I Refused To Be Reincarnated -
Chapter 600: The Blessed Land Opens
Chapter 600: The Blessed Land Opens
"I’m freezing!" "What do you mean freezing? I can barely breathe this burning air!"
Adam heard the disciples’ cracking voices the moment he stepped into the valley of certain death. With a glance, he noticed a soul-chilling fog seeping into their bodies, yet a tropical fauna colored the valley in lush greens, warm yellows, and bright vermillion.
"Stay close to me, children." Xu Fei gripped his and Misha’s hand, a solemn frown creasing his brow. Even he would die if he dared venture into this godforsaken place and face a group of tier five magical beasts alone.
However, his brow rose in shock when he didn’t feel the kids tremble or sweat.
Meanwhile, Adam nodded and pointed at Tianlong, who observed each disciple’s reaction, a disappointed look in his eyes.
"The evaluation has already started. We promise not to wander, so don’t make it look like you’re covering us." He leaned closer, whispering. "Remember our physiques? We adapt to harsh environments naturally, so don’t worry about us."
Misha raised her nose, a broad grin blossoming on her lips. Underwater or in a volcano, her DNA would always find a way to adapt.
Xu Fei scratched his head, genuinely lost. "Your physiques seem a little too versatile. It’s as if you have multiple ones..." He shook his head and released their hands, banishing his curiosity. "Forget what I said. In fact, don’t reveal anything to anyone but your master."
Adam chuckled mysteriously. "No one would believe me. Anyway, Tianlong is about to speak."
The sect leader clapped his hands, his voice echoing in a commanding tone.
"The blessed land will open in an hour. Be mindful of your manners in front of the other sects." He let his words linger, his lips curling. "Before entering. Kill them on sight inside the blessed land and hoard the resources in the sect name."
Adam rolled his eyes. ’It’d better be a worthwhile trip. Imagine we find nothing but ruins inside?’
Meanwhile, Tian Long continued. "We stumbled on this blessed land forty years ago, yet no one ever stepped inside despite our attempts." His tone grew solemn, and his fists subtly tightened. "I believe a Dao Integration Realm ancestor lived there dozens of millennia ago."
The sweating disciples’ eyes sparkled at the mention of such an illustrious figure, their minds churning with dream-like sceneries and mountains of high-grade herbs, pills, weapons, and lost techniques.
Noticing their faces, the elder chuckled. "You finally get why we go with a no-mercy policy. The other sects also noticed it, but we struck a deal. Only fourteen disciples under thirty can enter." He nodded at Xian Yunxu. "With a fifteenth serving as a trump card."
Every disciple turned to Adam and Misha, black lines dripping ink creasing their brow. Why did they forfeit two spots to these kids?
’What? We’re under thirty, you fools!’
Tianlong shook his head toward Xu Fei, sighing. "Tell them to collect a few herbs and hide. They’re too young to be useful, but I won’t go back on my words."
Adam shrugged. ’Let’s see if you take a single bite of what I retrieve.’ He exchanged a glance with Misha, who nodded. ’After all, you’re the one who asked us to hide.’
As the leader opened his mouth to continue, the rustle of bushes drew everyone’s attention before a deep voice cut through the valley.
"Dream on, Tianlong. The only thing your sect will collect is dust."
Adam watched a broad man emerge, his golden-brown robes shimmering with formation-like stars. Fifteen disciples and as many elders followed behind him, their brows raised and confident smirks playing on their lips.
"Ah, Di Zang!" Tianlong sneered. "Thank you for sending the Dark Warrior Gate’s punching bags."
They gazed at each other, a tense silence hanging heavy before they both exploded into laughter.
"It’s good to see you, old friend." Di Zang cupped his fists, his sect following. "But we’re still not letting you anything."
Tianlong returned the respectful gesture. "I’m delighted to see you in such good spirits. Did you meet the others on the way?"
A feminine voice echoed above them as the sky rippled to reveal a majestic phoenix, each of its feathers glinting like a fiery tongue.
"The Crimson Flame Palace was here long before you, Tianlong."
Adam and Misha whistled as they observed a gorgeous woman with cascading crimson hair and eyes of the same color. Her delicate lips parted, her voice booming like thunder as her purple and red robes embroidered with golden phoenixes fluttered.
"None of you will get anything." She leapt down with her disciples and elders, the phoenix turning into a cute chick that perched itself on her shoulder.
"Indeed, Yan Fei." An old man wearing golden robes emerged from the forest, his eyes sparkling a metallic silver and his bald head reflecting the sun. "No one will beat the Vajra Monastery."
"We did last time, though." The last man appeared, draped in blue robes embroidered with broken blades. His blue hair fluttered before the proud disciples he led as he laughed. "I know the memory is painful, Wu Seng, but the Broken Sword Cliff never lost in a frontal competition."
Tianlong smirked. "You said it yourself, Duan Jian, in a frontal competition. Once your disciples lose their swords, they’re no better than puppies."
"Hahaha, funny. Want to find the answer in a fistfight?" Duan Jian took a battle stance, causing every disciple to gasp in horror.
If two spiritual ascension realm leaders fought beside them, the shockwaves alone would kill them all!
"Tsk. The blessed land will open any minute now, so calm down, kids." Yan Fei rolled her eyes before her tone grew darker. "We don’t know what to expect inside. Therefore, I offer a slight change of rules."
Everyone’s ears perked up as Tianlong and Duan Jian turned toward her, intrigued.
"Let’s prioritise exploration in a united block. We can always let the disciples fight for resources after ensuring progress."
"No." The other four leaders answered in unison before Tianlong explained the reason.
"Asking people who know they’ll fight to the death to ally is not the best idea. They’ll backstab and let each other die."
Adam nodded. No one would do his best to protect or save a future enemy. In fact, everyone would fight half heartedly, increasing the risks. Well, not that it mattered since he’d explore with Misha.
Meanwhile, Yan Fei snorted and turned to her disciple—a handsome man wearing the same robe she did. "No mercy, Ye Feng."
Adam’s fists trembled, his breath hitching in his throat when he heard the name. ’That bastard who stole my first place in the tower ranking?’ A vicious glint flashed in his eyes. ’Pray we don’t meet inside.’
Of course, he wouldn’t kill him. But he had to crush him to recover his confidence. After all, he had never said he knew he could be the best since that day...
As the corner of his lips curled upward, every sect leader turned like a single man, their eyes narrowed into slits.
"The blessed land is opening," Tianlong muttered.
CRACK
Reality cracked open, the scenery shattering into glistening shards as a dark vortex manifested. Suspended in mid-air and swirling like a black hole, it released a potent herbal scent as if to give them a preview of the wonders they’d discover inside.
The last sliver of civility tying the leaders snapped as they all roared to lunge inside.
Adam watched everyone scramble before he turned to Xu Fei. "See you later, elder."
Then, holding Misha’s hand, he ran leisurely behind the other disciples before he vanished into the vortex, eager to plunder this blessed land and break Ye Feng.
