Chapter 616: 616 Fairy Tail: Dangerous Night, Gajeel Redfox Attacks Levy, A Sign of Help, A One-Sided Beatdown and In Search of Jose Porla.

The day continued with a lighter mood ever since Allen repaired the guild. There were still a few who couldn’t fully accept the situation, but overall, everyone settled down.

By the end of the day, everyone was supposed to head home. Allen promised to place a barrier over the guild and assured them he’d teleport back instantly if anything happened. Only then did people finally breathe a sigh of relief. No one wanted to live through the experience of seeing the guild destroyed again.

MJ – It’s just a hunch, but maybe you should still be careful.

Gwen – I don’t think you’re taking security seriously enough. How about patrolling at night?

Allen thanked them for the warning. Reading between the lines, it was clear there were still Phantom Lord members hiding somewhere in Magnolia, so he needed to stay alert.

Allen planned to escort Erza and Lucy home before heading out to look for any bastards running around.

....

(Half an hour later)

The sky had darkened and the streets soon emptied.

According to the guild master, everyone should remain in groups for now to stay safe from any potential attacks.

Levy, Jet, and Droy stuck together as a team. Although, the imagination of the two guys was already running wild at the thought of spending the night with Levy. The three were childhood friends, but unlike both of them, Levy’s feelings never became romantic for either of them.

Levy stared at them coldly. "Just so you know, we’re staying in separate rooms at the inn..."

"Of course! We wouldn’t have any impure thoughts, right, Droy?" Jet nearly dropped his hat when he heard Levy’s tone and quickly tried to defend himself.

Jet had a unique style—he wore a purple shirt under a fluffy brown coat, and a tall top hat tilted over his spiky orange hair.

"Yeah, totally! We’re just worried about your safety!" Droy quickly added, looking nervous. He was tall and skinny with bronze skin. His black hair was styled in a backwards ponytail that resembled a scorpion’s stinger. He typically wore a long-sleeved white sweater with two crossed belts over it.

These two were Levy’s team...

Levy eyed them with suspicion. Neither could they hide their true intentions. She genuinely wondered if staying with them was a mistake and considered going with Cana instead.

"..." Levy sighed. She knew of his feelings for her, but still, she never felt in love. Levy wasn’t going to deceive them or give them false hope, so she made it clear to them on more than one occasion that she didn’t feel anything beyond an important and valuable friendship; however, neither of them gave in, making Levy feel pressured.

"Finally found some little fairies..."

The mocking, arrogant voice stopped them in their tracks. Someone landed hard in front of them, cracking the ground beneath. As the dust cleared, the sharp, dangerous eyes of the Iron Dragon Slayer stunned them.

"It’s Gajeel from Phantom!"

Levy was well-known for her vast knowledge, so it made sense that she recognized him instantly.

"Oh? You know me?"

"You’re the bastard who destroyed our guild?!" Droy stepped forward.

"You cowardly scum, how dare you show your face here?!" Jet followed.

But Levy reacted differently. She knew exactly how dangerous Gajeel was and understood that her friends stood no chance against him.

"Guys, we need to get out of here!" Levy wrote the word "Fire" in the air, and in an instant, it transformed into a blast of flames aimed at Gajeel. Her magic allowed her to write words in the air that took on various magical effects.

"No! We need to take him down! Knuckle Plant!" Droy threw seeds at the ground, which sprouted into fists and launched toward Gajeel. His magic allowed him to grow and control plants for combat.

"Sorry, Levy, but we’ve got to show this jerk the power of Shadow Gear! High Speed!" Jet launched forward like a cheetah, using his magic to drastically increase his speed.

Levy was scared. She understood the frustration her childhood friends carried—and how stubborn Fairy Tail members could be—but they couldn’t let emotions take control. Phantom Lord wasn’t a weak guild.

Jet reached Gajeel and kicked him, but his foot collided with something hard—metal—and he winced in pain.

"What?!"

Jet tried to pull back, but his foot was stuck. Levy’s flames vanished, and Gajeel stood unharmed—but now he looked different. His body was covered in metal, like a layer of scales.

"Don’t tell me... this is all you’ve got?"

"Jet!" Droy and Levy shouted. But Gajeel didn’t hesitate—he punched Jet in the face. His fist, like an iron hammer, shattered several of Jet’s teeth. Droy quickly used his plants to try and trap Gajeel, but the Iron Dragon Slayer laughed and created blades with his hands, slicing through the vines and hurling Jet straight into Droy.

Droy caught his friend, but then shivered as Gajeel took a deep breath.

"Iron Dragon’s Roar!"

"Barrier!" Levy wrote the word, forming a magical shield—but it shattered on impact with the roar, and the blast struck both of them. Levy watched in fear. How could the difference in power be so massive? Why didn’t they run when they had the chance?

"Jet! Droy!... this can’t be happening..." Levy fell to her knees, staring at her unconscious, badly wounded friends.

