If You Could Hear My Heart -
Chapter 1214: Don’t Think About Talking to Me Alive Again
Chapter 1214: Chapter 1214: Don’t Think About Talking to Me Alive Again
Shen Shihan probably knew the ins and outs of the Shen Group like the back of his hand.
Shen Chi’s car hadn’t been parked outside for long when Shen Shihan saw it. He stood up and said to Mo Shuifu, "I’m going out to make a call."
Mo Shuifu hadn’t noticed Shen Chi. She was busy teaching some children how to play a game.
"Okay." Mo Shuifu smiled slightly.
Dressed in a black and white checked coat, Mo Shuifu looked elegant and beautiful, quite matching the man beside her, Shen Shihan.
Shen Shihan also cracked a smile and then walked outside.
Shen Chi was leaning on the car, a cigarette between his fingers.
The window was half-open, and as soon as Shen Shihan stepped out, he saw Shen Chi sitting in the driver’s seat.
Shen Chi must have parked here to wait for him.
Shen Shihan walked over to the car, hands in his pockets, and casually said, "Fourth brother, long time no see."
"Third brother is a busy man. It’s normal not to see me," Shen Chi exhaled a puff of smoke, his tone indifferent.
Shen Shihan chuckled softly, "Fourth brother, are you here to see me?"
"It’s been a while, I don’t even know what you’re up to. Get in the car?" Shen Chi gave Shen Shihan a cold glare, but although his eyes were cold, his composure remained.
"Sure."
Shen Shihan opened the passenger’s door and got in.
As soon as the car door closed, Shen Chi suddenly hit the gas and sped the car away!
The road wasn’t wide, but it wasn’t crowded either. With excellent driving skills, Shen Chi raced around the people and drove to a desolate place.
"You have guts, third brother, daring to ride in my car. Aren’t you afraid that I might shoot you dead here in the middle of nowhere?"
Shen Chi stopped the car and turned his head, giving Shen Shihan a cold look.
"You have guts too, driving at such a speed," Shen Shihan quipped back, sidestepping Shen Chi’s remark.
The swift ride had unsettled Shen Shihan’s stomach a bit, and Shen Chi himself wasn’t feeling much better.
Both men’s gazes were wolf-like, dark and cold, neither yielding to the other.
"Third brother seems very happy with his family, oblivious to the world," Shen Chi mocked.
"Are you envious of me? Speaking of which, I think people might envy you even more," Shen Shihan remarked.
"Shen Shihan," Shen Chi suddenly called out his name sharply and looked at him coldly, "Aren’t you afraid of what I might do to Mo Shuifu?"
Shen Shihan scoffed, "You’re joking, fourth brother."
Shen Shihan knew Shen Chi’s character too well; he wasn’t the type to do such things.
"Shen Shihan, your plan this time is meticulous and ruthless," with the last two words, Shen Chi intentionally emphasized his tone.
"In terms of ruthlessness, no one can compare to you, fourth brother," Shen Shihan responded calmly, "Do you have something important you want to say to me?"
"Aren’t you going to clarify things to the police and shareholders?"
"Clarify what?" Shen Shihan looked at Shen Chi indifferently, "Oh, these matters have nothing to do with me."
"That’s quite shameless of you."
"Business interests, you should understand them better than me, fourth brother."
"Have you ever thought about the consequences of your actions? Are you being fair to the woman who has always been by your side?" Shen Chi said.
"It seems that’s not for you to worry about, fourth brother. It seems you haven’t been treating the woman by your side well either, have you?" Shen Shihan retorted.
"Speaking of which, I must remind you again, Brother, if you dare involve Chaomu in our competition again, I won’t spare you."
"Why shouldn’t I involve her? It seems... it would be more effective?" Shen Shihan purposefully provoked Shen Chi.
Indeed, Shen Chi’s eyes darkened, and the next second, he pulled out a handgun from beneath his seat!
The handgun was precisely aimed at Shen Shihan’s temple, leaving no 0.01 seconds for Shen Shihan to react!
"If you dare touch her, next time, you won’t live to talk to me again!" Shen Chi’s finger was on the trigger, ready to pull, and Shen Shihan would be dead immediately.
Yet, Shen Shihan appeared fearless, his face unchanged.
He simply pushed Shen Chi’s gun away with his hand, smiling, "Killing someone requires paying with your own life."
"I don’t mind trying it out," Shen Chi said coldly.
"Brother, compared to me hurting her, it seems you hurt her even deeper," Shen Shihan remarked nonchalantly.
Ever since the accident six years ago, he, Shen Shihan, would no longer lay a finger on Xu Chaomu.
It was Shen Chi, however, who seemed not to have given Xu Chaomu peace of mind.
"That’s between her and me, you, Shen Shihan, have no right to interfere."
"I may not have the right to interfere, but can you assure that she will come back to you?" Shen Shihan looked at him. "Don’t forget, you grew up with her, and so did I. We both know her personality too well."
Shen Chi felt a twinge in his chest, indeed, they both knew her character all too well.
Shen Chi lowered his hand, his gaze somewhat elusive.
"Brother, in love, we are both not smart. Thus, clumsy people need to be more heartfelt," Shen Shihan said lightly.
Shen Chi remained silent, not speaking again.
It was rare for him to discuss Xu Chaomu so openly with Shen Shihan. Yes, Shen Shihan was right; they were not smart.
"Brother, it’s hard to catch a ride here in the wilderness, why don’t you drive me back?" Shen Shihan suggested.
He had noticed the change in Shen Chi’s expression; it was only when Xu Chaomu was mentioned that Shen Chi showed such distinct emotions.
He knew Shen Chi truly loved Xu Chaomu, but their love was like thin ice, easy to break with any slight mishap.
"Shen Shihan, let’s be clear, you’re not allowed to touch Xu Chaomu," Shen Chi said. "As for the company issues, I will settle the score with you."
"President Shen, it’s getting late. If you don’t go back to handle things, Shen’s news will cover the media by tomorrow," Shen Shihan said.
Shen Chi kept a stern face and said nothing more.
He turned the car around and drove out from the wilderness.
Xiao Mo had already dealt with the reporters, but the impact of this incident was significant.
Some bystanders still managed to take photos and posted them online; the spread was too fast to control.
Moreover, Xiao Mo had discovered that it was not Shen Shihan but people from the Feili Group who had spread the news.
Currently, Nie Chenglang was in charge of Feili Group, and Xiao Mo was unsure whether it was Nie Chenglang’s or Lu Feili’s intention.
The news was unstoppable by then, and a day later, Xu Chaomu, far away in Jin City, saw it.
Xu Chaomu wasn’t concerned, this kind of crisis public relations was something Shen Group was adept at handling.
However, Xiaobao had contracted a cold these days, was unwell, and was not as lively as usual.
Xiaobao sat quietly in the crib, playing by himself, ignoring Xu Chaomu when she tried to talk to him.
The weather had been too chilly these days, and Xu Chaomu dared not let Xiaobao go outside, yet he still caught a cold.
Having no choice, Xu Chaomu took a few days off to take Xiaobao to the doctor in the city.
When Xiaobao was sick, he refused to eat, sometimes just lying motionlessly in Xu Chaomu’s arms.
