Chapter 102: Die From Loneliness

Chapter 102: Die From Loneliness

Felix stared blankly at the message.

So if he ignored Kade, then the Alpha was just going to send him more nonsensical messages through someone else? Whatever, if Felix could ignore messages from one person, then he could do the same with another! He put his phone down, and went to play with Vivi and Remi.

Time passed by quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was already evening. Felix finished washing up and plopped down on the couch, his hair still damp, droplets of water falling down and sinking into the towel wrapped around his neck, and picked up his phone to watch something to unwind. He unlocked his phone...

And the first thing he saw was that message from Fen he had received earlier. It seems he forgot to close the app, and just turned off the screen. Well, no matter, he could just do that now...

Just as he was about to close the chat, he paused. Pressing his lips tightly, he stared at the message, as he hesitated...

He had to do something about it eventually. Confront Kade or let it go, whichever he chose, but he couldn’t just avoid the problem forever. So, if he truly did not want to talk to Kade yet, perhaps he should try responding to Fen?

Was that a good idea? Felix didn’t know, but he still typed, [So? Young Master Kade is a wolf.]

[But Felix is a bunny.]

Felix’s (the werewolf) eyes twitched - he still couldn’t get quite used to his name being used for Kade’s pet bunny - but he soon responded, [I still fail to see your point. Is Young Master’s bunny perhaps missing?]

[No, he’s still here.]

Picture attached. Of Kade, lying on the bed again, still sad and pitiful, and with tears welling up in his eyes - was that his acting skills, or perhaps just some eye drops? - and with Felix the bunny perched right on top of his head.

[But didn’t you know? The owners tend to resemble their pets.]

[And Kade is missing his other Felix.] Another message arrived before Felix was able to respond.

Felix’s brows shot up. ’The owners tend to resemble their pets’?

[Shouldn’t that be the other way around? And one Felix should be enough.]

[You would be enough.] Fen responded.

"Ugh..." A groan escaped Felix’s throat. No wonder those two were friends... They both had a knack for spouting nonsense.

Or it could be that Kade was the one telling Fen what to write, that was also a very likely possibility.

But the worst part about it all was that Felix... was somewhat amused by the messages. And flustered by the last one. Almost forgetting about the danger that associating with Kade brought... The danger that Kade himself was.

Almost. Luckily, the rational part of his brain flared in alarm just as a bit of redness started creeping onto Felix’s cheeks. He took a few deep breaths, taking a moment to calm down and clear up his mind...

Then his phone vibrated again.

[Are you going to just leave him for death, hmm?]

Felix’s eyes twitched again. [Yeah, why not?] he typed back angrily and pressed send without thinking twice.

[Ouch! How cruel!] Fen responded.

[Right back at him!]

After Felix’s last message, there was a long pause. For over five minutes, no new messages came. Which was a lot for Fen’s typing speed, which was almost as ridiculously fast as Kade’s.

Eventually though, Fen texted back. [Did Kade do anything to anger you?]

Felix couldn’t help but scoff. [Doesn’t he know that the best himself?]

[He says he doesn’t.]

[Is it because he has done so many wrong things that he has no idea which one I might be referring to, or is it because he thinks everything he does is justified? Or maybe he just didn’t think I would ever find out?] Felix finally snapped, and lashed out.

There was another long pause, after which Fen texted, [He says he has no idea. If he has done anything that made you feel wronged, he would like to make up for it, but he needs to know what it was first.]

Felix scoffed again, tossing his phone to the side. How nice of Kade, to be willing to fix his ’mistakes’!

...But then again, a few months had passed since the incident. Kade probably thought Felix would never find out, thus was now very confused...

Not that it made it any better, but just so that there was no doubt in Kade’s mind that he was the one at fault, and that it wasn’t just Felix being moody for no reason, he messaged Fen, [A little clue: it concerns a certain rogue Beta.]

[A rogue Beta?]

[A rogue Beta werewolf with a ragged ear.]

[???]

Just question marks. Did Kade still not get it? What, was it such an unimportant event in his mind that he had already forgotten about it? How he had deceived Felix, arranging for someone to stalk him and then swooping in to ’save’ him from danger? Or was he playing dumb?

Either way, Felix typed the last message, staring at his phone with his face dark and brows furrowed, [The rogue Beta whom he paid to follow me a few months ago.]

Then, he tossed his phone again, and got up. He was no longer in the mood to watch anything. He’d much rather just go to sleep... He went to the kitchen to grab himself a glass of water before bed...

And just as he was done, and was about to head to the bedroom, his phone rang, causing his steps to falter.

The phone rang, and rang, until the call disconnected. Only to start ringing again a few seconds later. Felix took a few steps forward, to take a look at the screen...

Fen.

Felix hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he picked it up.

"Felix," a low, velvety voice at the end of the line said.

And Felix immediately disconnected.

That wasn’t Fen’s voice, not at all! Although he didn’t remember the Alpha’s voice all that well, the voice that had spoken just now was the one he clearly recognized.

It was Kade’s.

The phone rang again, vibrating in Felix’s hands, but he just stared at it, motionless. It rang and then ended, and then a message came.

[I truly have no idea what you are talking about!]

As if Felix would believe it.

Fen - or, well, Kade, using Fen’s number - called again. Then messaged, [Please, let’s just talk. We should clear things up!]

Clear things up? More like allow Kade to feed Felix more lies, no?

Still, when the phone rang once again, Felix let out a heavy sigh, and finally answered.

Let’s just get this over with.