"Don’t worry, brat. I’m not gonna kill ’em—I just want to send a message... Haha." Gajeel landed and walked toward her, as his metal skin returned to normal. His expression was twisted—mocking and sadistic, like this was all a game to him. "It’s honestly disgusting that people think you losers are the strongest. You’re pathetic."

Levy was frozen. With her friends hurt, she couldn’t run. Even if she tried, she wouldn’t be able to escape this beast. She was too far from the guild—too far for even Makarov to sense what was happening. She regretted choosing this place.

She went pale, ’We’re going to die. Is there nothing I can do?!’

— "Hey, why do your eyes change color?" —

"...?!" In desperation, a memory flashed through Levy’s eyes.

— "Hm? Ah, it’s because of a spell called Auris Arcanum. It’s pretty complex, but it lets me detect a bunch of stuff—magic objects, hidden runes, enchanted seals, magical faces, even slight magical shifts most people wouldn’t notice..." —

— "What?! That’s so unfair! Teach me!" —

— "Stay away from him, Levy!" —

— "Huh?! Since when does Allen belong to you, Lucy?!" —

Levy smiled slightly, ’If it’s you you should be able to see this, no?’

Gajeel paused. He noticed the girl had stopped trembling. Her head, which had been lowered, slowly lifted—her eyes serious and fearless as she stared at him.

"What?" Gajeel grinned. "Oh, so you’ve got some guts after all, little fairy. I’m gonna enjoy beating you senseless. Kekeke..."

"You’re disgusting," Levy muttered, raising her hand and gathering her remaining magical power to launch a spell into the sky.

The response was immediate. The magic blast exploded, forming a word—no, a name: "Allen."

"What the hell did you just do?!" Gajeel growled.

"I really wouldn’t want to be you right now..." Levy smirked.

"You little brat!" Enraged, Gajeel turned his fist into metal again and charged at her.

....

Levy closed her eyes, bracing for pain—but it never came. When she opened them, she saw Gajeel’s stunned expression. His punch had been stopped—by someone he hadn’t even seen coming.

"Allen!" Levy cried out in relief, her face lighting up.

"I was planning to track this guy down... but first, I wanted to make sure Lucy and Erza got home safely." Allen turned to Levy. "Sorry, I’m a bit late."

Levy shook her head and wiped her tears as she stood up with a smile. "Thank you~"

"..." Allen nodded. "Don,t worry, but Levy, can you step back?"

Levy was a smart girl. She immediately understood and backed away, preparing for what was about to happen.

Gajeel frowned, feeling irritated. How dare this nobody ignore him?! How dare he look down on him?! How dare he prioritize talking to some insect over acknowledging his presence?!

"Don’t get cocky!—" Gajeel snapped, but before he could react, he was punched in the face and sent flying across an entire street before finally crashing to a stop.

He wanted to curse, but lost his balance. His vision blurred, and as he looked down, he saw blood dripping from his mouth. His jaw had been dislocated, and his iron-hard body had been wounded far too easily.

"I’m not in the mood to listen to you talk," Allen said, standing far from Gajeel, yet with his enhanced hearing, Gajeel clearly heard every word.

"Tu!..." Gajeel adjusted his dislocated jaw, but did not attack immediately as his instincts screamed at him not to do so.

I don’t think you understood how upset I am, "Don’t worry, this won’t be quick... One-Man Army x10: Acceleration, Strength, Mass, Defense, Agility, Speed, Magic Resistance, Physical Resistance, Stamina, Tenacity, Reflexes, Recovery, Senses, Reflexes... and Critical Point..."

Gajeel’s metallic body shivered involuntarily, but Allen appeared before him in an instant. The first punch landed in Gajeel’s stomach, knocking the wind out of him, stirring up his insides, and making him vomit. Allen grabbed Gajeel by the hair and punched him repeatedly in the face without letting go, then slammed him into the ground, causing a small explosion before hurling him into the sky.

In mid-air, Gajeel’s teeth were shattered, but he forced himself to recover. He turned his fists into iron pillars to counterattack Allen. It was useless. Allen blinked around like a ghost, moving faster than Gajeel’s eyes could follow. Gajeel puffed up his chest to unleash his breath attack, but Allen instantly appeared in front of him and grabbed his lance-like weapon with one hand, stopping the strike completely.

"What’s the matter? Did you really think you could come and have fun without consequences?"

Allen hurled Gajeel to the ground, where he crashed hard. But it didn’t end there—Allen landed right on top of him with a kick that broke several ribs. Gajeel turned his hands into blades to slash Allen’s leg, but upon attempting it, he realized Allen had a defense as high as his, or perhaps higher.

"I-Impossible..." Gajeel gasped in pain, eyes wide in shock as he spoke weakly with what little air he had left. "I... I know who you are now..."

"Does it matter?" Allen didn’t stop and attacked Gajeel.

