I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL] -
Chapter 178: Late Night Arrival
Chapter 178: Late Night Arrival
In the end, it was past the checkout time when they had finally left the hotel. The late breakfast had taken a while, after all, and then Felix still wanted to shower... Kade even tried to convince him to take a dip in the hot tub together, but that suggestion had been promptly rejected. Although Felix had also secretly thought it was a bit of a shame - he had never actually had a chance to try a hot tub before... - he didn’t want to inconvenience the hotel workers, or make Kade spend even more than he already had to extend their stay. So, they had left around quarter past 2 PM, with not only the luggage they had brought, but also several boxes of food, which were put in Kade’s car fridge. Felix didn’t want to let all those fancy dishes go to waste, the least he could do was to save them for later!
The road was slow. From the hotel, there were still almost ten hours left of driving ahead of them, and Kade didn’t seem to be in a rush. He didn’t speed up too much, and he took frequent breaks... He was slowing them down on purpose. As a result, it was already way past midnight by the time they finally reached the Bloodmoon Pack.
The majority of the pack members were asleep, and that was precisely the point. Kade wanted to give Felix some time to rest and refresh himself before he would be introduced to all the members of the pack (especially the young Omegas), who still had no idea that someone like him would be arriving. If they were to arrive in the middle of the day, they would undoubtedly attract attention and be swarmed by the curious pack members before they could even reach their floor, let alone hide in their rooms... Arriving at night was much safer.
However, just because it was ’safer’, it didn’t mean that it would be entirely peaceful...
The news about Kade’s return started spreading the moment his car crossed the gate, and the usual hunt for the Young Master Kade began.
...Honestly, Kade was seriously considering replacing the guards at the gate. He should mention it to his father sometime soon. Perhaps if the guards were demoted and punished a few times, they would think twice in the future before releasing such information to their Omega friends!
For now, though, Kade parked the car, and rushed to take Vivi out from her seat before Felix could do it.
"I’ll carry her," he said, pretending not to see Felix’s glare. "She’s my daughter, after all... Don’t worry, she’ll sleep in your room, there’s already a crib prepared!"
Felix hesitated for a moment, but eventually, he let it go. Since Vivi was supposed to be Kade’s daughter from now on, he really shouldn’t stop the Alpha from taking care of her... Otherwise, not only would that risk their cover being blown, but it might also bring him more scorn from the other. After all, it would be unfair for him to separate a father from his daughter, when he’s caring and affectionate, and doesn’t mistreat Vivi at all, no?
"Then, the luggage..." he glanced at the back seat and the trunk, but Kade just waved at him dismissively.
"Don’t worry about it. I’ll have someone bring it all to your room in the morning. There are new clothes and daily necessities all prepared for you, so you don’t need to carry anything..."
Plus, it was better for Felix to have his hands free for... reasons, but Kade didn’t say it out loud.
Anyway, it wouldn’t take long for Felix to find out why.
Sure enough, just as he expected, they ran into the first challenger right before they could even reach the steps to the first mansion. They had barely left the garage, when a young female Omega, wandering around outside in just a skimpy, short nightgown, despite the frigid cold, tripped on... who knows what, and fell forward, straight into Kade’s arms.
Except that this time, Kade didn’t catch her, as he usually would, and instead took a step to the side, dodging the young woman.
He had his ’daughter’ in his arms, after all! How could he still have a free hand to catch falling Omegas? That would be simply too dangerous!
"H-huuh?" The young Omega’s eyes widened, as she suddenly saw the ice-hardened ground right in front of her. Since she was counting on being caught, she had no way to save herself. She squinted her eyes...
But the pain she had expected didn’t come. Instead, someone grabbed her arm, stabilizing her so that she could find her balance.
"Are you alright?" Felix asked. "You should be more careful..."
The young Omega, Ayla, blinked a few times, staring at Felix. Then, she turned her eyes to Kade...
And noticed the bundle in his arms.
Was that... a pup?
She was left speechless, rooted in place, staring blankly. She didn’t even thank Felix - not because her manners were so bad, but because she was so dumbfounded that she completely forgot...
But Felix and Kade weren’t waiting for her to come back to her senses.
"Come on, it’s too cold, we should go inside," Kade said, the corners of his lips twitching as he barely suppressed his smile.
Felix gave him a dark look in response. Was the incident just now a coincidence, or...
He didn’t ask though, and followed Kade to the building.
There was no need to ask, anyway, as the answer eventually came to Felix on its own. They had encountered another ’tripping’ incident in the hall, then on top of the staircase... And each time, Kade dodged, using Vivi as an excuse not to catch the falling Omegas, and leaving the job to Felix.
He might have brought Felix to the Bloodmoon Pack to protect him, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t use him as a shield as well! Since the encounters with the Omegas were unavoidable anyway, might as well use it to finally start drawing a clear line, which was something he hadn’t been able to do until now.
