I Treat You as My Sister, But You Want to be My Wife?! -
Chapter 393 Nouveau_Riche_1
Chapter 393: Chapter 393 Nouveau_Riche_1
Mr. Hu had always been concerned about how to spread the private tutoring lesson plans to benefit more students.
"The list!" Not much later, Shen Dong rushed out of the school gates again.
Just as he stepped out, Shen Dong retreated back. He caught a glimpse of the gatekeeper’s odd smile. Hai City Middle School was a semi-closed school, and he had been running in and out several times. Why hadn’t he been stopped?
Heh, he really was spoiling the school atmosphere.
Shen Dong gave a bitter smile, full of self-blame as he walked back to the car. "There, this matter is settled. Either I drop out, or I become a proper student."
Tang Yuchan glanced at Shen Dong and flipped through the private tutoring list. "All have phone numbers, we should first ask if they can manage this matter."
"Nonsense, I can’t let Mr. Hu regret this his whole life." Shen Dong suddenly felt his outlook on life was shallow and mercenary. To live a life all over again, was it just to become a nouveau riche?
Tang Yuchan was unaware of Shen Dong’s thoughts and dialed the phone while reminding, "This may not be easy, let’s see first."
"Hello, are you one of Mr. Hu’s students? I’d like to know about the private tutoring."
"Oh, do you have time to meet?"
"That’s great, you say."
The sound of Tang Yuchan’s voice was so comforting that she easily arranged a meeting with a parent.
"How is it, what’s the parent’s attitude towards Mr. Hu?" Shen Dong was so nervous, his palms were soaked with sweat.
Tang Yuchan was uncertain, twisting the key in the car as she said, "By the tone, they seemed quite anxious; but of course, don’t be too optimistic about this, as everyone pushes a falling wall."
"No matter how difficult, we’ll smooth it out for Mr. Hu." Shen Dong took a deep breath, the melancholy in his eyes lingering.
He looked out the window, at his own reflection in the glass, lost in unprecedented confusion, "Was I really wrong?"
"If you were just a simple businessman, you wouldn’t be wrong, but you’re still a student." Tang Yuchan, after all, was a lady from a prominent family who’d seen her share of ups and downs; her words made sense. She said, "Regardless of right or wrong, we should not easily influence others, especially students."
"Their lives are just beginning, and admiration can easily become blind."
"Sigh!" While speaking, Tang Yuchan gave Shen Dong a look that was both mocking and smiling. "Do you think there are many people who can be as extraordinary as you? You’ve spurred their ’desire for wealth,’ but you must admit that only a handful of these students will truly become ’rich.’"
"And most importantly, ’wealth’ that lacks cultural depth won’t take one far."
"Of course, you are an exception."
Shen Dong didn’t turn around, always looking at his own reflection in the glass. He indeed was an exception, not because of extraordinary talent, but because he possessed things from an age this era didn’t have.
"That was not my intention." Shen Dong ruffled his hair, expressing his distress. "I truly wish that every student at Hai City Middle School would improve and succeed so that in the future, they could serve my purposes."
"Wow." Tang Yuchan said exaggeratedly, chuckling. "What a great idea, to maintain an army for a thousand days just for one day’s battle. But have you considered, once you get into Tsingpe University, grabbing one person would mean finding a talent?"
"Huh?" At the sound, Shen Dong turned his head, his eyes blinking rapidly.
He almost slapped himself, looking at Tang Yuchan with a stupefied expression. "Then what am I doing, simply corrupting the school atmosphere?"
"Haha!" Tang Yuchan couldn’t help it; she burst into laughter, bending forward and back.
Shen Dong was frustrated, muttering, "Not comforting is one thing, but to mock me too."
He didn’t know that a childish decision had transformed his image in Tang Yuchan’s heart from that of a fox demon into a human being.
"I’m not laughing, I’m not laughing." Tang Yuchan saw Hai City Square approaching, the place where she had agreed to meet with the parents.
She parked the car, unfastened her seatbelt, and turned to Shen Dong, "Call me sister, and I’ll sort this out quick and clean for you!"
"I won’t," Shen Dong said petulantly, turning his head away. But he couldn’t last two seconds before he said irritably, "Sister, okay?"
"Good boy." Tang Yuchan’s smile shone brightly for a moment as she took a small mirror out of her bag to start applying makeup, "Don’t feel hard done by. Kicking someone when they’re down has always existed. Even if Mr. Hu really didn’t take extra money, we might still encounter unreasonable parents."
Shen Dong had to agree to that point.
Before long, seventeen or eighteen parents showed up at Hai City Square as if they had made a pact, each carrying small bags and looking expectantly.
Seeing this, Shen Dong felt uneasy, "See? They must have arranged this beforehand. What if they are planning to file a joint report or something? Look, they’re all holding something. Could it be evidence?"
"Hard to say, let’s just go and see," Tang Yuchan said after finishing her makeup, her entire demeanor radiating confidence, combined with her long slender legs giving off a commanding presence.
Shen Dong was already thinking about how to make it up to Mr. Hu, how to apologize in person, but as soon as a parent started speaking, the tone shifted, "Oh, who might you be, an official of some sort? Let me tell you, you must investigate thoroughly, never wrong a good person."
Tang Yuchan winked at Shen Dong, then found a clean flower bed and sat down with the parents, "Uncles, aunties, how does Mr. Hu charge for private tutoring?"
"Five hundred a month," a parent spoke up.
No sooner had the words been spoken than someone objected, "Talking nonsense, why add to the chaos?"
The objector was a middle-aged man wearing a military-green cotton-padded jacket, the color of which had faded from washing, "Comrade, please don’t get the wrong idea, this five hundred yuan is for boarding, meals, and miscellaneous fees."
"The miscellaneous fee items are also very clear, for printing test papers, workbooks, as well as for the kids’ pocket money."
"Exactly, Mr. Hu didn’t take a penny for the tutoring."
As everyone spoke at once, Shen Dong could only make out a few words, but those few words filled him with immense pride.
Mr. Hu was a big shot, an absolute badass of a kind.
Tang Yuchan also showed her respect, listening and taking notes. After jotting everything down, she turned the notebook towards the parents, "Look at this, please. If everything is correct, sign your names and place your thumbprints."
"That seems about right. Have a look, everyone?" The man in the green jacket took the notebook, glanced over it quickly, and then turned to the other parents.
"If you think it’s fine, then let’s do it. Just be sure, we can’t let Mr. Hu be mistreated."
This dude obviously commanded respect among the parents’ group; he quickly became their representative. He turned to Tang Yuchan, "Comrade, you really need to understand the situation clearly. Our kids have improved a lot studying with Mr. Hu, and we’ve seen the progress in their scores!"
"Ah, there’s no ink pad here." The man signed his name and looked up, thumb raised.
Tang Yuchan handed him a lipstick, "Use this for now. And, if we need a few parents to testify..."
"No problem!" The man readily agreed before Tang Yuchan could finish.
He gestured towards the others, then randomly pointed into the air, taking responsibility as he said, "There are in total around forty parents. We all go to Mr. Hu’s together every week to pick up our kids, we pretty much all know each other, and not one has a bad word to say about him."