— "Gajeel-san, one more thing before you go. Gildarts Clive, Laxus Dreyar, and Mystogan are away, so you only need to worry about running into Erza Scarlet or Makarov..." —

— "Isn’t the Master exaggerating? Makarov’s a coward. He’s never responded to our provocations. Titania’s addicted to rules—she won’t fight without permission!" —

— "Gajeel-san, don’t underestimate that group. Together, they make up eighty percent of Fairy Tail’s power..." —

— "Tsk, whatever." —

— "There’s one more... but I’m not sure..." —

— "Oh? Someone else? And who’s this trash?" —

— "If I remember correctly, his name is Allen Walker." —

— "Allen Walker?! Sounds like the name of some loser. Keh keh keh!" —

....

"Ugh!"

Gajeel regretted. His bones cracked with every blow, his organs bled from every impact. Gajeel didn’t stand a chance. His metal skin was little more than a joke to his opponent. His attacks seemed slow and clumsy compared to Allen’s speed. His techniques were interrupted before he could even launch them, as if Allen already knew every move he’d make. And worst of all were Allen’s words echoing in his ears.

— "Don’t worry... this won’t be quick..." —

Gajeel rolled along the ground, but before he could stop, Allen kicked him again, knocking the air out of his lungs. This wasn’t a fight. It was intimidation, humiliation, and mockery.

"AHHHHHH!!!" Fueled by rage, Gajeel unleashed metal columns in all directions.

"How childish..." With a single motion, Allen shattered them. Then he increased the strength in his fist to x20. Allen did not hesitate to beat the bastard Gajeel.

"Ugh!"

When Gajeel took that punch to the chest, he felt several more ribs break. There was no longer any doubt—his opponent was just toying with him.

Allen grabbed Gajeel by the neck. "Interesting... so you’re a Dragon Slayer like Natsu. You even seem a bit stronger than the current Natsu."

"Don’t underestimate me!" Gajeel gritted his teeth and turned his hand into a massive metal hammer, slamming it into Allen’s face. Allen opened his hand and caught the blow, making Gajeel stumble back—but he stayed on his feet.

"Take that... bastard!"

This time, the hit actually landed, making Gajeel grin. But that grin quickly froze and turned into disbelief—Allen was completely unharmed.

"Impossible! IMPOSSIBLE! I’m Gajeel Redfox! I’m a legendary Dragon Slayer, raised by a real dragon! A nobody won’t defeat me!"

Refusing to accept reality, Gajeel launched a wild attack at Allen. But Allen didn’t defend himself—he just stood there and let Gajeel hit him in silence. Levy, who was watching from the side, covered her mouth. Of course, she knew Allen was strong, but she had always ranked him around Erza’s level. Gajeel wasn’t weaker than Natsu—and while Natsu might not be as strong as Erza, he shouldn’t be humiliated like this.

"Damn it!"

Gajeel’s gaze had lost all trace of arrogance. It would be ridiculous to keep it when he couldn’t even scratch his opponent. But even then, he didn’t give up and kept attacking in desperation—until he started coughing up blood from internal damage.

"Damn it!" Gajeel shouted as he went for another strike—but this time, he stopped.

"Had enough, Dragon Slayer?..."

Allen’s gaze froze Gajeel in place, then made him take a step back. What appeared in Gajeel’s eyes was something no one would expect from him—fear. Gajeel was scared. And he no longer fought back. Gajeel had a vision, one in which his body was torn to pieces. One in which his opponent was killing him like an ant.

"I... I’m done..." Gajeel’s spirit had been so thoroughly shattered that he dropped to his knees. For the first time in his life, Gajeel Redfox admitted defeat.

"Ah..." Levy gasped in disbelief. This went beyond simply defeating someone—the difference was so overwhelming that he just gave up.

Noticing Gajeel’s condition, Allen narrowed his eyes and spoke coldly, "Gajeel Redfox. I assume you’re surrendering. Then answer my questions. What is Jose Porla planning? Why does he want war? And more importantly—where is he?"

"W-What?!"

Neither Gajeel nor Levy could process what they’d just heard. Allen wanted to go after Jose Porla. He wasn’t just any mage—he was a Saint Wizard. A monster on the same level as Makarov.

"Allen?!" Levy ran to his side and grabbed his arm with worry. "This isn’t right!"

Allen gently patted the light-blue-haired girl on the head. "Levy, Master’s decision was based on the idea that Phantom Lord’s actions were just provocations. But now, that no longer holds up. Gajeel Redfox tried something that goes beyond a provocation—and because of that, there will be a war. I’m just getting ahead of the Guild Master’s decision."

Levy frowned. She was a smart girl, and she quickly realized Allen was right. If he hadn’t shown up, she would’ve ended up just like Jet and Droy—or worse. Remembering that, Levy glared at Gajeel with hatred. But she said nothing more and let Allen handle things.

Once he stopped looking at Levy, Allen’s expression turned cold as he glared at Gajeel. "You heard me, tin lizard. Take me to Jose Porla..."
