I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL] -
Chapter 137: Tricky and Troublesome
Chapter 137: Tricky and Troublesome
"It’s because of the rumor about the mermaid," Remi explained. "The Bloodmoon Pack’s heir came looking for her, hoping to use her blood as the cure."
"Ah?" Agnes paused with her cup lifted up, "So that’s true?"
"Yes."
"It’s about Brielle, right? I thought it must be fake... How could you have left such a trail behind?"
"...It was a few years ago. I was still inexperienced!" Remi defended himself.
"I guess that’s true," Agnes agreed. "I should have checked it out then... I thought you must have gone in the opposite direction, so I didn’t try to look for you here... Anyway. So he came here, and then what? With your current skill, he shouldn’t have been able to find her."
"He didn’t... But he met Lex..."
"Oh. And?" Agnes still didn’t understand.
"Well, you’ve heard how he ran away from his pack. The thing is, his fated mate is still looking for him... And that Bloodmoon’s heir had heard about it, and recognized Lex," Remi explained.
"Oh... Is he threatening you, then?" Agnes turned her eyes back to Felix. "I can curse him for you, if you want! Or that fated mate of yours, if you prefer? Or better yet, both of them!"
...Was that her way to resolve conflicts? Curse all the people involved?
Either way, Felix firmly refused, "Thank you, but please don’t."
"Are you sure? It would be really simple, and they would never be able to bother you again!"
"Yes, I’m sure."
Annoying as Kade was, he had also done a lot for Felix. Mostly spending money, but it helped Felix alone, especially covering the hospital bills. It wouldn’t feel right for him to pay Kade back for his help with curses...
As for Jared... Felix actually wanted to take revenge on him and the rest of the Moonhill Pack for how he and his mother had been treated. That was something he wanted to do on his own, though. Confront them directly, in person. Not just sent curses their way...
"About Young Master Kade. He didn’t threaten me or anything," he explained. "It was just..."
It was just that he had started chasing after Felix because of the fated mate bond, while Felix had been worried that he would be killed once his pregnancy was discovered. That’s how Remi got initially involved, taking him to meet Brielle because of his pregnancy...
He didn’t want to explain it all to Agnes, not when they had only just met. Earlier with Remi, they had agreed that they would skip on this whole ’fated mate’ situation with Kade. The problem was that without it, it was rather hard to explain what had happened that got them to their current point...
Luckily, Agnes picked up on Felix’s unease, and didn’t press any further. "If he didn’t threaten you, then that’s good. You don’t need to tell me everything," she said. "Did you give him the blood, though?"
"Yes, I did," Felix exhaled with relief, his shoulders relaxing a bit now that the topic had shifted from him and Kade.
"And it didn’t work, did it?"
"It relieved the symptoms at first, or so I’ve heard, but not long ago, Kade contacted me again, saying that the patient’s condition had worsened..."
Agnes nodded her head slowly. "Yes, I thought that it did. Then Einar Blackstone came to visit you, right?"
"Yes."
"Why did you agree?"
"It was..." Felix glanced at Remi, "Your son’s idea, actually."
"Oh?" Agnes also turned her eyes to the man, lifting her brows. "And why did you do something so troublesome?"
"Says the woman who agreed to curse a leader of a supreme pack," Remi snapped back.
"They offered me an ultra-rare ingredient in return."
"An ingredient you wasted on another useless potion."
"It’s not useless," Agnes defended herself.
But Remi only lifted his brows. "It is. We’ve already confirmed it, no?"
"It was at least worth a shot!"
Felix stared at the two in silence, not daring to interject. The atmosphere suddenly grew much more tense...
It didn’t last long, though, because Agnes soon exhaled, brushing her red hair back, and took a long sip of her tea. "Let’s not argue about that. What’s done is done. However, since you’re not a part of the Bloodmoon Pack, it would be best if you wouldn’t get involved any further. I won’t take any requests aimed against them in the future, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any more trouble... I’m not the only witch around, after all."
Felix and Remi exchanged glances. Or, well, Felix glanced at Remi, while Remi stared at the brim of the spiky witch hat hiding Felix’s eyes...
Indeed, they got it easy this time, as the witch behind Einar Blackstone’s curse was Remi’s mother. However, if her clients sought another witch... It could become troublesome for them. Felix didn’t want anything to happen to Kade’s father, although he personally didn’t know him, he could tell that Kade cared about him a lot... And he didn’t wish badly upon him.
But that didn’t mean he wanted to put himself, Remi, and most importantly, his daughter, in danger for his sake!
He would back out of it all, if possible. Except that the situation was too tricky to just ignore it. Although Felix didn’t want to get too involved in the messy affairs of a supreme pack, the truth was that he already WAS involved a lot. From the mermaid blood to undoing the curse and preparing the potions... Not to mention, all of Kade’s visits to Silverfall. ESPECIALLY Kade’s visits to Silverfall. If Agnes’ client investigated carefully, they might find some leads connecting them to the case, and then trouble would come their way, even if they tried to mind their business from now on!
So, although Felix believed that it was often better not to know too much, in this case...
"Please let us know who your client is," he turned to Remi’s mother. "We won’t reveal it to the Bloodmoon Pack for now... But we need this information to protect ourselves."
