Chapter 924: His sister

After giving out his order, Dane cocked his head back upon hearing Romnick’s short response. Turning his head, he smirked as soon as he caught the curiosity in Ivy’s eyes.

"You seemed intrigued, Ivy," he mused. "If you’re wondering what’s that all about, I was talking to Romnick. You met him the other day."

Ivy pressed her lips as she huffed and looked away. "Do you think I’d have the leisure to remember every single person who I met the past couple of days?"

"Heh. I know you always take notice of the smallest details, my lady. It’s one of your greatest skill sets." Dane nodded approvingly. "I’ve always admired that about you."

What he said was true. Even though Ivy was distraught the first time she arrived in this place, she could remember every single face she saw that day.

"To give you some privilege and so you won’t feel left out, I sent Romnick on a mission." Dane swayed his foot to and fro, balancing a rifle part on top of his index, his elbow propped leisurely on the armrest. "I sent him to my former partner’s headquarters. After all, Dragon was the one who sent those people who ambushed us back that day."

The lines on her forehead resurfaced, looking back at Dane in surprise. Dane was already side-eyeing her, smirking.

"After attacking me that day and for disregarding your life, I find it unacceptable. So, I have to take him out of this map as soon as possible," he summarized, while Alfred didn’t hide his displeasure once again. "Fun fact, though, Dragon took Hera captive. And also, Leo Wu."

Ivy’s breath hitched as her pupils gradually dilated. "Leo Wu?"

"Oh, you don’t know?" Dane cocked his head to the side. "Right. Dominic helped in shutting down any information about his abduction. After all, it will be a national problem. But yes, Dragon abducted that poor, innocent man for no damn reason. Or, to be precise, he abducted him because of a fifteen-second phone call."

"What nonsense are you talking about now?" Ivy scoffed, hesitant to believe him.

"To put it simply, Hera called this poor man, and Dragon, a sick bastard as he was, couldn’t understand why. I must say Dragon is as stupid as always. If he wanted to know why she called a complete stranger, he shouldn’t have fried her brain until he got the answer!" Dane sighed and shook his head. "That man is truly evil."

"If he used to be your partner, you’re not any different from him."

"I’m not saying I’m less evil, but for sure, I’m more capable." Dane snapped his eyes at her, smirking confidently. "One more fun fact for you, Miss Wei. Hera Cruel and Tiger are actually pretty close."

Ivy’s face suddenly froze as her breath hitched, wide-eyed. "What did you say?"

"If my memory served, they were like brothers and sisters. They weren’t blood-related, but from what I heard, they were very close despite that. Probably the closest — too close that they also fuck each other."

"Shut up!"

Dane’s smile stretched until his teeth were showing, his eyelids drooping. "But it was true, Ivy! Their relationship is partly at fault with why Dragon was driven into madness."

"I said, shut up!" Ivy sprung up from her seat, her knuckles turning white as she clenched them tight. "Do you think saying this will change my mind about Tiger? Dimitri, are you this desperate that you’re resorting to slander him?"

"It’s not slander, Ivy. Whether I slander him or not, you’re already here and will always be my little bird in a cage." Dane blinked innocently. "But what I find strange is that you seem a lot more... affected than I expect you to be. If you know it’s not true, then why are you so defensive?"

He hummed for a moment before his smirk resurfaced. "Is it because at the back of your head, Tiger mentioned Hera Cruel? Or what he called his sister?"

This time, Ivy held her breath until her neck turned taut. Her shoulders trembled and her jaw was almost locking. She didn’t believe the nonsense Dane was spewing, but he knew about Tiger’s sister. Tiger often talked about her and gave her a brief detail about his sister.

Ivy was aware Tiger’s sister was a dangerous person, and that she was connected in the underground. It was also the reason Tiger was being targeted and how he got a bounty on his head. She also knew that Tiger treasured his sister dearly and that he would die for her. This nonsense about their ’illicit’ affair wasn’t even her concern, but rather, she was more shaken by the fact that Dane also had his eyes on Tiger’s sister.

"One more thing!" Dane clapped and smiled until his eyes were squinting. "It seemed like Tiger was also in Dragon’s place. I heard from Romnick that Tiger made his move and killed someone, marking the chaos in the Dragon’s Den."

His smile faded a little as his eyes cracked open. "Knowing Tiger, I bet he mentioned about his sister. He’s obsessed with her, after all. So, I wonder... between you, his lover, and his beloved sister, who would he rescue first?"

A wave of silence descended on the lobby as Dane and Ivy stared at each other. Compared to the taunting smirk plastered on his face, the veins in Ivy’s sclera turned red. She let out a sharp huff and turned around, walking out of Dane.

Deep in her heart, she had always known that Tiger’s sister’s role in his heart was irreplaceable. Tiger, himself, told her this. That he wouldn’t hesitate to take a bullet for his sister and that his sister used to be his world. Compared to Ivy, whom Tiger had just started making a connection with, it was only natural for him to save his sister first.

"Oh, you’re walking away?!" Dane yelled and laughed, eyes on Ivy’s retreating figure. "Ivy, that’s okay! I’m here for you!"

Dane chuckled and shook his head, only for his amused smirk to disappear when he heard a deafening ring in his earpiece. He instantly pulled it away from his ear before slowly putting it back to hear Romnick’s coughing.

"Dimitri, this mission is doomed to fail. I’m retreating."
