Not noticing the change in Han Jingnian’s expression, Xia Wan’an realized what she just blurted out and lowered her head in embarrassment to eat her porridge.

As her bowl of porridge was quickly emptied, Han Jingnian asked, "Do you want more?"

Xia Wan’an nodded faintly. Just as she was about to get up and go to the kitchen to refill her bowl, Han Jingnian had already taken it from her and walked into the kitchen.

By the time Xia Wan’an’s attention shifted away from Han Jingnian, she saw that Xiaojing had somehow jumped onto the dining table and was staring at the peeled egg in the small plate by her hand.

Using her chopsticks, Xia Wan’an poked the egg and, with a hint of bragging, whispered to Xiaojing, "Xiaojing, see this? This is the egg Han Jingnian peeled for me."

Xiaojing responded with a "meow" and reached out its paw to swipe at the egg.

Xia Wan’an quickly grabbed the egg and glared protectively at Xiaojing, "This is mine!"

"Meow~" Xiaojing jumped onto Xia Wan’an’s shoulder and once again reached out its paw towards the egg.

Without thinking, Xia Wan’an stuffed the whole egg in her mouth. Just as she was about to raise an eyebrow at Xiaojing in triumph, Han Jingnian came out of the kitchen with a bowl of porridge. "Are you okay?" Han Jingnian poured a cup of water for Xia Wan’an and placed it by her hand.

After gulping down some water and finally feeling better, Xia Wan’an shook her head at Han Jingnian. Then in a low voice, she grumbled, feeling slightly embarrassed about her fight with a cat for food, "It’s all Xiaojing’s fault. It bullied me, and I didn’t even taste the egg. I had to swallow the whole thing..."

Xiaojing, with its blue eyes, looked at Han Jingnian, then at Xia Wan’an, and let out a louder "meow".

After a while, Han Jingnian placed a newly peeled egg onto Xia Wan’an’s plate, "Here, eat this egg."

As he did so, he put the eggshell in front of Xiaojing, "Give it the eggshell."

Xia Wan’an immediately brightened and picked up the egg. To offset her earlier brutish image, she gracefully ate the egg in small bites.

Xiaojing, sitting by the side, made a few rounds on the empty table. It then extended its paw to smash the eggshell that Han Jingnian had put in front of it, and walked away.

After eating, just like the few times they had a meal together, Han Jingnian picked up the pots and pans to wash in the kitchen, wearing an apron with HelloKitty on it.
