I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL] -
Chapter 150: The Other Way Around
Chapter 150: The Other Way Around
"Huh?" Felix blinked, confused. "What do you mean by that?"
"Not much. Just that... He was the one who tried to get rid of that fated mate."
"Huh?"
"And his chosen mate hadn’t even left him at that point," Kade continued explaining. "Since they were about to have their mating ceremony, his former chosen mate, the heir to the Wild Fang Pack, didn’t want to abandon his mate. It was just that his fated mate appeared at the most unfortunate time, and to make it worst, he was an Omega son of a leader of the Purple Peak Pack... Therefore, he couldn’t reject his fated mate, at least not immediately, as it could result in a conflict between the two packs..."
"...And then what?" Before he knew it, Felix got pulled into the story.
"Well," Kade let out a heavy sigh. "That friend of yours didn’t want to wait and risk being abandoned. He decided to take things into his hands... And sneaked into the room the Omega from the Purple Peak Pack was staying in, and tried to kill him."
Felix furrowed his brows, unconvinced. "Could this be a setup? Perhaps someone tried framing him?"
"Unlikely. For what other reason would he go into the guest room in the middle of the night? Besides, it was in the Wild Fang Pack’s pack house. If anything happened to the son of a leader of the Purple Peak Pack, the whole pack would have suffered. It would be foolish for anyone from the Wild Fang Pack to set him up. And he would have been even more foolish to fall for it, and enter the guest house at night, regardless of the reason."
"What if... What if his former mate asked him to do it?" Felix asked.
"Unlikely. He had nothing to gain from it," Kade quickly shot the idea down. "If he chose the fated mate, no one would blame him..."
...That’s right, that’s how important the fated mate bond meant for everyone (except for Felix). It was a blessing sent by Moon Goddess. Naturally, that must have meant that they were a perfect match...
And if Kade found his second-chance fated mate in the future, he would probably also...
But Kade’s explanations were not over, yet. He continued, interrupting Felix’s thoughts, "The Wild Fang Pack was only a medium-sized pack, while the Purple Peak is a large pack. The difference between them was too great to act recklessly... And after the incident, the Wild Fang Pack greatly declined, and is now only considered a small pack."
"...What about those two? Are they mates?"
"No. Although the Omega from the Purple Peak Pack survived the incident, he ended up with a scar on his face. His father, the leader of the pack, was furious. They broke the bond, and severed all ties. In the end, your friend’s former chosen mate is still single, while the Omega mated with someone else two years later."
That... didn’t really seem like a setup, no matter how Felix looked at it. None of the parties had benefited from the conflict...
Of course, it could very well be that there was more to it, and some information was simply still unknown. Perhaps the initial setup had been different, but the plan had gone wrong, which was why things had spiraled out of control...
If the tale was even true to begin with, that is.
"How do you know so much about it?" Felix couldn’t help but ask, a bit suspicious.
"Because I investigated it, naturally. We had spies in both the Wild Fang Pack and the Purple Peak Pack, so we have received a full report on the situation from both sides back in the past."
Spies?
Felix didn’t know what relationship the Bloodmoon Pack had with those two packs, but successfully planting reliable spies... wasn’t easy. The Moonhill Pack had attempted it multiple times in the past, but most of those reports had failed. At the time Felix had fled the pack, they should have five active spies, as far as he was aware... Of course, it must have been easier for a supreme pack to accomplish that, since they had much greater resources, but still, to think that they had bothered to plant spies even in medium-sized packs...
In that case,
"Do you also have spies in the Moonhill Pack?"
"...What do you think?" Kade’s voice was low and velvety, pleasing to the ear, but Felix only grimaced as he heard it. He could tell exactly what kind of grin the Alpha had on his face right now...
He didn’t ask any further, as there was no need. Regardless of what was or wasn’t between them, Kade wouldn’t reveal anything to him, since technically, Felix was an outsider. And Felix didn’t care that much anyway - he no longer thought of himself as a member of the Moonhill Pack, so no matter how many spies were hidden within their ranks, that was none of his business.
He had his own problems to worry about.
"Either way, just leave him be," Felix let out a heavy sigh, ending the discussion. "It’s not like it matters to you whether you turn him in or not, right?"
"Well, if that’s what you want." As expected, Kade couldn’t care less about what happened with Eden. "Just... As long as you don’t cut me off."
"...Is that a threat?"
"Not a threat. Just... a desperate plea from a pitiful Alpha who can’t live without you!"
...A pitiful Alpha? How was Kade ’pitiful’?
Felix’s face twisted in a scowl.
Still, he let it go. "Fine," he said. "It’s your last chance, though."
"Thank you! I’ll make sure not to do anything like that ever again!"
Felix just sighed in response, shaking his head.
Did he believe Kade’s words? No, not really! But in truth, from the start, he hadn’t been planning to cut Kade off. As angry as he was about the situation, they were already too entangled, with the curse and so on... So even if Felix wanted to end things, it probably wouldn’t have worked...
