Chapter 1071: Chapter 1069: Have I Wronged You by Making You Follow Me? (1)

Xie Lin received an overseas call three days later, informing him that someone was willing to donate a cornea, but it required Han Jingnian to go overseas for the surgery.

With Xie Lin’s connections, the news was confirmed to be true and reliable. However, despite using all possible methods to investigate and contact, Xie Lin ultimately failed to gather any information on the donor.

On the third day after receiving the call, Han Jingnian flew overseas accompanied by Xia Wan’an and Xie Lin.

After disembarking from the plane, the pickup personnel, who had been arranged in advance, were already waiting at the airport exit. They got into the vehicle and headed straight to the hospital insisted upon by the donor.

They had thought that upon arriving at the hospital they would meet the donor. However, it turned out that Xie Lin and Xia Wan’an had hoped for too much. From completing the admission procedure to giving Han Jingnian the best examination, and then to determining the surgical plan and schedule, over the span of thirty-six hours, they didn’t even catch a glimpse of the donor or their relatives. In the end, it was just a lawyer who showed up the day before the surgery to sign the donation agreement on behalf of the donor.

The day Han Jingnian was scheduled for surgery, there was a light rain in the morning. Although the surgery was not particularly complicated or a major operation, it still carried certain risks. Xia Wan’an woke up before six o’clock and, unable to fall back asleep, she stared at the dense raindrops outside the window.

To Xia Wan’an, the donor was equivalent to her life-saving benefactor. Generally, those who make donations are either on the verge of dying or have just passed away. Whether or not she could speak with them, Xia Wan’an still very much wanted to meet the donor in person and express her gratitude.

However, by ten o’clock, as Han Jingnian was about to be taken into the operating room, the donor’s details remained tightly sealed, showing no trace or clue that could be followed.

Xia Wan’an knew very well that there wouldn’t be any problems with Han Jingnian’s surgery, but as she accompanied him to the operating room, she still felt an inexpressible worry.

Han Jingnian couldn’t see, but he could feel her hand in his palm, trembling slightly. He couldn’t help but squeeze her hand tighter and then, right before entering the operating room, he gently tugged her.

Xia Wan’an hurriedly bent over, drew close to Han Jingnian, thinking he had something to instruct or to entrust to her. But to her surprise, when her ear was near his lips, he simply said, "Following me has wronged you."

Although he only said seven words, Xia Wan’an understood his meaning.

The mess at the Han Family had finally been settled, and now this situation had arisen...

Xia Wan’an felt a warmth at the bottom of her eyes and a sourness in her heart that left her speechless. In the end, she simply tilted her head and kissed the corner of his lips.

The surgery went smoothly. When Han Jingnian was wheeled out of the operating room, Xia Wan’an’s first reaction was to rush to the door, crane her neck to sneak a peek inside the operating room, but apart from various medical equipment and some nurses, there was no sight of the person she was looking for.

Back in the hospital room, Han Jingnian was always asleep, and Xia Wan’an patiently held his hand, sitting quietly by his side.

If everyone in their life faces ups and downs and hardships, she truly hoped... hoped that this would be the last time for Han Jingnian.

Xia Wan’an gazed at Han Jingnian’s face for what felt like an eternity. In between, doctors came in to check on Han Jingnian’s postoperative condition.

The light outside the window faded and then brightened. When the sun was high in the sky in the East, Han Jingnian’s fingers moved.

Xia Wan’an turned her head sharply and once again saw the familiar eyes she knew.

(As this is nearing conclusion, these are really just brief plot points. Everyone, please be patient for the ending, it’s really good, and I will fulfill the dream, addressing the regrets of when "a million stars are not as good as you"!)
