287: Chapter 108 Wanyun’s Sublimation!_2 287: Chapter 108 Wanyun’s Sublimation!_2 Niu Qi couldn’t figure out whether his words were meant to provoke Li Jing intentionally or to persuade him to realize his mistakes and turn back.
Putting on an act of nonchalance, Niu Qi whistled and, putting his hands behind his head like a pillow, hopped backward off the cloud platform.
Li Jing, however, seemed stunned, his lips trembling slightly as he sat on the cloud platform, gazing at the small courtyard of the Liuyun Hall.
In his vision, the world seemed to lose all its color, the courtyard transforming into an ink painting.
The young Daoist sat at the deepest part of the picture, with a smile on his lips, a natural demeanor, his long hair gently swaying with the breeze, his green robe’s sleeves and hem wavering slightly.
Li Jing sat like this for several days and nights.
A glimmer of immortal light appeared in his gaze.
A Heavenly Immortal Elder awoke from his meditation, rose to his feet, and showed deep respect to the image in front of the Holy Mother and the young Daoist, then hurriedly flew back to his cave to continue his secluded cultivation.
In succession, True Immortals and other Immortals awoke from their meditations, each getting up and paying their respects to the young Daoist before hurrying back to their dwellings.
Gradually, more Daoists in the courtyard rose to their feet.
A few Heavenly Immortals appeared on either side of the Holy Mother’s image, conjuring a barrier of immortal power, enveloping Li Ping’an who was immersed in enlightenment.
An elder transmitted his voice outside the courtyard:
“Li Ping’an’s discourse this time is a secret of the Wanyun Sect, not to be mentioned to outsiders.
“The Sect Leader has said that during Li Ping’an’s discourse, his own enlightenment triggered the source of the Sect’s cultivation, resonating with The Great Dao, allowing an ancient Great Power to speak through Li Ping’an, expounding the Dao of Clouds, which is a blessing Li Ping’an has bestowed on the Wanyun Sect.
“You all should focus peacefully on your cultivation.”
The young Li Jing sighed dejectedly, slowly got up, and showed deep respect toward the direction of the Holy Mother’s image.
As he turned to leave, he heard a chuckle.
Elder Yansheng came, hands clasped behind his back, the long-stemmed pipe still wafting faint smoke.
He said, “Li Jing?
Have you made up your mind?
Would you like to take this poor Daoist as your master?”
The young Li Jing paused, turning to look at the old Daoist behind him, and seeing his gentle smile and his kindly old eyes, couldn’t help but feel tears welling in his eyes.
Li Jing turned around and knelt down, bowing his head in worship to Elder Yansheng.
“Disciple, begs for the grace of the master!
Wishing to follow the master in cultivation!”
“Good.”
Elder Yansheng bent down, helped Li Jing to his feet, and looked at the young man who now stood half a head taller than himself, gently patting his shoulder.
Elder Yansheng said, “First return to the outer sect for cultivation.
Once affairs here are settled, I will come to take you to the main peak.”
“Yes, thank you, teacher!
The disciple has been quite stubborn before…”
“That’s all in the past, no need to mention it again.”
Elder Yansheng waved his hand, and Li Jing’s figure drifted away behind the cloud platform.
Outside the Liuyun Hall, several Heavenly Immortals who had been in seclusion were now hurrying over.
Unfortunately, Yun Zhongzi’s lecture had already ended and Li Ping’an had himself entered a state of enlightenment.
What these Heavenly Immortals missed out on was far more than a mere opportunity.
…
After one discourse, more than twelve hundred immortals of the Wanyun Sect announced their seclusion.
The Sect Leader Yun Mo Daoist, along with seven or eight of the eldest elders, began their seclusion to break through to the Golden Immortal Realm.
Thirty-six Peak Masters and more than twenty inner sect elders announced their seclusion for periods ranging from three to ten years.
The entire outer sect nearly ground to a halt.
Fortunately, Elder Yansheng, who had just had a breakthrough not long ago, and a group of outer sect elders whose bottlenecks were too solid, did not seclude themselves, and the ordinary stewards below the level of Primordial Immortal had less opportunity for enlightenment.
After several reallocations, the secluded disciples were not affected, and the outer sect and Castcloud Hall continued to operate normally, only slightly understaffed.
The influence of Yun Zhongzi’s lecture on the Wanyun Sect was undoubtedly profound.
This impact was not only about the short-term modest elevation of the Dao Realm of a large number of immortals, but more importantly, it ‘upgraded’ the legacy of Dao of the Wanyun Sect.
As Grandmothers Linghua and Yun Ting, the two Golden Immortals of the Wanyun Sect, directly went into seclusion, Daoist Kongming temporarily suppressed the insights in his heart and began reorganizing his “Wanyun Jue.”
The Dao legacy of the Wanyun Sect had originally stemmed from a scripture that Yun Zhongzi casually gave to Daoist Kongming.
Now, Yun Zhongzi had personally passed down his Dao legacy, and it was the exposition of the original Great Dao of Clouds.
From this day forward, the Wanyun Sect possessed the substantial strength to rank amongst the top Immortal Sects of the East Continent!
If Yun Zhongzi’s lecture allowed even one of those peak Heavenly Immortals to step into the Golden Immortal Realm, the entire strength of the Wanyun Sect would leap forward tremendously.
This made Daoist Kongming quite emotional, his zeal for the Dao growing stronger.
If things continued in this manner,
his chances of inscribing his name on the Merits Wall of the Nuwa Palace had greatly increased!
Although the Wanyun Sect had closed its mountain gates and kept the news under wraps, the fact that ‘a sect lecture by a nearly-Immortal enabled the guidance of several hundred True and Heavenly Immortals’ nevertheless spread through the lands of the East Continent.
There was no helping it; ever since Castcloud Hall was established, the outer sect had become infiltrated with spies from other sects.
The leaderboard of near-Immortal achievements was once again updated, and many immortals from friendly sects now wanted to flock to the Wanyun Sect to freeload meals, drinks, and enlightenment.
For a Qi Cultivator, improving the Dao Realm is always of the utmost importance;
The ‘Dharma’ from the fourfold monastic code of Dharma, Wealth, Companion, and Land had always been the most important.
Li Ping’an sat beneath the Holy Mother’s image for a month, and when he awoke, his Primordial Spirit was full and radiant like jade, with blue clouds spread over the spiritual platform.
‘Strange, why can’t I become an Immortal?’ he wondered.
Li Ping’an looked up and saw the golden clouds that were being quickly shrouded by the blue clouds, yet they still guarded their domain fiercely.
This annoying Heavenly Dao, why won’t it let him go?
Li Ping’an pondered deeply and realized that he must have been suppressed by the Heavenly Dao; possessing enlightenment but unable to translate it into a solid Dao Realm, his communication with heaven and earth was obstructed by the Heavenly Dao, preventing him from anchoring his own Dao between heaven and earth, and hence he could not become an Immortal.
