Chapter 567: Reclaimed Power and Return to the Tower
After Mei Lan guided them to a cosy bedroom permeated with the fragrance of fresh soap and wooden incense, Adam hugged Misha and kissed her forehead.
"Sweet dreams, Misha. Sleep well, big sister."
An electric shiver ran down her spine as she shuddered in his warm embrace, her heart racing in delight. These emotions of safety and genuine love were ones she had only ever felt with Adam.
"You too, Adam. I hope everything goes smoothly for you."
He pulled back, his lips curling into a smug grin. "Of course it will. I won’t let you have to worry."
He pushed his wooden bed against hers, creating a larger sleeping space.
Smiling, they slid under the bedsheets, their hands and fingers locked as they fell asleep.

As usual, he opened his eyes in his soul sea a moment later. Fresh winds carried the scent of the forest, making the plain’s grass sway gently before him. In the distance, the revitalised silver fruit tree reached for the silver moon, casting a long shadow over the liquid pool of green fire. In its middle, the annoying demonic cleaver vibrated with his appearance.
"Liar! Oathbreaker! You treacherous human!"
The cleaver’s insidious whispers veiled the dreamy landscape with a layer of darkness. He shrugged, unbothered by the scene. After all, it had been the same for the past seven years.
"Yes, yes. Shut up now, will you? I must focus on breaking the cow’s seals."
The cleaver snorted in rage, but what could it do besides pester Adam? It knew he hadn’t broken their contract. Still, when did anyone dare to toy with demons when Paimon himself sealed their deal?
No. It had to wash away this insult by making him dread returning to his soul sea. But not now. After all, it was still bound and couldn’t harm Adam, even indirectly. Therefore, it suppressed its anger and made an exception for tonight.
Meanwhile, Adam cracked his neck and closed his eyes. Enjoying the rare silence, he stretched his focus to the limit. A mental image of his body’s inner workings formed as the cow’s explanation reverberated in his mind.
"Even if the enrollment tests look basic, they’re stringent and extensive. So long as you have more than ten units of Qi, they’ll refuse you. As for mana..."
He remembered her somber smirk.
"Death is the easy way out. No, they’ll torture you to find out who sent you to spy on them. That’s why we’ll put a fourfold seal on you. One will seal your Qi, the other your mana, while the last two conceal their fluctuations and your elements. But don’t worry. You can wipe them after enrolling." She chuckled. "If anyone asks, tell them how talented you are and that you can prove it in the arena if they don’t believe you. A few slaps never failed to shut nosy cultivators. Hahaha."
He laughed at her boisterous shenanigans, already missing her.
Though she had also explained how to remove the seal with the limited energy he had, he ignored her method, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.
"I can see everything the world has to offer."
With each second crawling by, he added more details to his mental image. Energy flow, the workings of the seals, his mythical organs—nothing escaped his gaze, and along with them came their natural defects.
Following the detestable Gaston’s example, he focused on them, manipulating his energy carefully to corrode the seals without damaging the rest.
Sweat dripped down his temples as he attacked the pulsing symbols and cursed under his breath.
’It should take no longer than a second, but with so little energy...’
He sighed, annoyance creasing his brows. After two minutes, he needed a one-minute pause to replenish his Qi. Although it was the blink of an eye compared to other cultivators, thanks to his fabulous dan tian’s absorption speed, he still couldn’t help but shake his head.
’No matter the reason, I won’t let anyone seal my strength again. I feel so... empty.’
Determined to recover everything he owned, he resumed his relentless assault on the seal.
An hour later, the seal locking his Qi shattered first, fixing his replenishment problem. Without it, he breezed through the second seal in forty minutes, regaining his elemental affinities. Then? He smirked and used one of the elements he had trained the most in the last seven years: vibrations.
Upon activating it, the symbols vibrated in a frenzied dance before they shattered into a sea of bright dust in a single minute.

His mana hummed, then flared, spewing sky-blue particles into the sky. They hummed on their descent, drizzling before evaporating onto the plain as he clenched his fists in delight. Energies coursed through his veins, and the elements danced around him in a grand spectacle to hail his recovery as he thundered.
"I’m back!"
"Good for you, you little shit. Now, bring me my statue!"
"Tsk." Before his delight could settle, the hateful cleaver had already resumed whispering nonsense. "Aren’t you made of a fragment of Aamon’s soul? How can you act so immature?" He kicked the ground, his brows twitching. "Seriously, do you really think whining will speed up getting that damn statue?"
However, the cleaver didn’t want to hear anything. He was a scammer, according to it, and it would continue. So, instead of wasting mental strength here, he lept through the humming vortex and stepped into the dream place.
As dreary as usual, the red moon glowed on his youthful face and reflected off his sky-blue hair.
He watched the earthling cultivator scramble through the plaza, visiting merchandise-filled stands.
Weapons, pills, or even unobtainable cultivation techniques, they sold everything anyone would need to improve—of course, for a ridiculous amount of spiritual stones.
But he couldn’t waste time observing them. After all, these crazy fools wanted him dead ever since they saw him use mana seven years ago.
He snorted as he blurred past the statue of Prometheus standing guard in front of the tower. Then, he touched the towering construct’s gate.
With a hum, a bright flash of light engulfed his figure as he vanished from the plaza and reappeared inside the tower’s boundless white room.
An ethereal window he hadn’t seen in the last ten years appeared before him the next moment as if impatient to greet a long-lost friend.
But he rolled his eyes at it. Still, he had to level up and increase his tier for tomorrow’s expedition. Therefore, he’d challenge the fourth floor tonight. He’d then continue after a month’s break if Luna made him the delightful surprise of not traumatising him with bizarre locations like Ignatius’ lab or, worse—a place filled with bears.
He chuckled, feeling it was maybe time to forgive the species after so long, as he read the notifications.
[Welcome to the tower of trials. Prove your skills and mastery by conquering its floors.]
[A reward tailored for the challenger will be awarded after each successful conquest.]
[Warning: Half the damage sustained during the trials will be carried to your body outside the Dream place. Be careful, challengers.]
[The tower’s first trial will begin in thirty seconds. Prepare yourself, challenger.]
His eyes widened, and his heart raced against his chest after reading.
"The first floor?! It’s reset, too?" Confused, he clenched his fists in eagerness and raised them above his head. "Prepare the rewards, baby. I’m here to claim them!"
