Chapter 191: Pet Problems
Chapter 191: Pet Problems
"I’ve heard from Kade and Fen that you’ve been raising a pet fox. You didn’t bring it with you?"
Felix’s smile dropped at Cael’s question, and he lowered his head.
The last thing he needed right now was to be reminded of the fox. Yes, he had left Silverfall because of him, because he didn’t know how much he could trust him after finding out the truth... But that didn’t mean he didn’t miss Remi.
He missed that sneaky fox a lot.
Even though it’s only been three days since they last saw each other.
But he couldn’t just return. Not yet, at least. He needed to sort his thoughts and feelings first...
Because if he chose to come back, the future would be difficult. Even now, Felix’s blood only helped Remi transform for longer. But the curse was supposed to get worse with age... His father had died young because of it. What if one day Felix’s blood would no longer be enough? Was he supposed to give up his life then?
He didn’t want Remi to die. Even now, he wouldn’t be able to watch the fox die, let alone in the future, if they had spent a few years together. Felix had already watched his own mother slowly wither away, and he wouldn’t be able to take it the second time...
But he didn’t want to die either. Even if he were willing to trade his life for Remi’s, what about Vivi? He couldn’t possibly leave Vivi behind...
Felix bit his lip. It wasn’t the time to think about that...
He wasn’t the only one who didn’t take Cael’s question nicely. Kade’s face also darkened. Especially after seeing Felix’s reaction...
It was only Cael and Fen who were utterly puzzled, not understanding the sudden change in the mood. It seems that neither of them had been informed about the fox’s identity, not even about the fact that he was a shifter.
In the end, Kade was the one to answer the question.
"It was just a wild fox that sneaked into Felix’s house from time to time, not a truly domesticated pet," he explained, fixing his expression. "He might have gotten used to Felix, but there’s no way he would be comfortable in the Bloodmoon Pack, among so many wolves."
"Huh?" Fen blinked, staring at Kade with confusion. "But back at the hospital..."
He didn’t finish what he wanted to say, because Kade had sent him a warning glare. ’We don’t talk about the fox,’ was written all over his face.
And so, Fen obediently shut up...
...Or not. A sober Fen might have had, but the current Fen was already buzzed, the alcohol making him braver. Not that he would ever be afraid of Kade, not at all, they grew up together, and while Kade was better than him in terms of both strength and status, they treated themselves as equals, and were close confidants. It was practically unheard of for Kade to have a secret he wasn’t willing to share with Fen...
And so, Fen boldly asked, "The fox was so clingy with Felix, so how come- Mmph, mphm!"
Once again, he failed to finish the sentence. However, this time it wasn’t because of Kade’s glare, but rather courtesy of Cael, who covered Fen’s mouth tightly with his hand, giving him a long look which said, ’Read the room!’ Although Fen was clearly displeased by it, he glanced at Kade, then at Felix, back at Kade, and finally let it go. Curious as he was, he wasn’t so dense as not to pick up on the odd atmosphere at all.
Seeing that his cousin finally came back to his senses, Cael let Fen go, and turned back to Felix. "If you like keeping pets, then how about a bunny? We have a domesticated breed at our pack that’s comfortable with werewolves. Kade also has one, did he show him to you yet?"
With the topic of the conversation shifted away from the fox, Felix could exhale with relief. While the thoughts of Remi still weighed heavily on his mind, he forced a smile, and said, "I’ve seen him on photos, yes."
"Just on photos?" Cael lifted his brows. "Do you want to see him?"
"Yeah, sure."
"I’ll get it!" Kade announced suddenly and stood up, albeit a bit unwillingly (he was reluctant to leave Felix’s side), before walking over to the large cage. It was well-arranged, with several small pet houses, and a whole playground prepared for the bunny. Kade had to look around for a while, before he spotted the fluffy white fur ball. He scooped it into his arms, and returned to the sofa, taking a seat next to Felix once again, even closer than before (if it was even possible).
"Felix, meet Felix!" he grinned, pushing the fluff ball in front of Felix.
Felix the bunny gazed at Felix the werewolf with his blue eyes, wriggling his nose. Kade placed the bunny gently on Felix’s (the werewolf) lap, so that Felix (the werewolf) could pet him.
And Felix did. He stroked the bunny’s soft fur softly, as the bunny made himself more comfortable on his lap. It was so warm and cute... Perhaps adopting a bunny wasn’t a bad idea. Maybe. He still had to think about it, though. He already had his pup to take care of, and he still didn’t know what duties or whatnot he might have to fulfill during his stay at the Bloodmoon Pack, so he shouldn’t take upon another responsibility lightly. Besides, as cute as the bunny was, it’s not like it could compare to the fox...
Kade’s smile widened, as he stared at the Omega stroking the bunny. "My Felix is so adorable!"
...Felix’s expression instantly soured. He had almost got used to sharing the name with the bunny and all the ridiculous, ambiguous things Kade said because of it, thanks to all the messages he had received from the Alpha in the past... But hearing it mentioned again, in real life, it was still a bit too much!
And to make it worse, the bunny reacted to hearing his (?) name, and scrambled away from underneath Felix’s hand, hopping onto Kade’s lap. Then, he climbed up his shirt...
Taking a dive underneath his open collar. He then rolled down Kade’s chest, creating a bulge on Kade’s stomach, as he settled himself on Kade’s abs, causing the Alpha to exclaim with delight,
"What a good Felix! That’s exactly where you should climb!"
Felix just stared blankly without a word.
Would he be punished if he were to smack the heir to the pack on the head?
