I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 36: Dress-up

Chapter 36: Dress-up

"There. See? I’ve told you they would be fine." Felix spread his arms, standing in front of Kade, who made himself comfortable on the sunken old couch.

Kade lifted his gaze from his phone, and his pupils instantly dilated, although it was hard to notice due to how dark his eye color was. For a moment, he just stared at Felix, appreciating the view. Only to mutter, "Just as I thought, my cute little mate looks amazing in the right clothes."

Felix’s pale cheeks flushed lightly from annoyance.

Yes, annoyance. Otherwise? It’s not like he’d admit he was pleased by Kade’s compliment, those emotions were only caused by that damned mate bond! There was no time for him to feel flustered or argue with the ’mate’ thing anyway, because the Alpha had already gotten up from the couch, and moved closer to examine the fit.

And by examine, it meant he grabbed the hem of Felix’s sweater, and attempted to lift it up.

"What are you doing?!" Felix swatted Kade’s hand, and jolted away, hissing like a startled cat. "You pervert!"

"Pervert? I’m innocent here!" Kade raised his hands, palms up. Still, he looked anything but innocent or harmless. "I was only trying to check how the jeans sit on your waist!"

"They sit just fine! I can check that myself! There is no need for you to undress me!"

"Undress you...?" Kade quirked his brow, an amused smile tugging on his lips. "I was just going to lift your sweater up a bit to see your waistline. Not that I would mind you stripping, if that’s what you want, go on, be my guest, but... That wasn’t my intention at all!"

Despite his reassurance, Felix only edged further and further away.

It wasn’t that he didn’t believe Kade. He knew that the Alpha was only checking the clothes (at least for now)... But his waist was the problem! Or, well, his stomach to be precise. No matter how small it was, Felix didn’t want to show it to the Alpha, lest he were to notice something odd! Honestly, at this point, Felix would rather Kade strip his bottoms down instead, as long as he left the top untouched.

"Whatever, just don’t touch me!" he snapped. "Now, I’ve tried on the clothes, and they fit. So, isn’t it time for you to go?"

"Huh? What do you mean?" Kade tilted his head. "There are plenty more clothes left for you to try!"

"What? Why though? We’ve already confirmed you guessed my size right, so what’s the point?"

"Well, the clothes are from different brands! Therefore, they might fit differently."

Felix stared at the Alpha blankly for a moment. Was he really trying to make him try all of the clothes on? If he wanted to play dress-up, there were plenty of such games online! There was no need to get Felix involved!

Still, wanting to be free from the Alpha as soon as possible, he went back to the bathroom without a word of protest, and started going through all the new clothes, putting them on, showing them to Kade, and going back to the bathroom to change again.

"...Say," Kade suddenly spoke, observing Felix as he showed up in yet another outfit, charcoal grey pants and light green sweater. "Why are you scratching your neck so much? We’ve already confirmed you don’t have fleas, so what’s the problem?"

"Ah?" Felix paused, his hand freezing in place. He blinked a few times, then glanced at his hand. It was indeed at his neck, scratching his skin, without him even realizing what he was doing. His neck had been so itchy for... practically weeks now, that he somehow got used to it, but now that he thought about it...

It was weird. He had already treated his bed with some anti bed bug spray, and yet, the itchiness still remained. So, where did it come from?

There was no need to share his concerns with Kade though, so Felix just said, "It’s an allergic reaction."

"Allergic reaction?"

"Well, yeah."

"To what? Hmm, let me guess," Kade tilted his head and rubbed his chin, pretending to ponder over it. "Could it be... that you’re allergic to incredibly handsome and irresistible Alphas?"

...Of course he would. Felix rolled his eyes. "No. To the ANNOYING ones," he deadpanned.

"Phew!" Kade exhaled with relief theatrically, his shoulders and back all slumping forward as if all the tension suddenly left him. "That’s great! Cause for a moment, I was worried you might be allergic to me!"

Felix just stared at him impassively, abstaining from commenting. When he mentioned the annoying Alphas, he precisely had Kade in mind. But that much was obvious, and Kade knew it, even if he pretended not to understand. So why would Felix waste his breath trying to explain something that didn’t need to be explained? No matter what he said, Kade would just twist it around to his benefit anyway!

So instead, he just turned around, and went back to the bathroom, putting on the last remaining sweater and the jacket.

"Alright," he said, showing up in front of Kade again in the new outfit. "That will be everything now. As you have seen, it all fits. So, it is time for you to go!"

"Eeeh? Just like that?" Kade whined. "But the cake..."

"I thought that I’ve already made it clear that since it’s mine now, I’m going to eat it alone!"

"Well, but we can trade. If you let me have a piece, I will bring you something more up to your taste tomorrow," Kade suggested, but Felix instantly shut him down.

"Thanks, but no thanks!"

Even if he’d rather have something different to eat, a cake was still acceptable. Much better than giving Kade an opportunity to come bother him again!

"Are you sure about it? I could bring you-"

"Absolutely sure!" Felix pushed Kade’s back toward the door, not letting the man finish. He didn’t want to even hear what the Alpha was planning to suggest, lest he might get tempted! "I have already accepted the cake as your apology, so I won’t make an issue out of it!"

"But..." Kade wanted to argue some more, but he was already pushed out of the house.

And once the Alpha was out, Felix immediately shut the door, turning both locks, and fastening the chain. Not that he thought the Alpha might try to break in (at least not right now), he simply felt more at ease with a more solid ’wall’ separating them.

He let out a heavy sigh, and plopped down on the couch. He really needed to stop accepting things from Kade, no matter how desperate he was...
