I Received Messages From Future Self!
Chapter 393 - Chapter 393 Chapter 389 The Eyes in the Dark

Chapter 393: Chapter 389 The Eyes in the Dark Chapter 393: Chapter 389 The Eyes in the Dark Fang Xiaocao: “I know what to do now. Inform me immediately if there’s any new development, so I can prepare early.”

Fang Xiaocao sent this message to Hot Noodles.

Hot Noodles: “Don’t worry. As long as it’s something that threatens your life, I’ll definitely tell you in advance. If it doesn’t endanger your life, then you’re on your own.”

Looking at Hot Noodles’ message, Fang Xiaocao shook her head helplessly.

She knew that Hot Noodles wanted her to grow up quickly.

After ending the conversation with Hot Noodles, Fang Xiaocao drew back into her sleeping bag but couldn’t fall asleep anymore; her mind was filled with thoughts about the crisis that might arise in the camp.

Fang Xiaocao still understood her future self quite well. If it weren’t genuinely dangerous and life-threatening, Hot Noodles wouldn’t have said so much to her.

Brainless and Unhappy would both die because of a woman named Chen Xiao, indicating how perilous the situation must have been.

It must be a crisis where a slight oversight could lead to an unmarked grave.

“Ah…”

Fang Xiaocao sighed, climbed out of her sleeping bag, donned her gear neatly, and unzipped the tent to step out.

A sandstorm had just passed, and the air was still filled with the unique smell of sand and dust.

Fang Xiaocao took a deep breath, only to start coughing incessantly.

Shasha shasha–

The sound of an animal moving quickly across the sandy ground reached her, and Fang Xiaocao immediately went on high alert, pulling out several hidden weapons and holding them in her hand.

Her eyes scanned the area vigilantly.

Soon, a figure of Big Horse Lou came into view.

Fang Xiaocao let out a sigh of relief.

This Big Horse Lou was Brainless.

Fang Xiaocao opened the door of a pickup truck and sat down. Brainless squatted in front of the vehicle, tilting his head and looking at Fang Xiaocao as if wondering what she was doing.

Looking at Brainless, recalling what Hot Noodles had said–Brainless would be killed by Chen Xiao while protecting her–Fang Xiaocao felt a pang in her heart. Where else could she find such a devoted Big Horse Lou? She was determined to make Chen Xiao pay with blood for blood.

She took out a stick of jerky from her pocket and handed it to Brainless, who took the jerky and started gnawing on it while squatting on the ground.

Swoosh–

A dark shadow flashed by.

Unhappy squatted at Fang Xiaocao’s feet with a clearly unhappy expression, blinking his large eyes at her, seemingly reproaching Fang Xiaocao for playing favorites.

Fang Xiaocao smiled slightly and, as if performing a magic trick, produced another stick of camel jerky and tossed it to Unhappy, who was still showing his displeasure.

Unhappy caught the jerky and started munching on it.

He looked just like a greedy Big Horse Lou.

As Fang Xiaocao interacted with Brainless and Unhappy, the predawn darkness quietly receded, and the wash of daybreak on the horizon grew brighter, swiftly dispelling the last traces of the early morning gloom.

Fang Xiaocao stretched lazily, got out of the pickup, and began to move her slightly stiff limbs, performing a few stretching exercises.

Around her, tents unzipped, and Taotie came out with his father-in-law, Liu Yishou, followed by the bewildered Wen Shi and the limping Thousand Faces.

Looking at her subordinates, Fang Xiaocao felt she should communicate with Taotie to keep an eye on Liu Yishou and stay vigilant at all times, lest Taotie, that simple blockhead, be caught off guard and outsmarted by Liu Yishou.

With this thought, Fang Xiaocao patted Brainless and Unhappy to indicate they should go off and play. Then she walked over to where Taotie and the others were.

“Liu Yishou, take the map and determine our bearings. After breakfast, we’ll set off and continue on our journey,” Fang Xiaocao instructed Liu Yishou.

“Yes!”

Liu Yishou nodded and responded.

Taking his compass and map, he mounted a camel and rode out of the camp.

Seeing Liu Yishou walk away, Fang Xiaocao turned to Thousand Faces and started sizing him up with a tilted head, which sent a shiver down Thousand Faces’ spine, almost making him kneel and beg for mercy.

Fang Xiaocao’s castrating kick was a fresh memory for Thousand Faces, one that had left psychological scars.

“Are you feeling guilty about something?” Fang Xiaocao asked with a smile.

“No!”

“Absolutely not!”

Thousand Faces shook his head as if it were a rattle drum.

Seeing Thousand Faces’ cowardly reaction, Fang Xiaocao smiled slightly, “Take Wen Shi and go make breakfast for everyone. Cook some jerky. It’s hard to regain energy just by eating compressed biscuits.”

Thousand Faces nodded repeatedly, “Yes!”

Thousand Faces was smart; he knew Fang Xiaocao wanted to speak to Taotie alone. He immediately took the hint and led Wen Shi to the side.

“Taotie, keep an eye on Liu Yishou. I’ve got a strange feeling about him this time I came back. Stay alert, and don’t let the ship capsize in a gutter.”

Fang Xiaocao got straight to the point.

Hearing Fang Xiaocao’s words, Taotie was taken aback.

“Really?”

“How come I didn’t notice?”

Taotie asked, puzzled.

He had some admiration for Liu Yishou. Although a bit of a weakling, he still had some shining points. Taotie had even thought about suggesting to Fang Xiaocao to keep Liu Yishou close after getting out of the desert.

Fang Xiaocao glared at Taotie, “Just do what I tell you to do. Why are you talking so much nonsense? It’s even better if he has no issues, but if he does, then at least we’re prepared and won’t fall for any ambushes.”

Taotie smirked and nodded, “Alright, I’ll listen to Princess Your Highness.”

Taotie had thick skin and was tough to chew.

He was used to being scolded by Fang Xiaocao.

“Do you plan to keep tying up your father-in-law like a leashed dog forever?” Fang Xiaocao looked at Jiang Ziyao, who sat obediently at Taotie’s feet, tied with a rope.

“I don’t have a choice. By tying him up and keeping him close, I can ensure his safety, prevent him from getting lost, or being stealthily slaughtered by someone.”

“If I lose him again, Xinyan will surely skin me alive back home and make me kneel on remote controls.” Taotie said with a helpless expression.

Fang Xiaocao thought about it and felt he had a point.

The desert was fraught with dangers, and oddities lurked at every turn. One could never tell how many unknown threats were hidden in the shadows.

Taotie’s actions, although desperate, were better than losing Jiang Ziyao.

Even though Jiang Xinyan loved Taotie intensely, she would not go easy on him when she needed to handle him. Kneeling on durians, kneeling on remote controls, those were all basic penalties for him.

Thinking of this, Fang Xiaocao shook her head and silently sighed in her heart, “This poor bloke Taotie, he’s really under the thumb at home.”

“Alright, remember what I’ve told you, and don’t forget. Now go, take your father-in-law and scram, don’t dawdle in front of me, it’s annoying just to look at you.”

Fang Xiaocao waved her hand dismissively, indicating that Taotie should disappear quickly.

“Haha…”

Taotie chuckled roguishly, leading his father-in-law towards Thousand Faces and the others, shouting as he walked, “Hey, my father-in-law is hungry, bring some jerky quickly to feed him.”

At Taotie’s shout, the corners of Fang Xiaocao’s mouth twitched.

But she didn’t notice that underneath a small sand dune outside the camp, a pair of eyes was staring unblinkingly at her.
