“I guess their original intention was probably to make the Immortals at the border rescue the mortals captured by the Demon Race, who were destined to be devoured by demons; might as well send them to the Southern Continent as sacrifices.”

“But after this plan was actually put into action…”

“Who could have expected that the border Immortals would join hands with the Demon Race to snatch the treasures from the Nuwa Palace.”

“Heaven’s calamities can be punished by men.”

“But men’s calamities, who can punish?”

The two Golden Immortals fell into silence, each lost in thought.

The room sank into a kind of stifling atmosphere.

Old Man Tianli looked up at Li Ping’an, a flash of light crossed his eyes as he said firmly, “Ping…”

Suddenly, Granny Linghua pressed down on Old Man Tianli’s arm.

She pointed at Li Ping’an, and Old Man Tianli frowned and looked over, only to see that although Li Ping’an appeared to have his eyes open, there was no spirit in them.

Waves of Dao Charm slowly emanated from around Li Ping’an.

Even for someone as experienced as Old Man Tianli, he couldn’t help but be dumbfounded: “He can break through even now?”

“Suppress your aura, don’t disturb him.

Look closely, uncle, this Dao Charm seems somewhat unnatural.”

The two Golden Immortals nodded to each other.

The breakthrough that Li Ping’an had been anxiously awaiting for three years finally came at this moment.

Heaven’s calamities can be punished by men.

But men’s calamities, who can punish?

As Li Ping’an recited these twelve characters, his Dao heart felt as if it had been tightly clenched, and before his eyes, countless stars seemed to twinkle.

His Dao Body was like earthen stone, his Primordial Soul like clay sculpture.

A glimmer of light flashed by.

Tiny cracks appeared on his Primordial Soul from top to bottom, and dust continuously fell off, vanishing into the invisible.

Li Ping’an felt as if he had lost his Dao Body, left only with an intangible shadow; under his feet, a rainbow-hued Immortal Path appeared, sliding behind him as if he were walking forward.

Suddenly, shouts and battle cries filled his ears.

Li Ping’an turned his head to the left, seeing what seemed to be two ‘tsunamis’ colliding fiercely with one another.

It wasn’t any tsunamis.

It was countless beings, mutually slaughtering each other from the sky to the ground.

Where the Human Emperor’s chariot, drawn by nine dragons, pointed, the Human Race Qi Cultivators swept through the remnants of the Hundred Clans, while the King riding on the back of a giant bear howled in defiance.

As this scene disappeared, more divine light enveloped him from up ahead.

It was as if Li Ping’an was walking forward, yet as if the path receded behind him.

Three scenes emerged in succession:

Shennong tasting herbs, Fuxi interpreting the eight trigrams, Suiren drilling wood to make fire.

Did these signify the road to the rise of the Human Race?

Just as this thought surfaced in Li Ping’an’s heart, the path below brought forth a new scene.

In an exceptionally ornate cloud palace, the Heavenly Emperor, dressed in a golden robe, reclined on his throne petting the fiery feathers of a Golden Crow.

Endless starry space manifested behind the Heavenly Emperor, his Primordial Spirit seemed to traverse freely among the stars, exploring the secrets of the stars and comprehending the ultimate truths of the universe.

Emperor Jun?

This scene swept by.

Again, three scenes followed:

Nuwa creating mankind, the summit of Mount Buzhou with the Hundred Clans establishing the Heavenly Court, the chaotic battles of the Hundred Clans.

All the scenes were arranged in reverse to the chronological order of these events.

Li Ping’an took a step forward voluntarily and saw another scene unfold.

A sprawling azure dragon spanning tens of thousands of miles coiled in the heavens, gazing down; a huge phoenix lay prostrate on the earth below, as if a great battle was about to unfold between the two.

The path abruptly ended.

Ahead lay a cluster of misty, rainbow-colored fairy mist.

Within the mist, four vertical lines of large characters slowly condensed:

[Heaven’s calamities can be punished by men;]

[But men’s calamities, who can punish?]

[The Way of Humanity is flourishing, the Heavenly Dao is withering, the balance between heaven and earth is lost, the ultimate calamity is inevitable.]

