Chapter 589: The Thrill of the Sale
Chapter 589: The Thrill of the Sale
"Hahaha! See this, Misha!" Adam’s fists cut above his head, his childish smile brightening the shop. "We made our first sale!"
Misha clapped her hands, her eager voice echoing his delight.
"Congratulations! I hope we’ll sell tons!"
He dashed at her and cupped her warm hands, his eyes softening as they met hers.
"Wanna switch roles? I mean, I’ll get someone outside, and you try to sell?"
He saw her raise a brow and heard her mischievous tone.
"Why? Tired already?"
"When I’m having this much fun? No way!" He chuckled. "I just don’t want you to get bored watching. Also, you’ve got to experience the thrill of concluding sales and collecting points too!"
Despite his eagerness, Misha gazed at him for a moment before she shook her head.
"I’m fine watching, really." She freed her hands and passed her arm over his shoulder, leading him to the door. "I’ll keep the shop while you find a customer. Good luck."
He watched her wave her hand by the doorway as he returned to the street. Well, he understood her reasons since alchemy never interested her. And this made her support all the more heartwarming to him.
’I can’t disappoint her.’ His eyes scanned the many disciples passing by the broad street—all potential customers. ’I’ll bring a ton and buy her whatever she likes. Humm. She asked for a weapon last time. That’ll come first. I mean, after paying off our six hundred points debt...’
With renewed determination, he whistled to a group of four disciples window-shopping on the other side of the street. He followed their gazes, noticing they drooled over a gorgeous blade that rested over a wooden display while one of them tapped his foot impatiently.
"I just want to buy a Qi-gathering pill, guys. Let’s go to old Fu instead of wasting time." He clicked his tongue at his friends. "I already told you we’ll never save enough to buy a weapon like this."
The oldest of the group, an outer disciple about fifteen years old, snickered.
"What do you know? I just need to break through to the golden core realm. By then, I’ll make a fortune by completing Elder Fei’s missions."
As the impatient disciple rolled his eyes, Adam cleared his throat behind him to draw his attention. Then, he pointed at his shop with a bright smile.
"Sorry, senior disciples, but I overheard your plan to buy a Qi-gathering pill. Since your friends want to look at this blade a little longer, why don’t you check mine? They’re fresh and of the highest quality. I guarantee you won’t waste your time."
Upon seeing Adam’s age, the disciple’s hand rose to wave him off dismissively. However, his movement halted cold once he caught the two stars on his alchemist’s robes. Instead, his pupils constricted. How could a kid be an official alchemist? Was this a scam? No... the risks weren’t worth it. At best, the alchemy unions would fill a formal complaint to kick the fool out. At worst... well, he might see his stiff corpse fed to the forest beasts.
More intrigued by his age than his products, he nodded. "Show me your shop, little brother. I’ll consider buying a pill if they’re as good as old Fu’s."
As he moved to follow the kid, his friends gripped his shoulder and winked.
"Want to build a relationship with a young alchemist? You can’t leave us out!"
Without asking for his opinion, they rushed behind Adam and entered the shop before him.
"Tsk. What great friends."
With a grumble, he stepped inside and observed Adam, who stood between four displays showcasing different pills.
Meanwhile, Adam’s brow rose at the intruders before he shrugged. Maybe they’d buy something, too, after witnessing his incredible products.
Without wasting a second, he pointed at the green and gold pill and began introducing it.
However, he posed mid-sentence and chuckled at their expressions. Eyes wide, and mouth open, they understood the quality unlike the girl from earlier. Perhaps because they were older?
Meanwhile, the oldest disciple leaned over the price tag and pinched his check before he blurted out. "No way... Only forty points for this?! My god, there are some made with poison. They’re much more effective!"
Without wasting a second, he reached for the disciple card dangling at his belt and continued.
"I’ll take the two violets!"
His friends frowned at the impulsive purchase and tried to warn him about the risks. Yet, he shrugged. No, he regretted he didn’t have enough to buy them all.
"You have a keen eye, senior. The poisonous ones are indeed more effective, and the quality..." He turned to the others, who tried to stop him. "Well, I don’t want to sound arrogant, but you’ll absorb about eighty-five percent of the medicinal properties and Qi from my pills compared to thirty percent from your usual ones."
"You don’t have to convince me, little brother. Let those ignorant fools miss golden opportunities while I leave them in the dust." The oldest flashed his Qi-infused jade card, transferring the eighty sect points without batting an eye.
Adam nodded and produced the two piles from his spatial ring, shocking him further.
"Wait, you have more?"
"Yeah. Those on the displays are just for the customers to see. I won’t sell them since they might get contaminated."
"..."
They all observed him, more shocked than ever. This care, these pills—there was no way a kid refined them alone. He must have an exceptional master helping him set up the shop.
Convinced by their deductions and afraid the master wouldn’t produce pills or would increase the price after the shop settled, they each bought a pill, making Adam grin from ear to ear.
"Thank you for your purchases, seniors! Don’t forget to advertise the shop to your friends if you like my products. I still have hundreds of pills, after all."
"We will!" The group answered in unison and cupped their fists respectfully, each planning to bring a few people to leave a good impression on Adam and perhaps get to meet his master one day.
Once they left, Adam whistled and went to the second floor, where Misha cultivated cross-legged.
"We’ve already collected two hundred and twenty points—one-third of our debt—sister. We might reimburse Shen by tonight!"
Misha opened her golden eyes and chuckled.
"Did you doubt it?"
He scratched his head before he exploded into laughter.
"Sorry, sorry. You’re right. It’s just the thrill of concluding a sale. It’s a first for me, you know?"
"I know." She smiled softly. "Want me to find more customers before lunch? Maybe I’ll find a few wealthy ones among the inner disciples."
"Sure. I’ll wait inside then." He stretched his hand out, helped her stand up, and accompanied her to the door. "See you later."
As Misha left and he took his place behind his counter, the girl who had bought his first pill trembled on her cottage’s floor.
Sweat cascaded down from every pore in a murky pool as her hot breath billowed above her. A sensation of vitality and incredible strength coursed in her twitching muscles. No, it was better than that. She squeezed the leg chair behind her to try.
CRACK
Her eyes widened under the flying splinters.
"H-How? I squeezed lightly!" Eyes wide, she passed her palm over her smooth skin, her shock increasing. "He didn’t lie to me! I should have bought two pills! I-I must tell my sisters before more people learn about the shop and empty his stock!"
She leapt to her feet, ready to leave, before a disgusting scent attracted her attention. Gazing down, she blushed and rushed to the bathroom.
"I’ll wash and dress up first..."
