Chapter 1289: Chapter 461: The Father of the Divine King_2

“Azhi.”

The beard of the Divine King Shaohao trembled slightly.

Li Ping’an spoke softly:

“The last time my true form came, you responded with divine thunder. I also considered judging you for the crime of defiance, but I truly couldn’t bear it in my heart, so I met you in the form of the Mysterious Tortoise.”

“Azhi, have you forgotten the happenings of ancient times?”

The Divine King Shaohao looked down at Li Ping’an, murmuring softly: “Who am I, where did I come from, and where should I go? I am the lord of the divine court… I am also the ruler of all under heaven…”

Li Ping’an earnestly said: “It is because you are the ruler of all under heaven, remembered and worshiped by people, that you became a god, the lord of the divine court. Azhi, have you forgotten all that?”

The gaze of the Divine King Shaohao gradually became clear, and he smiled subconsciously, as the longsword in his hand dissipated into golden light.

“So I am still myself.”

“That’s right, you are still you,” Li Ping’an dissipated the thunder spear in his hand.

“I understand now,” the Divine King Shaohao slowly bowed his head in salute, “Father… why do you take action against the gods?”

In the corner of the Temple of Nuwa.

The corner of Xuanyuan Huangdi’s mouth twitched, he looked up to the sky and sighed deeply, choking with emotion.

Guilingling tilted her head to think, then burst out laughing, only to be silenced by Qing Su who held her small mouth shut.

The head attendant sighed lightly: “His Majesty the Heavenly Emperor is truly… wise and powerful, astonishingly intelligent, effortlessly mastering the situation.”

Xuanyuan Huangdi turned his head to look aside.

Li Ping’an continued: “It’s not that I want to take action against you, but look at the current state of the divine court yourselves.”

Li Ping’an leaped up, jumped to the front of the divine court, and threw a gray-robed deity he was holding onto before Shaohao.

Li Ping’an’s eyes were fierce, his entire being exuding an intense aura of oppression.

The gods dared not meet his gaze.

Li Ping’an said calmly:

“What defines a god? Gods are born from the worship of all beings, manifestations born from the Heavenly Dao responding to their prayers.”

“Which among you deities was not a sage of the mortal world, or a person of renown in the mortal world?”

“But what are you doing now?”

“Have you truly contributed to the mortal world, other than allowing those shamans to sacrifice lives? Do you know that Holy Mother Nuwa utterly detests human sacrifices and has contemplated wiping out the entire mortal world with a great flood several times.”

“The reason I come here is just to tell you.”

“Being a god is not something you can do just because you want to; if you’re unwilling, I can personally obliterate you, even if it means bringing calamities to the mortal world.”

Several hot-tempered deities glared angrily at Li Ping’an.

Purple lightning burst forth from Li Ping’an’s eyes, and a golden phoenix silhouette appeared behind him, his body radiating strong oppression mixed with the power of the divine court and the might of the Heavenly Dao, causing those deities to instinctively avoid his gaze.

“Hmph!”

Li Ping’an raised his head and said:

“Azhi, because you are my eldest son, I am giving you an opportunity. I will wait in the Temple of Nuwa.

“Establish divine rules to restrain the gods, cease human sacrifices.

“I only give you this one opportunity. Gods are merely vessels of prayer; if you’re unwilling to do it, there are plenty of heroic spirits from the Human Race who can.”

Having said that, Li Ping’an snorted coldly and pointed a finger at a corner of the divine court.

The divine court shook, and that corner of the flying eaves exploded directly, causing earthquakes in multiple mountains of the Southern Continent, resulting in the collapse of several mountains and numerous casualties.

Startled in his heart, Li Ping’an quickly withdrew his hand.

He had only intended to exert oppression, not expecting the divine court to be such a fragile golden lump, untouchable.

Nevertheless, he couldn’t show any oddity at this moment, casting a knowing glance at the Divine King Shaohao before turning and leaping down.

Golden lights rose around the Temple of Nuwa.

The gods hurried back to the divine court.

The clouds above quickly dispersed, clearly showing some urgency in the gods’ retreat.

Li Ping’an landed on the rooftop of the Temple of Nuwa, casually pointing at a piece of white cloud. He fashioned a low table and meditation mat from the cloud mist, sitting calmly upon it, casting a sidelong glance at the divine court high in the sky.

Within the divine court, the gods convened, seemingly beginning some sort of discussion.

With a smile on the corner of his mouth, Li Ping’an propped his head with his left hand, as if falling asleep, his figure gradually fading away on the rooftop, slowly disappearing.

No one knows who exclaimed:

“The Great Mysterious Tortoise is the father of the deities!”

Inside and outside the Temple of Nuwa, voices surged, as large numbers of mortals bowed towards the direction of the Mysterious Tortoise statue.

Outside the Temple of Nuwa, more and more mortals hurried to inquire, as this expansive Imperial Capital continuously poured out millions upon millions of mortals.

No one cared that six or seven of the nine great shamans had died;

The carriage of Prince Zi Lian had to detour through the east gate to return to the Royal Palace, a journey that took three extra hours.

As for Hao Xiaonian, she had already received a voice transmission from Li Ping’an and was currently sitting in front of the Mysterious Tortoise statue, removing her shaman mask, bestowing blessings upon the mortals repeatedly.

Li Ping’an set up a simple spiritual power restriction for Hao Xiaonian.

As long as she blessed the mortals, strands of spiritual power would enter the bodies of the mortals before her, healing them if they were sick, or strengthening their bodies if they weren’t.

Nothing more than a slight reward for Hao Xiaonian for her courage—the child had indeed shown great bravery and was quite commendable.

Li Ping’an smiled, returning to Xuanyuan Huangdi’s side, cupping his hand in obeisance repeatedly.

Green mountains, white clouds, a turquoise pool.

Li Ping’an and his group had found a wilderness spot outside the Temple of Nuwa, set up a few layers of barriers, caught some game, and held a small celebration banquet.

Xuanyuan Huangdi marveled: “It had to be you; despite all our preparations, not a single one was needed.”

Qing Su defended Li Ping’an: “Isn’t it better that they weren’t needed? It saved us the effort.”

Li Ping’an squinted with a smile: “I didn’t expect the great shaman’s usefulness; the Mysterious Tortoise has gathered enough incense merit to reach the standard of becoming a deity of the Southern Continent. With just one prayer dance from Hao Xiaonian, the Mysterious Tortoise ascended directly to the divine court as a new god.”
