I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 83: Confrontation

Chapter 83: Confrontation

Felix paced around the house, trying to calm down. Kade would be here any minute. He had rehearsed what to say at least a thousand times in his head, considering different scenarios. Vivi was left with Brielle, safe and sound, so that she wouldn’t be swept in the upcoming emotional pheromone storm. Remi was hidden under the couch, concealing his presence to hide from Kade, but he was there, Felix knew he was. And his calming, jasmine fragrance still remained, softly wafting in the air. Felix took a deep breath, taking it in...

But it was no use. No matter how well he was prepared, it was still a dangerous situation, potentially even deadly... Although Felix didn’t think that Kade was that kind of person, who would kill him for not submitting to him, it’s not like he knew him all that well, so he couldn’t completely exclude such a possibility. Besides, other than that, there were also other risks - for example, he could release his pheromones to subdue Felix, and take him by force...

That’s where Remi came in. In case Kade were to actually try to hurt Felix in any way, Remi would step in to help. That’s what they had discussed... Or, well, what Felix had asked for, to be precise. He never got any verbal answer, since he had only talked to Remi in his fox form, but Remi seemed to agree to help him...

"...Ugh." Felix stopped, rubbing his aching temples. His head hurt, and his stomach was queasy... With so many uncertainties, it was simply impossible for him not to turn into one big bundle of nerves...

And then, Kade’s car parked in front of the house, and Felix’s heart almost came to a stop.

Still, he bit on his lip, suppressing the shaking of his hands, and opened the door. "Come in," he said curtly, his voice sounding much weaker than he wanted it to.

Kade naturally picked up on that, and was immediately alerted. "How’s Vivi?" he asked, suspecting there might be something wrong with the pup, based on Felix’s uneasy expression.

However, that wasn’t it.

"She’s fine. One of my friends is taking care of her now. Let’s... Let’s sit down first."

"Oh... Alright." Kade followed Felix in, taking a seat opposite him by the kitchen table. There were no drinks or snacks, or anything, but if the Omega didn’t offer, then Kade wouldn’t ask. At least not now, when the mood was so serious and tense...

For a long while, they remained silent. Kade observing Felix, while Felix fidgeting with his hands, his head lowered and eyes glued to the table. Although he had the conversation planned, all of a sudden, he seemed to have completely forgotten what he was going to say...

"Let’s break up," were the first words that finally made it past his throat.

...That was not what he was meant to say.

To begin with, they were never together or anything. They had the fated mate bond between them, yes, but that was about it. Werewolves didn’t date in the same way that humans did to begin with. Of course, Kade still understood what Felix meant - not ’break up’, but rather ’break our bond’...

But he still asked, "What?" as if he had no idea.

Because he hoped he had misheard.

Felix pressed his lips together. He wasn’t supposed to drop the bomb right from the start, but rather ease Kade into it, but what was done, was done. His whole plan was already in ruins, and he had no choice but to carry on, improvising a bit.

"I think it’s finally time to break our bond," he repeated slowly, trying to hide the shaking of his voice. "I have given it a lot of thought, and..."

"Wait, wait, wait," Kade rushed to interrupt him. "Didn’t we agree not to discuss it for the next few months?"

"Agree...? Was that really an agreement?" Felix finally lifted his head, looking at the Alpha... Only to avert his eyes again, as he felt a pang in his chest seeing the expression on his face. "It was you just deciding things on your own. I agreed to it back then, because I was pregnant. Although I wanted to break our bond, I was worried how it would affect my pregnancy... Since I’ve heard it can be very painful."

"But why does it have to be now? It’s not like keeping the bond harms you in any way. So why not just let it be for a while longer, give me a chance to win you over..."

"I’m afraid I can’t afford it," Felix’s lips twisted in a bitter smile. "Letting Young Master such as yourself chase after me, waste your time and money on me... It’s a debt I will never be able to pay."

"I’m not doing it so that you will be indebted to me!" Kade abruptly shot up from his seat, slamming his hands on the table as he lost his cool. "I just!"

He paused, noticing Felix’s startled expression. After taking a few deep breaths to calm down, he sat down and continued, in a much more subdued tone, "I just want to take care of you. It’s an Alpha’s natural instinct to take care of their mate..."

It was really just this, nothing more. That’s why he had only ever bought Felix necessities, such as clothes or baby things. Expensive necessities, but still, only things he actually needed. If he wanted to truly flaunt his wealth, then he would have bought the Omega fancy watches or jewelery, or the newest smartphone model, or an expensive laptop... But he didn’t, because he didn’t want to overstep Felix’s boundaries too much for no reason.

And truth be told, Felix understood that much. He knew that all those gifts weren’t necessarily given with bad intentions. However, Kade’s intentions now were one thing... And the resentment he might feel in the future was another.

"Young Master Kade," Felix sighed. "I just don’t want you to waste your efforts on me. Because, you see... I will never accept you, not as long as we remain fated mates."
