Chapter 428: Chapter 428: Lackey No.1 and Lackey No.2 (2)_1

While grumbling inwardly, Zhang Te quickly scanned the menu only to find that the dishes he liked most were exactly the ones Xia Wan’an had ordered. With a sigh, he resigned himself to being Lackey No. 3 and told the waiter: "+2."

The moment the words left his lips, Han Jingnian, seated across him, slightly furrowed his brows, glancing at him with an icy look.

Zhang Te felt an inexplicable chill down his spine before he understood Han Jingnian’s message. Hurriedly, he turned to the waiter and said, "I was joking. I’ll have a rice noodle roll, a hot and sour glass noodle soup, a stuffed tofu bun, and a coke..."

Han’s desire for control was clearly too strong. It was such a simple thing as ordering food yet he only allowed the womenfolk to follow Mrs Han’s orders, never the men...No, not quite right. When it came to Mrs Han, Han was so petty that he rejected anything male. When he had agreed to get a cat earlier, the very first condition was: a female.

The waiter left after noting down the orders of all four at the table.

Before anyone could say anything, Han Jingnian’s cell phone rang. It was a business call, but since the signal was rather poor on the second floor, he excused himself with a nod to Xia Wan’an and left the private dining room, stepping out of the restaurant to answer the call outside.

Han Yixiao was bad at making conversation so he did not initiate any topics. He simply propped his chin on his hand and stared at Xia Wan’an with a sweet smile.

Xia Wan’an, out of curiosity, asked Zhang Te something she had been pondering all evening, "Zhang Te, how did you guys manage to bring the doctors and staff from the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong to Beijing? Since they received money from Chi Mu, they wouldn’t betray him so easily, right?"

"Well, to be precise, it wasn’t ’us.’ All this was Han’s idea..." Zhang Te put down his phone and briefed her on the night’s happenings. "Given the urgency of the situation, Han didn’t even consider negotiating with them. Rather, he just sent his people in Hong Kong to ’persuade’ them to comply."

"Persuade?" Xia Wan’an seized on the key word.

"Er..." Zhang Te hesitated for a moment. Though he knew that Han was outside talking on the phone and could not hear what he was saying, he leaned forward and lowered his voice anyway: "What I mean is...Han had the two of them kidnapped...put onto a private plane and rushed over here ..."

Zhang Te remained vague and did not dare detail how the kidnapping victims were taken to the rooftop of the Four Seasons Hotel and suspended in mid-air, terrified to the point of losing control of their bowel and bladder functions, and spilling everything they knew.

Xia Wan’an looked at him incredulously: "Zhang Te, your storytelling skills are not so impressive!"

"What do you mean storytelling? It’s true, Mrs Han! You can’t possibly think that Mr Han is not a force to be reckoned with, can you? Let me tell you, Mr Han has done a lot worse. Last time, when you had a narrow escape at the Garden Cottage, and it was related to Chi Mu, Mr Han then stormed into Chi Mu’s house with his bodyguards and did to Chi Mu exactly what he had planned for you..."

Before Zhang Te could finish his words, the waiter came in with the food and he promptly shut his mouth.

The waiter first served everyone their drinks. As Xia Wan’an stirred her sugar water, Han Yixiao followed suit. Xia Wan’an caught sight of this and couldn’t help but laugh at him. Seeing her laugh, Han Yixiao returned with an even brighter smile.
