I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 160: Potential Solutions

Chapter 160: Potential Solutions

The Moonhill Pack was awaiting Jared’s return. Not immediately, as the road from Silverfall to the Moonhill Pack was very long - almost twenty hours, according to the map online - but still. Delaying the issue wouldn’t do Felix any good. He had to either send Jared back as soon as possible, or figure out some other way to deal with the situation...

But his stomach was grumbling. He was also in desperate need of a shower. How was he supposed to work like that? He needed a moment to himself, to clear his head and calm down. He couldn’t focus with Jared’s scent still clinging to his skin...

So, he jumped in the shower, scrubbing himself long and hard, until his whole body turned bright red from the excessive friction.

But it still didn’t work. The scent might have been gone from his skin, but the feeling of disgust still remained. Not to mention, the anise pheromones were still hanging in the air. Mostly suppressed by Remi’s jasmine scent, but not removed completely. It was hard to clear the house of Jared’s scent, when Jared was still inside!

It would be nice if Felix could at least open all the windows to ventilate the house well, but the weather was just too cold. He had just recovered from the flu and was still a bit weak, if he were too careless, he might get sick again. And it wouldn’t be too good for Vivi either...

So, he had no choice but to endure it for now. Once Jared was gone, he would solve the problem with the smell then. He put on some clothes, and made a quick, light breakfast, just to swallow something before dealing with Jared...

Before he was able to even finish eating, though, Vivi woke up. And as soon as she did, she started wailing... She was hungry and startled, with the stranger in the house. Although Jared was her biological father, she seemed to instinctively share Felix’s sentiments toward the Alpha. Which was a good thing - Felix wouldn’t want her to get attached to the man, not even in the slightest - but at the same time, because of that, it took much longer for her to calm down...

As a result, over an hour had passed before Felix finally sat down with Remi to discuss the next steps. An hour delay... It could still be explained by traffic, or bad conditions on the road, but the problem really had to be solved soon.

"So," Felix started, sipping on some herbal tea to calm down his nerves. "You say that altering his memories is not possible?"

"It’s not that it’s impossible... It’s just that if you want to erase his memories of your meeting, he will realize that something is not right," Remi explained.

"Why’s that?"

"He came here to look for you, right? So, if we were to erase his memories of your meeting... That would mean he would have no memories of his visit to Silverfall. Even that phone call he had with that other guy from his pack earlier... I could erase your presence, but when he thought about it later, he would realize that things were not adding up. He wouldn’t be able to tell where he had stayed, nor what he did..."

"The spell is the same as with the others, but the circumstances are different. Erasing more distant, less significant memories is easier, because even if a person thinks back to it and realizes they can’t recall some things, they won’t think much about it. Or when we had interrogated that Omega werewolf... In that case, he just wouldn’t remember anything, and think he had slept through the whole night. It’s a bit difficult to explain, but do you understand what I mean?"

"Hmm... I think I get it," Felix slowly nodded his head. "It’s not possible to plant fake memories in his head to replace the real ones?"

"This... Is a bit too complicated. It is possible to plant some vague ideas, but for recent, important memories... I’m afraid it’s not something that can be done effectively. Human mind is too complicated for that," Remi admitted, albeit unwillingly. He took pride in his skills, so it was hard for him to admit that there were things that he couldn’t do... Even though it wasn’t necessarily that he lacked the ability. He could plant visions in Jared’s head... It was just that when the Alpha thought about it later, he would notice that there was something wrong with them. Most likely not even his mother would be able to do anything about that.

It was... a bit disappointing. Felix was truly counting on that. However, if Remi said that it was impossible, then it must have been so... Rather than dwell on it, it was better to think about other solutions.

"How about the fated bond, then?" he asked next. "Can you do anything about it? Sever it with a spell, I mean?"

However, Remi shook his head sadly once again. "I’m sorry, but... I know nothing about the bond. It’s not something I have ever dealt with..."

That... was to be expected. Remi was a fox, he had nothing to do with the Moon Goddess, nor did he ever experience the fated mate bond. He had heard of it, but that was all. And it was unlikely that other witches had dealt with it either... Unless they were werewolves themselves. And even then...

The fated mate bond was a blessing given by the Moon Goddess. Was that really something that could be solved with a spell?

Felix let out a heavy sigh, leaning back in his seat. Of course, even if the bond were to be broken, that wouldn’t solve everything... There was still Vivi. Now that Jared knew about her existence, he was even less likely to give up... It was just that Felix would simply feel more at ease if there were no bond connecting him to that wretched Alpha. However, it seemed that it wouldn’t be possible unless Jared agreed to reject him himself... At most, they could try to force him to say the words the same way they had made him have the conversation with Nathan earlier.

Either way, since the memory spell wouldn’t work, there was only one solution left.

"Let’s curse him, then."
