I Refused To Be Reincarnated
Chapter 597: The Price of Miracles

Chapter 597: The Price of Miracles

Time slowly passed in the Jin Long sect, each day bringing discoveries, fun, and new relationships.

The Golden Dragon’s Pearl’s reputation soared under Adam’s constant supply and honest management, even more so now that he sold tier three and four pills of heaven-defying quality.

With sect points flowing into his card and the materials he collected on each expedition, he forged a brand-new blade for Misha and brewed the life-extending potion.

However, troubles struck him, too. With his rapid ascension through the arena ranks and his unheard record of 150 wins for zero losses against disciples three realms higher than him, he drew the scrutiny of many core elders.

Some had offered him and Misha to become their disciples like Wang Hao had, while others sent their disciples to spy on him. Both approaches made him roll his eyes and click his tongue, especially when they mentioned Shen’s condition with gloating smiles.

But they were right.

The devoted man did his best to guide him and Misha, but his health rapidly deteriorated.

Confined to his bed, he had endured his rotting bones and failing liver for a year until the curses reached his lungs a few days ago, forcing his body into a coma. But everyone knew he would never wake up again.

Even now, Adam infiltrated his house in the middle of the night and observed Mei Lan’s tears trail down her wrinkled face.

’She’ll probably die of grief in a few days...’ His lips twisted, and his eyes dulled slightly. Such a devoted woman. Her motherly care reminded him of Alina.

’Don’t cry too much,’ he muttered, a steely glint flashing in his eyes. ’I’ll flee at worse, but I’ll save you both.’

That’s why he had waited for so long. No one could catch him using magic, but he refused to watch by the sidelines when he could help them... even if he lost his opportunity to get the leader’s sun-grade technique.

’I really became soft.’ His lips curled into a gentle smile as his mana circuits roared to life.

A sleeping gas swirled out of his palm and rushed into Mei Lan’s nostrils. Her head wobbled before her snores echoed in the silent room.

’The elders probably felt the disturbance. I can’t waste a second.’

He dashed to her, opened her mouth, and forced a vial of red liquid down her throat.

Her body trembled and heated in his hands, the potent liquid infiltrating her old cells and worn DNA.

Wrinkles peeled away, revealing fresh, supple skin glistening under the moonlight. As her back straightened, the bun holding her white hair came undone, cascading down in a beautiful pale blue wave

In the blink of an eye, the old lady became a slender and beautiful young woman, looking no older than twenty. But why would he stop when he had identified another problem?

His expression turned serious.

Eyes narrowed in focus and gripping a dan tian releasing frosty air, he condensed a mana scalpel and cut her belly open. With a wave of his hand, mana tubes condensed to redirect the blood as he studied her renewed meridians and the void where her dan tian should have been.

He grafted the new one before he stitched the meridian with Qi threads that would help her adapt to it and fade over time. Finally, his hand glowed a blinding white light encased in a green hue releasing a refreshing natural scent as he passed it over her wound.

It was a simple procedure for him, but doing it on someone he was close to with the incoming elders added unwanted mental pressure. Still, he took a second to monitor her vitals before a relieved sigh escaped his curling lips.

"Perfect," he whispered, turning to Shen. "Your turn."

He placed a hand on the man’s rickety and pale torso as his fingers turned ethereal. As if made of pure mana, they phased beneath the skin, muscles, and bones, reaching the lungs.

Eyes glowing sky-blue, he saw the roots of the curses and their weaknesses. With a snap of his fingers, he grabbed and shattered them, one after another.

But a voice cut through the night, interrupting him.

"It comes from Shen’s house! A mage infiltrated the sect to finish the job now that he’s weak!"

An elder roared before he recognised Xu Fei’s enraged voice.

"You evil bastard! I’ll get revenge for my brothers, even if it’s the last thing I do!"

Adam gritted his teeth, condensing an aggressive light inside Shen’s body.

Considering Shen’s weakened state, he hadndn’t wanted to use this method and do it manually.

’I used mana two minutes ago, but they already found me?! Shit. Sorry for the pain, Shen, but you’ll recover at least.’

The light burst outward, dissolving the curses in their radiance. Yet, Shen’s neck tensed, the bones visible as his body convulsed and his eyelids trembled.

With a last apologetic glance to ensure Shen was out of danger, he clicked his tongue and punched the air, missing the man’s eyes snapping open.

CRACK

Space collapsed like glass as his mana circuits rumbled, creating a huge sky-blue vortex around him.

All the surrounding mana disappeared inside, absorbed by his circuits and erasing any trace of use as he leapt through the cracked space.

BAM

As the space reformed behind him, the room’s door flew out of its hinges as Xu Fei stormed in, golden Qi dragons twirling around his enraged face and his glinting battle ax.

"You won’t escape, mage scum!" He roared, about to punch through the recovering space to deal a devastating blow to the retreating mage.

However, his ax froze mid-air, and his pupils trembled as Shen coughed and rushed before him, bedsheets flying. "Brother?"

Simultaneously, the cracked space healed, sealing Adam’s escape as the other elders bolted into the room.

"No!" Xu Fei roared, his veins throbbing and his face distorted like a demon. "I had him! Why did you move, brother?!"

Yun grabbed his shoulder and shook his head. "You’re asking the wrong question. Don’t let your hate blind you, and focus on what’s in front of you. How can he move?"
