I Refused To Be Reincarnated -
Chapter 607: A Familiar Purple
Chapter 607: A Familiar Purple
His breath hitched in his throat. He’ll learn the name and use of this mysterious technique after claiming the place. Still, he took a deep inhale, forcing his drumming heart to calm down.
’Nothing’s sure yet. The projection could have lied to tempt me into the library.’
He shook his head. His plans wouldn’t change until he saw the technique. At worst, he would inherit the sun-grade ones. No, it could even be better.
’What would happen if I throw dozens in the fusion pool?’ His fists tightened in anticipation. ’The result would definitely reach that unknown grade!’
He rolled his eyes, clapping himself mentally as he left the room. ’Good job. You’re more excited than earlier, fool.’
His mind wandered to find something to calm down. ’Thinking about the pool, my four grimoires should end their fusion in a few hours. I’ll check it after gathering the clues.’
Frowning, he observed the adjacent rooms’ closed doors. With the guardians’ threat, he didn’t want to risk opening them. Instead, he’ll wait for a group of disciples to fail or until he found an open one. He wouldn’t lose out by playing it safe and could perhaps find Misha that way.
With a nod, he charged down the corridor, passing one room after another until he emerged into a broad garden connected to the palace’s next section.
About to enter it and continue his search, a clang and aggressive yells drew his attention to the rows of sculpted bushes, pond of fresh water, and colorful flowers.
"Stop your vain resistance, you sow!" A male’s voice thundered, followed by a wailing one.
"Avenge me, brother! That mongrel from the Jin Long sec poisoned me!"
His veins bulged on his clenched jaws, and burning Qi crackled on his fists as he split the wind like an arrow the moment he heard them insult a woman.
It couldn’t be Xian Yunxu who used spatial techniques. On the other hand, Misha could produce natural poisons, and he wouldn’t tolerate any random bastard insulting her!
"Argh!"
Mana erupted from his glowing eyes, and a flowing cape flapped behind him as his face distorted into that of a wrathful demon.
He burst through the elegant bushes, seeing a male swinging at a woman sprawled face down, her blood coloring the lush grass a bright scarlet.
"What are you doing, bastard?" His voice, icier than a tundra, echoed as he swung his fist before reaching the Vajra Monastery disciple.
BUZZ
A concentrated jet of vibration rocketed toward the man, space trembling in its wake. It collided with the sword a centimeter before it beheaded the girl.
CRACK
The metal cracked upon impact before the blade exploded into a rain of glistening sparks.
The disciple’s eye widened in shock, then horror as the strange vibrations curled onto his forearm like a coiling snake.
"W-What is this?" His voice trembled before he wailed, his deforming muscles constricting his bones until they snapped like twigs.
Yet, the real threat appeared without a sound from his dead angle—Adam’s fist, shrouded in a layer of dark gravity, already collapsed onto his face.
BAM
The head exploded into a bloody mist, the pressure beaming in a straight line until it crashed on the palace’s distant wall, showcasing Adam’s swiftly lethal assault.
But it wasn’t over. He had heard two voices. He turned to the trembling disciple, who clutched his violet arm, reading the horror in his eyes.
And he was right. Nothing would save him today.
"P-Please..." He tried to plead, yet the ground rose around him without mercy.
The soft soil condensed into hundreds of rock-like spikes, each blurring as they shot to impale him.
With a shrill cry, he attempted to warn the others from the Vajra Monastery, desperate to reveal the identity of the mage they had sensed. However, the jade slip he pulled from his spatial ring slipped from his grasp, falling to the ground as the spikes tore through his organs, silencing him instantly.
Meanwhile, Adam huffed—trying to appease his boiling rage and relax his bulging muscles.
"Whoever touches her won’t see another sunrise. You bastards better pray she’s fine, or I swear you won’t find peace in death."
With a gesture, he imprisoned their souls in transparent bubbles and turned toward the woman.
Yet, he frowned and let them go when he saw her purple hair flutter as she pushed herself off the ground. Her violet eyes sparkled, and her lips curled into a meaningful smile.
"I knew you wouldn’t resist my charms for long, junior brother! But wow!" She cupped her burning cheeks, ignoring her wounded shoulder as she imitated his voice. "Whoever touches her won’t see another sunrise. You were so cool. You’re my hero!"
He rolled his eyes at her shenanigans and almost spat blood when she called him a hero. With a click of his tongue, he glared at her misleading white robes and the five golden dragons coiling on them.
"Shut up if you don’t want to join them, Xie Lian! I thought you were, Misha."
However, she lunged at him, arms wide open, prompting him to curse and sidestep.
"No take back." She said, pointing a finger at him. "I’ll wait for you to grow up. Seven or eight years should suffice. Then, we can... we can..." Her smile broadened.
’Why did I save her?! She helped me get materials, but still. Raah.’ He gripped his forehead and shook it.
Meanwhile, Xie Lian’s eyes narrowed. "As much as I love your reactions, I can’t ignore you used those bastard mages’ mana." Her fists tightened, her Qi subtly rumbling in her meridians. "I want a thorough explanation, Adam."
He just shrugged. "What’s there to explain? You saw me cultivate and refine pills. I can use mana, too. That’s it." His tone turned playful as he pointed at the disciples’ corpses. "Why would you care if a mage, cultivator, or beast saved you, anyway? But if you’re afraid I’m linked to one of those orders I heard about, don’t worry. I’m not."
She blinked, her fists loosening a little but still suspicious. She had teased him to hide her shock. After all, it wasn’t normal for him to be stronger than core disciples, much less kill them in a heartbeat with strange elements.
Meanwhile, Adam continued. Exposed for exposed, he didn’t need to hide anything anymore. "Want proof? Remember Baldur, who went on a rampage last year? I’m the one who killed him."
Xie Lian’s mouth dropped as she pointed an accusing finger at him. "It was you! Xian Yunxu never stopped investigating the matter. That madwoman even accused me several times."
He nodded. "She can continue for all I care since I covered my tracks. Anyway, why would I kill Baldur if I was in their group? Just don’t waste my time with random stuff when I have trials to complete."
He turned and walked to the garden’s exit. Nothing would matter as long as he inherited this blessed land.
His eyes narrowed into dangerous slits. ’At worst, I’ll kill everyone inside but Misha. It’ll force Tianlong to take us as his disciples, and we’ll get the sun-grade technique.’
Xie Lian watched him walk a few steps before she shook her head. Adam was right. He had saved her, and his pills’ quality helped the inner and outer disciples tremendously.
Everyone only had praises for his honesty and laid-back personality, even her. Adding that he had killed the infamous Baldur and remained low-profiled, breaking their enjoyable friendship just because he could use mana and her suspicions based on general hate for mages sounded wrong.
With a sigh, she ran behind him. "Wait! Let me accompany you, junior brother."
’I’m fine. Leave me alone!’
However, she snorted when she saw him scramble. "I said I’ll come!"
