I Refused To Be Reincarnated
Chapter 531: The Unmatched Cultivator

Chapter 531: The Unmatched Cultivator

"Do you think it’ll work now that I know you target souls? I’m a cultivator who surpassed the Soul Transformation Realm. I have no weakness!"

Lin Yao’s amused snort echoed as his blade, a stream of silver, flashed back to meet the spectral scythe.

CLKING

Their weapons collided, the impact sending a tremor shaking Ossian’s soul to its core.

Despite his muted stupor and the dangerous counter-attack he would face, the ghost emperor scanned the man, bypassing his body to look at his soul. And what he saw caused his neck to tense, pupils to constrict and shoulders to shudder.

"How is your soul fused to your body?!"

He had seen millions of different sane and evil ghosts. Regular humans and beasts counted in the billions in his millennia-long life. Yet, he had never seen a soul and living body that had become one!

That should have never happened! These two entities complemented and protected each other. But Lin Yao did it somehow. Even worse, with how thoroughly they were fused, his advantage on the field, and his devastating soul attacks became jokes because... Lin Yao could be considered a living ghost emperor.

"How are you so powerful? What kind of monster are you?!"

His voice cracked, terror and unwillingness melding in it as his arms gave in and his feet left the ground.

His body pierced the wind like a bullet as he flew in the distance for the second time.

Without gazing at Ossian’s figure and chuckling in the face of challenges, Lin Yao turned towards the colossal raven and the emperor.

"Me? A cultivator in the Void Refinement Realm! Hahaha."

With Ossian and the behemoth incapacitated, he was back to one versus two.

’If I can keep half out, I’ll win!’

Lips curling into a victorious smile, he crouched, his thighs doubling in volume under his Qi’s augmentation as the melted rocks splintered under his feet.

The wind battered against his face and hair the next second as he propelled himself several kilometers up, appearing right before the creature.

He noticed the proud man shudder, the fabric of his regal robes and the golden depictions of all the beasts he had conquered trembling with him. Was it fear? Anger?

Probably both.

"Who would have thought? The mighty Beast Emperor who looks down on the world and the magus himself trembling in his boots before me, a foreigner, despite your allies and ambush! Hahaha!"

The emperor’s cracking teeth echoed as blood rushed to his eyes and his veins bulged on his forehead.

Was he afraid? Him?!

His clenched fist trembled around his obsidian staff, and his mana flared as he denied the truth.

"Even if gods existed and walked the lands, I wouldn’t fear them!"

A defiant roar pierced the sky as the raven’s beak plunged towards Lin Yao.

Dark winds releasing the scent of forbidden curses swirled around its sharp teeth, promising a painful demise if they grazed his skin.

He grinned, a steely glint flashing in his green eyes as he swung his Qi-imbued blade, the tip pointing into the creature’s gaping beak.

"Nèizàng cuīhu."

Multicolored Qi burst out in a torrent of energy that flooded into the creature. More insidious than a curse and lethal than a demonic poison, it coursed through its system, devastating its organs.

SHRIEK

Before it could close its beak to shred him, the raven contorted in pain, blood gushing from its orifices as its stomach and intestines ruptured. Like a puppet seeing its strings cut, it collapsed from the sky before Adam’s twitching brows.

"I understand your language! You’re clearly inventing names on the spot!"

Internal organs destroy? There was no way anyone would come up with something so lacking in style.

Still, from his spectator’s spot, his soul couldn’t help but shudder in awe and trepidation while his thoughts raced.

When the behemoth appeared, he shook his head. Any prospect of seeing Lin Yao emerge as the victor vanishing. Yet, against his expectations, there he stood, fighting not three but four tier-seven entities on equal ground.

’He’s improving with each second as if he’s discovering and learning to wield his powers. Are cultivators overbearing, or is Lin Yao an unequalled genius?’

Eyes sparkling and leaning forward, he shook his head, dismissing the first option.

’Unlike mana users, no one tampered with cultivation. Therefore, he has a complete path to power, making him versatile beyond reason. But like magic practitioners, individual talent and effort are still critical, or everyone would stand at the peak.’

His lips curled into a warm smile, and his fists tightened, trembling in yearning.

"I’ll find a way to become one, too. But first, I hope he’ll defeat the emperor and snuff out the threat he poses to the world. Dot it, Lin Yao!"

As the chaotic battle noises engulfed his cheers, dust and melted rocks rained upon the battlefield. Winds howled next with the colossal raven’s crash. Its wailings, haunting cries, resounded throughout the country as it fought against the invading energy and tried to regenerate its organs.

However, the emperor stood strong, his staff tightly clutched in his hand and his blue eyes wafting wisps of condensed mana. Every fiber of his body turned as heavy as lead. Yet, a vicious smile split his face as he struck his staff on the ground.

"It’s over, Lin Yao! Continental fusion spell: Seismic Sundown."

RUMBLE

Wild tremors rocked the country’s every corner, forcing everyone to tremble on their knees. centuries-old buildings collapsed along mountains that had overlooked the land since immemorial times and would have continued for millennia if not for the emperor’s madness.

Sleeping volcanoes roared to life, their mouths spewing scalding lava that burned everything in its wake. Tsunamis and storms rose, charging with mad abandon to devastate the country’s coasts and engulf the continent itself.

Simultaneously, the ground cracked open under Lin Yao’s feet, boulders collapsing into a bottomless abyss spanning ten kilometers.

"Fall into oblivion!"

The emperor roared, leathery wings sprouting on his back as he lunged to take refuge in the sky after using a forbidden spell of extreme proportions and causing the collision of two tectonic plates without remorse.
