Chapter 419 - Chapter 419 Chapter 415 Encounter with the Store Manager

Chapter 419: Chapter 415: Encounter with the Store Manager Chapter 419: Chapter 415: Encounter with the Store Manager “Princess Your Highness, we’ve been exposed.”

Taotie stopped in his tracks and looked towards Fang Xiaocao.

Hearing this, Fang Xiaocao was stunned.

She asked doubtfully, “How do you know?”

Fang Xiaocao didn’t quite believe Taotie’s words.

They had just entered; how long had it been?

They hadn’t done anything yet, so how could they have been exposed?

Taotie lifted his hand, pointing at the camera overhead, and said helplessly, “It told me.”

Fang Xiaocao followed Taotie’s finger with her eyes.

The lens of the infrared camera was almost up against her face.

Fang Xiaocao was somewhat speechless and cursed inwardly, “Are they crazy? In such harsh desert conditions, power is so hard to come by, and they still installed surveillance?”

Glancing up at the camera, Fang Xiaocao rolled her eyes, flicked her wrist, and a hidden weapon shot out, instantly severing the electric wire: “Are you trying to beautify us with that non-stop clicking?”

Now that their cover was blown, Fang Xiaocao didn’t bother hiding anymore and boldly charged forward: “Keep moving forward, we’re taking over this place.”

Hearing Fang Xiaocao’s words, Taotie’s eyebrows raised in excitement: “Alright.”

Taotie, holding his knife, took the lead.

No longer needing to tread carefully to conceal their tracks, they sped up significantly.

Fang Xiaocao with a gun in one hand and a hidden weapon in the other, followed behind Taotie. She glanced at Brainless beside her, hesitated for a moment, then said, “Brainless, go hunt freely, no need to leave any survivors.”

Brainless’ eyes lit up, and he immediately perked up, “swooshed” out, climbing the walls, overtaking Taotie, and ran off in a flash.

In the blink of an eye, he vanished around the corner.

The next second–

Bang bang bang–

Intense gunfire came from around the corner.

There were also human screams and exclamations.

Fang Xiaocao and Taotie looked at each other, their faces confused.

“Not good!”

“There’s an ambush ahead, quick, save Brainless.”

Fang Xiaocao snapped to her senses, exclaiming.

Taotie nodded and hurried off.

Fang Xiaocao followed close behind.

By the time Fang Xiaocao and Taotie reached the corner, the gunfire and screaming had ceased.

Fang Xiaocao and Taotie exchanged looks, their expressions growing solemn, knowing this was not a good sign.

“Brainless isn’t dead.”

Fang Xiaocao said somberly.

Fang Xiaocao could still feel the mental bond between her and Brainless.

This meant Brainless was still alive.

Upon hearing this, Taotie pressed against the wall, peeked around the corner, and exclaimed in amazement, “Holy shit, impressive.”

Fang Xiaocao was taken aback and also peeked around.

She was dumbfounded.

“Did Brainless do this?”

Fang Xiaocao asked in surprise.

Taotie nodded: “Who else?”

“Besides Brainless, who else could it be.”

Behind the corner, the corridor was littered with bodies lying in all directions, roughly a dozen or so at a glance, while Brainless was long gone.

“Damn, that guy is really strong.”

“In terms of killing speed, even I am no match for him.”

Taotie looked at the bodies and commented.

Fang Xiaocao nodded in agreement.

“Brainless isn’t afraid of bullets?”

Fang Xiaocao looked at the bullet holes around her and voiced her inner confusion.

Dozens of armed enemies had failed to kill Brainless, who’d instead turned the tables and killed them.

It was utterly unbelievable.

Xiaocao could hardly imagine how Brainless had managed it.

Taotie looked around and, as a combat veteran, quickly pieced together the battle scene in his mind, grinning, “These guys had poor marksmanship, Brainless was fast, panicked, they didn’t aim, just sprayed bullets wildly, while Brainless could climb walls and move swiftly; the bullets couldn’t catch up to him.”

As he spoke, Taotie pointed upwards.

Xiaocao looked up and saw bullet holes above as well, along with the traces of Brainless’s passage.

With wide-eyed amazement, Xiaocao exclaimed, “Isn’t this like Spider-Man?”

Taotie nodded in agreement, “Want to learn.”

With Brainless clearing the way, Xiaocao suddenly found the prospect of being discovered quite relaxing.

She and Tom had been walking for a long time and hadn’t encountered a single enemy. Everywhere they passed were corpses left behind by Brainless.

Xiaocao pulled out a locator and pressed a button, “We’re deep enough, let’s see where the vault is?”

Taotie nodded, pulled out a terminal from his coat, and tapped it a few times, “Directly beneath us there’s a strong metal reaction; it should be right under our feet.”

Xiaocao raised an eyebrow, “Let’s go!”

The vault was in front of them; Xiaocao and Taotie quickened their pace, following the corridor downwards and soon found the staircase leading underground.

“Princess Your Highness, Brainless hasn’t come this way; should we go find him?”

Taotie asked gravely.

Xiaocao shook her head, “No need.”

“But be careful; there should still be enemies below, and they are experts.”

“The ones above are just small fry, there to deal with ordinary intruders. The real big fish are guarding below; don’t take them lightly.”

Xiaocao didn’t believe that the Pawnshop, guarding such a large vault, had only sent these nobodies.

Not a single competent expert among them.

“Don’t worry, without Brainless, let me handle it. Whatever expert they have, I’ll chop them to pieces,” Taotie said, his grin revealing a ferocious smile.

Saying that, Taotie slung his blade over his shoulder and led the way down the staircase.

Xiaocao shook her head helplessly and quickly followed, worried that Taotie’s recklessness would get him into trouble.

Taotie was the embodiment of impulsiveness in real life.

His body was always quicker than his mind.

Fiercely strong, his brute force could overcome numerous foes.

But he was also prone to hotheadedness.

Against the likes of Tom, a smart and strategic foe, Taotie could easily be outwitted to death.

Xiaocao and Taotie made their way downstairs, not once obstructed by an enemy.

The more unimpeded their progress, the more cautious Xiaocao became, each step taken with utmost care.

Suddenly, Taotie stretched out a hand to stop Xiaocao, “There’s a killing intent ahead, an expert.”

Xiaocao blinked, looking forward.

The corridor was eerily empty, not a soul in sight.

She turned to Taotie, puzzled.

“It’s above!”

Taotie pointed overhead.

Xiaocao looked up and saw a man wearing a black and gold Store Manager’s outfit sitting on a beam, drinking.

Feeling Xiaocao’s gaze, the man looked down at her and smiled slightly, “It’s a pleasure to have friends come from afar. Miss Fang, I didn’t expect you to find this place.”

Xiaocao looked up towards the man, “You know me?”

The man smiled faintly, “I know of you, but this is the first time we meet. Fang Xiaocao, you’ve taken down one of our branches, quite the figure indeed. I’m fortunate to meet you; you certainly have not disappointed.”

Before Xiaocao could respond, Taotie stepped forward, the sword pointing towards the man, “Why waste words? Hurry down here and face the blade. I’m in a hurry.”

The man regarded Taotie with a laugh, “Taotie, the Blacklist high-ranking codename member, the man of the current Sect Master of the Tomb Raider Sect, and also Miss Fang’s capable right hand–Taotie, your identities are as many as they are impressive. I wonder if the Blacklist is aware of this?”
