Eastern Alliance, and all are cultivators—it’s not that women are necessarily inferior to men.”
“Although that might be true,”
Li Ping’an motioned toward Ningning Mu, who was playing in the water:
“If I don’t set restrictions, Ningning would likely want to go too, and I would be unable to refuse her if she asked.
The Eastern Alliance will soon use troops against the Western Continent, and I don’t want Ningning on the battlefield.”
Qing Su looked puzzled: “Why not?”
“It’s a personal issue,” Li Ping’an smiled with his eyes narrowed, “Sending a woman one cares for to the battlefield feels awkward in the heart.”
After pondering carefully, Qing Su said: “I see.
Have you asked Ningning about it?”
“It’s not exactly easy to bring it up.”
Li Ping’an laughed: “Is it Uncle Qing Xu who’s looking for you?”
“Yes,” Qing Su nodded slightly, “Caiyun Peak wants to pull strings with you; they insist that if you need three Disciples to follow orders, then at least one must be from Caiyun Peak.”
Li Ping’an was truly in a quandary.
If he let a female Disciple from Caiyun Peak join them but not let Ningning go, would Ningning be happy?
But he was also a Disciple of Caiyun Peak, and since Caiyun Peak was considered a ‘pillar’ of the sect, he couldn’t completely disregard its wishes.
Little did he expect that even such a minor matter could entail so many considerations.
Yet, if in the future he really had to take his junior sister to the battlefield…
Li Ping’an admitted he was a bit chauvinistic, but he genuinely did not want to expose someone he should protect to such dangers.
Li Ping’an sighed: “All right, I’ll talk to Ningning about it.”
“Brother!”
Ningning Mu suddenly turned around and looked over, her eyes gazing at him from dozens of yards away.
As if their hearts resonated, they both understood something.
Ningning Mu raised her hand to smooth the hair by her ear and softly said, “I want to go into seclusion within the sect to break through to the Immortal realm.
If you become an Immortal before I do, then I win, how about that?”
Li Ping’an felt a stir in his Dao heart, momentarily struggling with a response, he could only nod in agreement.
Qing Su pulled out a scripture and began to read softly: “Then I’ll go back and tell Qing Xu about it and have them arrange a powerful Primordial Immortal.”
“Hmm,” Li Ping’an nodded slowly, “It’s up to Master to arrange it; let’s set out for the Eastern Alliance in three days.”
“You handle it.”
Qing Su raised her hand to rub her flat belly and frowned as she muttered:
“Had I known we wouldn’t be leaving for three days, I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry.”
Li Ping’an: …
Luckily, Heavenly Immortals don’t get fat.
…
Eastern Alliance, Zhengtian Hall.
Old Tianli, with his hands clasped behind his back, humming a tune, entered the great hall in high spirits.