[Heaven and earth need laws, all beings require constraints.]

Li Ping’an’s Dao Heart echoed with a booming thunder.

He suddenly took a half step back and said loudly, “Who is here?

My path is mine to determine, mine to seek!”

The Immortal Qi kept stirring and then condensed into four lines of large characters:

[This place is indeed your Dao Heart.]

[Your Dao is the order your heart aspires to.]

[Though you are not a born creature of this world, you are yet a creature of this world.]

[Face your true heart today, may you wield the heavenly punishment one day.]

“Hah.”

Li Ping’an suddenly laughed and, with his phantom-like figure, bowed to the cloud of Immortal Qi, smiling, “Could it be the Heavenly Dao here?”

No response came from ahead.

Li Ping’an muttered,

“I was saying, when others practice cultivation, they cultivate the natural Great Dao, so why, when it comes to me, even the Path of Clouds cannot be relied upon for becoming an Immortal, even though so many have succeeded.”

“When did Your Excellency start to notice me?”

“What is there about me that is exceptional enough to come to Your Excellency’s attention?”

“I’m just an ordinary Qi Cultivator, merely aspirating to Immortality and enlightenment, with no grand ambition to right the heavens and the earth, I kindly ask the Heavenly Dao to find someone more capable.”

Once again, the light of the Immortal Qi encircled around:

[I am not the spirit of the Heavenly Dao, I’m simply your true heart.]

[The Heavenly Dao was born in the middle of antiquity, it is for order, for creation and cessation, for reality and illusion.

The concept of the Heavenly Dao is just a perception of your own, the true Heavenly Dao is in fact an order will that is produced by the resonance of the three thousand Great Daos, heaven and earth, and all beings, not simply something that can be encompassed by a mere spirit.]

[I am just your Dao Heart, ever since you faced Yun Zhongzi, this kind of thought has been with your Dao Heart.]

[Your bottleneck is merely you avoiding your own Great Dao.]

“Sorry, I don’t have a split personality; my Dao Heart is the only one, and it wouldn’t speak to me with such words.”

Li Ping’an shook his head and made another respectful bow toward the Immortal Clouds in front of him.

The heavens do not take offense to being over-venerated.

“Whether what you say is true or false, at this moment, I am not in a position to make a decision.

“Having formed my Primordial Spirit today, henceforth, I will continue to comprehend the three thousand Great Daos with this Primordial Spirit.”

Having spoken, Li Ping’an turned around, his back to the Immortal Light, and took a deep breath.

No more Immortal Light formed the path of stars under his feet, all around him was darkness, but ahead, there was a faintly discernible outline of a grand door.

Li Ping’an murmured,

“When I can distinguish whether this is an attempt by the Heavenly Dao to revive within me, or if I truly wish to construct a new order, I will return to this place myself.

“But now, I cannot grasp, control, or even discern this path.

“Therefore, I shall not walk this path.

“Having formed my Primordial Spirit today, if the Path of Clouds is insufficient, I can supplement it with other Dao practices.

Ascension to Immortality is but a sublimation of the state of life, any of the three thousand Great Daos can lead to becoming a Daluo Golden Immortal.

“Therefore, any and all Daos can be my Dao.

“Even if rejecting Your Excellency may make my path as a Qi Cultivator much more difficult, but it is a journey I can control myself, and not…

be tempted by an outside will claiming to be my Dao Heart here.”

“If my words have offended, I ask for your generous forgiveness.

“Control over heavenly punishment is not my desire, all I seek is a carefree heart at peace.”

Having spoken, Li Ping’an swept his sleeves, his gaze firm as he took a step forward.

In the main hall.

Li Ping’an opened his eyes, a streak of golden light flashing within them, his aura slowly rising.

A blue cloud rose slowly from behind him, then enveloped him completely.

The Primordial Spirit was formed.

From hence!

He would step onto the bridge of heaven and earth, gazing toward the realm of the Immortals!

Before him, the two Human Race Golden Immortals showed continuous surprise in their eyes.
